I just bought this and it's easily one of my favorite marimba works :) it feels like I can play something resembling a romantic work for piano. You are a true treasure to percussionists everywhere; thank you so much!!

    AWESOME JOB!!!
Thank You for your performance and the FLAM JAMM at Roy Miller HS in Corpus Christi TX!!!
I’m still trying to figure your technique out!

Beautiful new work my friend! How fresh! Thank you for another beautiful contribution. It's interesting that I have been playing Character #2 so much (one of your really early works), because this one is so much more harmonically and melodically unpredictable... really captivating exploration of listening.... MUCH LOVE!

When you compose, do you know that you'll be able to play it on the marimba? Or do you get ideas that, when you get to the marimba, prove to be physically beyond human ability? I'm sure you know the physical limitations of the marimba very well. Just curious if you get ideas in your head that don't quite make it to the final version.P.S. Just got Technical Timing and having a lot of fun with it. Thanks.

Robert Long oh man that's a good question. Now I'm curious, too

I would argue the second. There's some awkward stuff in a few of these that wouldn't come naturally while playing the instrument. Compare Bobo's later writing with Smadbeck or Abe, who both wrote by hacking at the instrument and writing what works. Cangelosi's feels more like Bobo's appraoch... at least in the pieces I've played.

This is a really good recording. What microphones, DAW, and software do your use? Oh, ... and the composition is kick ass too! :)

Thanks, Michael. My DAW is Samplitude 10 and I used a AKG C414 xlii and a Neuman TLM 102.

I love the sound of these mallets! I wish they came with rattan shafts too though, I’m a cross grip player so naturally I prefer rattan over birch
