Stop comparing a $50K (Audi) car with $25K (Skoda) ... Compare the features that you'll get from the Skoda starter package and the Audi starter package.
The square hole in between the cup holders in the back seats armrest is for tablet holder which is extra.
The most important feature wasn't mentioned. That is the rear boot dampeners - they are quite stiff and tend to make a lot of noise on even tiny road bumps. I contacted my dealer, they are going to change them on every car, many customers were complaining. Great video all around by the way.

I like Skoda cars but I guess they go with the general trend of rising the prices & adding more "premium" kind of options (some unnecessary, and some ok) even though they are supposed to be making cars from the general segment. But I guess that's the general trend now, there is no more general cars manufacturer, all claim to have premium models and unfortunately that's not true (and cannot be) except for the prices :) Still I think Skoda does a good job overall and I believe that's why it's very popular in all Europe. Keep up the good work and thanks again for the effort!

08:31 the line in the mirror is lost by the automatic back view sensor. the miror casing makes a flash light if something is in the blind spot, so the line is obsolete 😃

Nice presentation. One think i want to add, in my oppinion the fact that in the trunk's floor is lower than it's margin it is a great solution. By doing this there is a lot more space into the trunk. I noticed in last years that many car journalists are presenting this as an complaining, but I don't understand their arguments. I don't see any inconvenient to lift up 10-15 cm the luggage and take it of trunk. I'm a practical person and i see the bigger trunk more important than have the floor at same level with it's margin.

You compare a low budget car with a premium car. ☝😉

@@JRCarReviews There are audi white leather equipped cars for sale, theirs won't clean as easily. And I doubt it's real leather-leather on the tesla or it is enhanced with something.
Tanines are what used to apply color on real leather, it won't clean so easily if you sit with jeans all day on white leather.
By the way the octavia inside NOW copies fiat tipo design lol, it's terrible...

5:45 an extra feature for extra money 3 way aircondition, than you can adjust the temperature for the back seat.... btw on higher lines you have 2 x USB-C Ports there too.... for the tablets etc. 😁

Good review and I enjoy your videos. I just picked up a new last of line Octavia 3.5 1.5 TSI 150. It’s a great car - I came from Golf 6. One small point is the times you say “ahh”. I gave up counting ha !!
Fair comments and crit however every car sadly comes with various imperfections. I have ordered one and will be receiving it sometime in Jan 21 and only once I have driven it for a while I too will find a few things annoying that don't suit my personal needs. Lastly we need to accept the fact that for it's price we aren't going to get the perfect car that suits all and will have to live with the few not so perfect things about it.

I think you are picking up on very minor things, and personal viewpoints - it's not an objective review. Also you list things that should be "standard" like 3 zone climate and wireless charging and those are NOT standard in many, many cars including VW and Audi, so why would they be standard and free in Skoda? - pointless. The rear wiper is an option even on a Skoda Superb.
The gap in the glovebox is extra storage, why complain about it?... it was where the DVD player would have been for the SatNav... it was never design to take the service book.
You're just finding fault for the sake of it. Only valid point would be tyre noise if it's true because you didn't show it. Great all-round car, looks like a mini-Superb with all the same design traits.

Just bought my 22 plate 1.5 TSI S. E. Technology with 4k on the clock,I had 2 issues SOS Activation Button popping and tailgate rattling,sorted by Skoda. This is my second Skoda,traded in my 5 year Kodiaq 2.0 TDI DSG that I bought as a pre- registered vehicle in 2018 and very happy with the brand. Looking forward to 5 years with the Octavia.

Svatko ima svoje misljenje, kod moje je zavrsna obrada super, sve na svom mjestu itd, ne smeta mi plastika iza na vratima, takvi su trendovi i moramo se pomiriti s time. Unutrasnjost je top, sve masivno i dobro spojeno, osjecaj u voznji je kao u klasi vecem autu, mirno, bez stresa. Imam je tek nekoliko dana ali zasad i vise nego zadovoljan. Naravno, neke stvari su mogle bit drugacije ali nemres imat i ovce i novce :)
Može samo pitanje koliko ste čekali auto? Meni je receno cca 3mj.

@@aleksandarnikolov2331 ne znaju, kazu da imaju problem sa softwareom, cak su i ECU mjenjali, i opet se neke stvari desavaju. Na kraju mi je infotainment i klima crkla zbog softwarea. I auto je kod 80 kmh sam zakocio bez abs-a do 0 kmh.opasno po život. Zamislite da mi se to u tunelu dogodilo za vrijeme sezone u hrvatskoj...
Maybe you should’ve mentioned that you get three spoke wheel with dynamic trim which includes black roof liner, sport seats, lower ride etc. Also a black mirror covers and a black rear spoiler. The with this option looks sick!
well u cant compare mid spec octavia to audi which is double the price for same "features" i dont think few better seals and cup holders justify double price

Not all everything you said was correct so these are some corrections:
- Every car in the class has the hard plastic on the back doors.
- Blind spot is relocated in a better spot where its more visible and the light that lights up is bigger. (you can see it here) www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/models/octavia/the-all-new-skoda-octavia-has-arrived/
- The dashboard can be covered with Alcantara instead of Cloth! (Alcantara can be specced even on non vRS versions).
- Alcantara seats can be specced too with either Fabric or Leather.
- The compartment under the passenger seat is for an Umbrella!
- The infotainment is fully customizable so you can choose what you want to have on the menu.
- Speed limit can be shown in the Digital Cockpit if you choose to see the Navigation.
- MK3 Facelift had a Glossy screen so the sun would bounce of it and into Drivers eyes which is not safe. Also the screen had even more fingerprints than the screen from the MK4.
- Like the Golf, the Octavia also has Adaptive Dampers.

Hey, thanks for the comment. This is more of what can be made better. Word "hate" in the thumbnail was more of a clickbait. I was referring to the blind spot divided part in the mirror itself. As far as I have seen in the local configurator there is now Alcantara option for the dash. It just saw a day ago there is now an option for Alcantara leather seats so I guess the local configurator isn't finished. So therefore I was wrong. I want the speed limit without the NAVI.
This car have DCC? ok i checked in the previous video and it isn't. In your opinion, is it worth buying DCC?

1) 360° camera
2) ventilated seats
3) camera on OVRMs to check traffic in blindspot
4) Sunroof( its covered in video)
5) Fan speed knob
6) Blind on rear windshield

The Golf has it, VW don’t allow the Octavia to be as nice as the Golf, it has to be a little less.

If everything is logical and made excellent in Skoda, we would call it Audi

If we compare Skoda Octavia A8 and Golf 8, Skoda is much better car for less money.

Actually new Octavia has climate controls and USB-Cs on the rear seat, just this version doesn't have. It also has an option of faux suede seats which is pretty much the same as Alcantara.
It depends on the Country, and pretty much is not same :)
Biggest Thing I don’t like is No 12V socket located inside the passenger area & No USB A , Just the smaller USB C which to me are useless in the UK ,Very disappointing

the reversing camera is unusable when it rains. The entry at the rear 7:26 is dirty from the brake dust and tire abrasion at the lower corner, you can see it with white. Software has a lot of errors.
There are lack of some features on this model since it's not the L&K variant. For example I have seen rear seat temperature control on higher variants.
Dude be sitting in a Škoda and then complains it's not an audi 🙈 plus half of the complaints could be had as an option.

In fact I search for a video with the Skoda Octavia IV sedan. In German Reviews you find only the estate car. So I am glad to find this video, but Gerneral Josip: If you hate a car, why do you test it? Skoda Oktavia and Audi A3 have a difference by over 20.000 EUR if you buy it in Germany in same configuration. And by Golf VIII is over 10.000 EUR. Do you really think there are no reason why an Audi is more expensive than a Skoda?
But really bad in this video: You have a basic line and you compare allways to high line Audi or VW. Did you ever seen a really basic line VW Golf, did you??? I think you have with all Skoda cars a good nice car for low budget customers and for normal people in Eastern Europe. I have often seen Skoda cars in Czech Republic. They have basic line Skodas that's extra more basic as all basic line in Germany. I think 20.000 EUR for a basic Skoda Oktavia IV is much more less than for a Golf VIII in basic. But 20.000 EUR is also a lot of money for people that live in Jungbunzlau (Mladá Boleslav)

I have lane assist on my Scala. I usually switch it off. It doesn't like me overtaking, it doesn't understand sharp bends in the road. I've not tried it on the highway yet.
You need to use your turn signal when overtaking. Otherwise it thinks you’re drifting into other lane. Sharp bends I agree.
@@JRCarReviews well today, I was driving through road works, that involved crossing a white line, but not changing a lane and it wanted me to hit the orange cones. It also warns me I'm too close to the car in front of me as I am overtaking. Just a stupid system trying to be clever. Switch it all off and then it's a nice car to drive.

1:53 the dimensions of this wheel are like that because it is an aerodynamic improved wheel. Their are 6 other models of wheels you can buy. But petrol is expensive and if you can save money and do something good for climate, I think it is simply clever.... 🤣😂
This is odd ... here in Czech Republic, you can have full leather or leather/alcantara seats. And if you watch carwow review , Matt has alcantara dashboard, dont know how dou you have it in Croatia though. And you can actually spec white leather seats here.

As owner of new gen 2021 after gen 3, I fully agree that virtual cockpit and infotainment are very disappointing even in style equipment. Missing indepth options, without navigation option it is not possible to project google maps to VC, no possibility to change middle part of screen, just poor. Also on previous model there we call button on the wheel and you could dail in 2 steps and now it is in 3 steps + no possibility to hang down the call other then go to infotainment.
Good review, keep on going, today is not easy to find honest review, I have III FL and I think for the octavia4 they should only improve bad things, now the noise and bad ride quality remains and you get many other modren bits from golf8 that I don't like.
22:16 because it is Skoda and it is the cheap brand of the VAG Group. It easier to put the button on the steering column and it is cheaper.....
About car noise. Did you try car with optional improved isolation? Is it any good?
I didn't but I would highly recommend optional front double windows.

Why compare it to a WV or an Audi?? You get what you pay for. When you buy a cheaper car the materials etc. will also be of a lesser quality.
JOK3R If you look at Golf 8 & new A3 it’s pretty similar... you don’t get that much more quality for more money this days. You get more in Škoda for the buck.

Golf is quieter, Octavia has nicer interior in my opinion, both are smooth on road and comfortable but Octavia has more interior and cargo space.

Interesting! I am in New Zealand and have the mk3 rs hatch back which I just love. I have been watching the reviews etc and I am looking forward to the gen4, particularly like the new rear end treatment. The RS won't be here for another 12 months so I will have the opportunity to see the reviews before I commit I guess. I have the 2L manual 162KW. There have been rumours that they won't bring the manual here but I have been keeping up the pressure to Skoda NZ and it is starting to look a little more promising otherwise I will have to import from the UK and I would rather avoid that. Why do you prefer the mk3 as a matter of interest?
@@jimnolan3636 hi. It’s probably because I am getting on a bit now in my 50s and I’ve always been a ford man in the past no less then three mondeos I’ve had . The reason I stopped getting the mondeo after the mrk 3 was the fact they were getting way to big . The octivia was just the right size also I’ve noticed the 1.2 engine is the same as the non turbo 18 engine in my mondeos power wise. Also I am old school I like a manual handbrake and CD player to much modern technology in cars now for me. One final point worth making brands like skoda and indeed ford used to be value for money but they are constantly putting their prices up close to so called posher brands . I think I keep the mrk 3 for another ten years probably
Why nobody say anything about the wipers and about the fact that most of the rain wiped from the windshield is getting on the side window. They should of made some modification. This is happening since the first generation of Octavia.

I do not agree with all these points. However, a lot depends on the car's equipment level. Not everything can be compared to an Audi, because an equivalent Audi is much more expensive. After 8 months and 13 Kkm, I am satisfied with my choice. There have also been no technical problems with the car. A software update was made in the fall and everything is working normally. This is economical and spacious station wagon. Among other things, the beige content of the black ceiling is very nice. Nicer than the usual dark gray interior.

9:10 the standard seats at basic line in Golf or are not better. you need to buy for better seats on this brands too especially in case of Audi. 😎

These are incredibly minor things tbh, lots of them VAG cars have had since day one, such as the water ingress half-way into the sills. The rubber being closer to the outside makes it susceptible to the rubber splitting. It happens on Lexus cars in actual fact, especially in rainy harsh road contains of the UK for example. Most of the other critiques relate to standard equipment. Id rather a well engineered car with basic equipment, that one with lots of equipment that forgoes some higher-end engineering.

I have the combi model and the base of the boot is similar. My wife's wheelchair is a larger than the standard one's as it has suspension and it fits perfectly in the boot laying on its side with the wheels still on. There is still room there for a suitcase or several bags of shopping.

@@adonistaxi2681 , no problem as I was in the same position myself trying to find a vehicle that would accommodate the wheelchair easily. We also got the passenger seat fitted onto a special swivel so it swings out for my wife allowing her to get in and out of the car easier. It's the original seat so it keeps all the functions.

I believe that Octavia started to cannibalize sales in the group. So marketing decided to put Skoda to where it belongs as they see it. So it is good, but not good enough. And demanding customers would have to look to VW or Audi.
This Skoda is everything the newest VW Jetta would like to be, but it is not.
I can see the cost cutting measures all around VW, Seat and Skoda (I dunno about Audi).

6:37 this hole is for a stick. The stick is with 1 or 2 arms for the tablets for your children - to keep them calm by video on long trips. So the 2 USB-C between the frontchairs is in cooperation with it. If you would have children, you would think in an other way about this feature and don't dream about an Audi... 😂🤣😂

Još kad bi softwere napravili da radi internet povezivanje u autu nebi bilo loše i ostalo a ne da treba svaki mj iči na neki update u servis.
Motor tdi 115ks 300Nm i 150ks 340Nm su zapravo isti motori s tvornicki drugacijom mapom .
Posle istekot na garancijata mozes so malo mapiranje na 2.0 tdi so 115 ks da go napravis na 150 i da zashtedes 1500 evra
