  • This is a recording of the AAO's PDC February 23, 2024 workshop with colleagues from Artefactual Systems. Artefactual Systems host the Archeion AtoM instance for the AAO.
    The workshop was an introduction to Access to Memory, also known as AtoM, a web and standards-based application for archival description and access. The training session provided a general overview of AtoM and its basic functionality and features. It also covered the various entity types that make-up Atom’s architecture, how to add, edit, and delete content manually, and browsing and searching tips.
    The workshop was offered to AAO members as Archeion is a hosted AtoM instance with Artefactual Systems. A follow up event, specifically about Archeion and the AAO's community use of AtoM in a shared provincial database, was offered on Friday, March 8th, 2024 (aao-archivists....
    About the Instructors:
    Sarah Romkey (she/her) is the head of Hosting and SaaS Products for Artefactual Systems. An archivist by training, Sarah graduated from the iSchool at UBC in 2008 with dual masters in Archival Studies and Library and Information Studies. Sarah lives and works in Mi'kma'ki, the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq in the town named by settlers as Lunenburg, N.S..
    Raven Germain (she/her) is a Systems Archivist with Artefactual Systems, assisting with hosted AtoM and Archivematica product development, support, and service management and delivery. She holds a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Alberta. Raven lives and works in amiskwaciy-wâskahikan, also known as Edmonton, Alberta, located within Treaty 6 territory and the homeland of the Métis Nation, Region 4.
