I was not able to get it established. I think the terrible drought we had after planting and not being close enough to a water source to give it what it needed. The native grasses ended up just coming back and choking out what was trying to grow.
@@bdradley1 Thanks for the update, its an important data point for me. I think they really dont do well with root competition so you gotta kill everything that might try to edge them out before they get established
@@TobiasDuncan yes I tried to kill everything but didn’t want to spray like a roundup and it be in soil when I planted. I’m still wanting it and have been tilling the area but it inevitably comes back
Good afternoon Dave 😊 What a interesting video.lve never seen or heard of this tall grass but it sounds ideal for what you want.lm with you 100% all the beautiful trees and fields THEN that eye sore....yes it's a very good idea 👌 will watch this grow with great interest.lve been using Miracle Grow this year but the condition of it is very poor,on opening it l found mold and lumps of old wood and the texture just wasn't right.l did phone and spoke to someone in head office and they didn't have to mu hto say.So l took photos and sent a good sample back to them but never got much further then getting a refund.Shame really it used to be very good but other people are complaining about the quality so it's not just me.l use another one named Jack's Magic wich is better but not 100% once again.😏 well that was a good moan don't you think 😆 Where do you come from Dave so l can look at it on a map....you don't have to say .... security and all that,l understand.Wishing you all the very best, stay healthy and happy 🌱🌱🌱💕🇬🇧
Hello Joyce! I’ve been spraying pastures trying to get them growing correctly for the season. I’m hoping this Miscanthus works out, I’ve no experience with it nor no anyone with it but elsewhere in the states, folks are using with great success. It’s originally from Asia At least you got a refund on your miracle grow, mine was fine. I wonder if maybe it was a Europe produced product and they had issues? I have no idea though just a guess. I’m in Georgia, 2 hours east of Atlanta! Have a great week
Nice video. I planted a row this last spring and they are 8' tall I live in zone 6b.
How is the giant miscanthus doing?
24D may be okay but Round Up will do it in quick. Hope the hedge works well. The hayfield looks nice.
Did you make a second/update video?
How did this miscanthus compete with the grass? Were you able to get it established ?
I was not able to get it established. I think the terrible drought we had after planting and not being close enough to a water source to give it what it needed. The native grasses ended up just coming back and choking out what was trying to grow.
