The receiver for the indoor key pad (the magnetic one) has an antenna rolled up right inside of it. I opened it up and let the antenna dangle out the receiver for a better transmission....just an idea.
Good idea ! Mine is pretty close so no problems but the one outside the garage I have to punch the code a few times maybe that's the same. I was at home depot yesterday and seen these openers for 198 so happy I got one when it was only hundred bucks mine still works great and its quiet just can't beat it for that price !
I just bought my house and it has this opener. However, I cannot get the emergency release to engage after having to disengage it. I tried the standard methods you find on UA-cam.
I just used the button for the door opener to reset it... basically just pushed the door opener to have the motor run the release back in place if that makes sense
I have not had very good luck with Ryobi stuff in the past. Not sure if I will risk this brand with a garage door opener. Garage door issues are super frustrating. Really like the idea this opener though.
I hear ya I've had issues with ryobi batteries in the past being duds. So far the door opener has worked well. I had one problem where I couldn't get it to open but it was my fault I accidentally put it in vacation mode. Once I figured that out it worked fine. The app is a little hit or miss with wifi but I dont really need or use the app
@@dedos333 oh the original lock on your door before the garage door opener..... thought you meant some luck on door opener lol yea just disable that lock on door the garage opener is the lock now. There is no mechanism on opener that will unlock your current lock on door hood this helps
Would this product work with my current set up? Currently my garage door tension springs are on the side running along with the track, and would I have to instal the new sensors for the bottom or could I use my old ones from the current garage door?
Any reliability update on this? Looking at getting a couple but the reviews have got me spooked. They seem to be all talking about how poor the app and wifi are, but I can't use those anyway. An update would be appreciated.
mine works good as just an opener the app worked for awhile then stopped and I never looked into it cause I don't use it anyways but the opener itself works fine
I HAVE THE SAME ONE BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME WE CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO OPEN THE LIGHT COVER...ONE OF THE LED LIGHTS NOT WORKING AND CAUSING THE REMOTE TO WORK PROPERLY...ANY IDEAS
I've had my Ryobi for about 6 months. It has to be the worst product I've ever purchased. Found out the app doesn't work because they stole their coding from Chamberlain, Chamberlain sued and won. So now app won't be updated until 2023, that's when the patent runs out. On top of that, the sensors are so sensitive you can't close the door during the day time unless you move the sensors above 4 feet from the ground. This makes the need for sensors useless, unless you are still afraid of the garage door accidentally crushing that nosy moose that might dart underneath before it closes. I was going to go for the tire inflation attachment but opted for the 30 foot power cord. The GFI in the door trips 3 minutes into running a house vacuum when i tried to clean my car. Customer service is also non-existent. This Ryobi is really too good to be true.
I haven't had mine as long as you but I can honestly say I've had a very good experience with mine. Sensors work fine and so does the app. I get notifications everytime the door opens and closes. Haven't bought any of the attachments so cant give any opinions on that. Does charge the battery fine though. Hopefully all it continues to work. So far I love it especially for the price
@@AllThingsCool I got the notifications for 2 days, then they stopped. now just says door closed all the time. I wish the best for you, honestly. But I'm tired of reformatting the door every time i want it to work for a few days. It's currently 1:30 and im waiting til about 4 o'clock til i can close my door. I would have to wait until 6 but i have a 3d printer and i made covers with shades on them so it won't be so bad.
@@Fatman6000 sorry to hear that as far as the sensors go relocate them maybe, I know with my old garage door opener I had the sensors mounted up in the rafters facing each other because the old garage door sensors acted like yours. There is a second safety mechanism that if the door senses any obstruction it will stop and go in reverse I'm sure the ryobi will do the same test it out it may be an option for you. Also for the app does your opener and other sensors have a good signal to your wifi?
Michael Sullivan I attached empty toilet paper rolls to the sensors. Late afternoon sunlight on the lens would trip the sensor and keep the door from closing. Gave me fits! Hope issues are resolved as I’m planning on getting a ryobi
Fyi all. Opener works fine. Remotes are very weak and most of the time don't work even with car right in front of the garage door. Pin pad is garbage, it keeps losing the code and won't open or close using the pin pad. I've had mine for over 7 years now and when this completely stops working, I will never buy another ryobi opener. Tools are fine, opener not so much.
i don't think they sell them anymore but mine is still going remotes work good still pin pad i don't use im surprised mine lasted this long to be honest
Worst garage door opener I’ve ever had. Have had it 4 years logs you out for no reason loses WiFi and I have an expensive good router. POS opener will never buy another ryobi home product again.
@@AllThingsCool had it for four years have to use side garage door 90% of the time or take the time to log on and watch it spin. @@AllThingsCool well I’m happy for you but 80% of the reviews are that this thing is trash. Just being honest. Mines terrible. Got it when it came out waste of money. I’ve talked tons of people out of it and told them my issues. Hope everyone avoids this POS
@beauepperson2641 so you do know that they stopped making the garage door opener years ago because of patent issues that's a big reason they stopped supporting the app. Not defending them or anything just info I read years ago. If I paid 200 bucks and wanted it for the smart functions I'd be disappointed also. But like I said I got it clearanced out for 80 bucks when they stopped making them and really don't care about the app feature so works for me

Only helpful complete video on this so far I have found!

Is your GDO still working. Mine dies on after 3 years but lucky they replace the main unit.
yup still works
Have you tried flipping the arm around so that it doesn't get so close to the garage door opener in the up position?
No o haven't hmmmm
Do you just cancell out the original lickung mechanism? Or is there a lever that unlatches when opener is activatated
Not sure I understand your question
The keyed latch used to lock the garage, does it get cancelled or how does the garage lock? Great video by the way....

no just for app

How to change the LED light
not sure if you can mine is still good
did you get it on a new years sale or something? they are $248 not including tax
Online they said 248 in store they were marked down to 98 dollars even after new years day

Just went out there and I thought maybe to stick a flat head screw driver in there and pry on the lens but that doesn't seem to work 🤷♂️
How do you connect the relay to the sensor on garage door?
Do you still use it?
yup
@@AllThingsCool why was it discontinued do you know?
@juancintron2560 I heard years ago it was due to patent issues think they got sued
Can you make video or comment on your experience so far with this? Hearing mixed reviews !!
Still works good mechanically. Did have a few issues with the app though
does this opener open slower than usual? seems like its a lot slower than my 20 year old chamberlain that was replaced
Slow, smooth and quiet
@Chuck, does the door opener make an audible tone every time you open and close it?
Just when It closes
Thank you it helps a lot
Great video, may i ask what voltage this works off, i am in Ireland and was looking to have one shipped across. Many thanks in advance
120 volt, but you can also use the ryobi 18volt battery as a back up hope this helps
