They've been calling it, this year's masterpiece that most people won't play. I went into Nier last month with high expectations, maybe even higher than Breath of the Wild or Persona 5. Upon finishing this game, I think this is my contender for Game of the Year so far. The gameplay was intoxicating and the story was mind twisting but above all else, this game's soundtrack is probably my favorite game soundtrack since Undertale. Even after pouring hours into the medley, the OST still manages to move me to tears.
With the game fresh in my head after going into this, I knew I was going to go big with it, but I had no idea it'd be my thickest medley yet. Through the first 7 minutes give or take, you're hearing almost 60 tracks of guitars, percussion, acoustics, even some xylophones for almost the whole thing, mixed carefully and mastered in a way to try and make this my biggest sounding work to date. I hope you guys enjoy!

I sure did, I've seen good reviews but I was not in the mood to buy this game. Maybe next year on the steam sale.

Ok but legitamately this was beatifully done and call me whatever names you'd like but the acoustic bit at the end made me cry a little.

What I love about jules is how he always lets the songs stay in their original key, and doesn't move change to the same key because medley
You can tell a videogame OST is brilliant when you hear a Medley and recognize every song and where it plays with no trouble. And then you start singing even though the lyrics are in a fake language that has no meaning.
Completely brilliant, just like this medley. Any chances you'll do Song of the Ancients (Devola and Popola's theme that comes back from the original NieR)? It is, IMO, one of the best songs in the OST from both games, alongside Grandma, probably... I don't know, the OSTs are too amazing to have a favorite.

NieR Automata is quite possibly the only game I bought at full prize without doing extensive research on it. Sorta just happened to be in a good place financially and went: "Hey, that game has gotten a bit of praise lately." and bought it. Hadn't even seen a trailer of it.
And I am so thankful I did. Not only was the game ridiculously fun and though provoking... The soundtrack. You could have literally picked any given tracks for this medley and it would have kicked ass.
This really late but same, I’d heard about it for two years and was constantly like nahhh doesn’t seem interesting I finally decided to, I was finished recently with ffx so I obviously wanted more sadness in my life 😂

@@anonymousanonymity2815 I wouldn't call it outright sadness; it felt more like melancholy and bittersweet enjoyment. But, yeah, the game doesn't skimp on any of the feels it strikes you across the face with, nor does the endgame lore try to soften exactly what you have done/continue doing.

The ridiculous thing is that this medley barely makes a dent into the NieR:Automata OST (in terms of how much of the OST is actually covered). Its THAT big and THAT good. That being said, this is incredible and possibly my favorite video from you :D. Would love to see you do more automata covers!

Nier automata is the best quality game that one will keep in mind so far, no doubt. Such a nice story line, nice sound track, and nice ending. One thing that i disappoint in this game is when I realize that i can't play it like the fisrst time again.
It's October 6th 2022 I just got my switch port of nier automata. It's one of the few games that moved me the way something like zelda would have when I was a kid. A solid port
This game is 7 years old now. I haven't played it in over 6, but damn, it really made a massive impact on me. I remember listening to this when it first came out and I still find myself listening to the music from time to time.

I don't think he will cover it... If you take a look at Skar Productions interpretations of the song there is a pretty damn high bar set for covering that song...

Nier is so good and so underrated :) People write it off as weeb stuff and don't play it but the music gameplay and stories in these games are amazing
Underrated? By who? I'd say overrated, where many people say perfection. Don't get me wrong if I give a game a 10/10 it does NOT have to be perfect but the game had mechanical issues (actual gameplay). Outside of that I can only see it as a game since many facets of the story rely on the game mechanics, like the UI being messed with while being hacked or hacking itself.

Automata had great combat though. The original Nier was a bit harder to control but still fun, albeit a bit too slow paced for me.
Are you arguing that it's perfect? Look I've played Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, ect. There are plenty of balanced and combat systems, I do love the unique upgrade system (similar to Megaman Battle Network), but many games have done it 'better'. No two games are the exact same, except for sports games/CoD (joking), and no game completely beats another (usually they shine somewhere else). But this game IS NOT underrated.
I don't know what you mean by perfect, since a game itself can never be perfect, it's a subjective concept. You said that the gameplay has issues (I haven't noticed any). The game had its imperfections on the PC version, but it was godly on consoles. The combat itself isn't as deep as say Dark Souls/DMC/NG/Bayonetta, but it's still extremely fun. It's up there with Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma imo when it comes to RPG combat (which usually sucks - TW3, Skyrim (I hate Skyrim btw) etc)
You know what I need? "Bipolar Nightmare", "A Beautiful Song" and "Weight of the World"... please make it happen.

Man, this was the best game I've ever played in my life. This game's soundtrack is just phenomenal and watching such an accurate medley made me remember all the happy moments I had while playing it (even a tear came out xD). My favorite place in the game is the Amusement park, so I was really excited for 4:42 . The second I hear him playing the xylophone I got goose bumbs all over my spine, what a legend this guy is. It's so sad seeing people that give up on playing the game just because of 2B's outfit and it triggers the shit out of me because they didn't even get in the best part and they are already judging it as a bad game. They don't know the masterpiece that they are losing.
I've been putting off listening to this because I KNOW What's going to happen... and it did. As soon as I finish what i'm doing on my computer Nier Is going BACK in the ps4. I already beat it but my god I want more. This game is SO GOOD. Love your covers too! You really nailed it!

Literally JUST finished this game two nights ago. This couldn't have possibly been timed better. Beautiful work, man. This is an amazing medley celebrating an already amazing collection of work.
Amusement Park is one of those songs that I can instantly recognize. It's just so distinct, by far one of the best tracks in the game. Voice of No Return is also a BEAUTIFUL song, and I love Jules' version of it too.

LittleVmills did Song of the Ancients from Nier. Would love for him to do a Nier Automata version, want to see how he makes them distinct from each other.
I made the point of covering both Grandma and Grandma Destruction in the hope NieR 1 would get more love eventually. Really needs more love than it gets, given how much of Automata's OST derives from it
