This is legitimately your masterpiece. Everything else you do is great too, but in my opinion this puts you up there with the compositional greats of history in its entirety. I watched an informal college recital and a percussion student played this piece. I was stunned. Every bit of technicality is balanced out by well thought-out and beautiful lyricism. It gets better every time you listen to it.
Love your music, man. You are a fantastic inspiration to modern day composers. Keep on writing and being a vigilant reminder that percussive arts are still alive.
I said to my percussion director " i want to play Etude in E Minor" and his almost immediate response was "no" lol. Ima gonna learn it and surprise him.
Amazing. I'm a huge fan of the fact that you post videos of yourself playing your own compositions. It's been incredibly helpful for reference (interpretation and style) and I hope you will continue so in the future! You're an inspiration.
Search "Rattle and Hum Casey" and I think you'll find a recording of someone playing this solo of his for I&E. If you even still care after 4 months, lol.

Two questions, is it written for 4.3 octave marimba?
And, what difficulty level would you say it is?
5 octave, incredibly difficult
