    I think model like these with all the symmetry modeling 1/4 of the model is the way to go.

    918.009g in Fusion in 11:21. Was showing 923g first but realized I had the wrong steel material applied.

      Awww yeah nice job finding the material error - Love seeing F360 in here!

    918.0089 with FreeCAD in about 30 min. Struggled a bit with the order of operation I should take.

    Finished in 13:12 at 918.009 grams in fusion. Struggled a bit on the side profile figuring out the dimentions. Did a quarter first and mirrored.

    926g in SW... tried doing one half and mirroring across front plane. Guess I'll wait to see how everyone else tries it!

      nice job - the correct answer is shown at the end of the video, so you can check to see if you got it right

    918.009g in Fusion. Quarter model and mirror. 1+ hour to figure that out.

    918g solidworks in 4:54 on second time. I failed on the first attempt with mirror feature big time :D
    Just another case to remind myself to mirror body instead of features, when those features use reference geometry

    Do you ever use the dynamic mirror tool ?

    • @TooTallToby
      @TooTallToby  Місяць тому +1

      Not really- It’s kind of a cool “parlor trick”, but I’m usually faster just sketching what I need and then mirroring at the end

    Finished in Fusion but I forgot to look at the time. First time trying a practice model from a video. Oops. Probably 5 or 6 minutes. Forgot to put the slot in the first time. Also modeled a quarter and mirrored. Might have been easier to model half and would have worked better. I checked how the hole and thread note called it out on the drawing and it said 4X, so it counted both halves of each hole.
    For anyone interested I posted a video on setting up Toby's materials in a library in Fusion. My first tutorial video.

    918.01g in SW. Mirroring the hollow cylinder didn't work for whatever reason. If anyone ran into the same problem and happens to know the cause of the error, please let me know!

      I used referenced geometry and "extrude to" feature and it didn't worked for me as well. Spent some time on it cause of this. Next time cut the part in half and mirror body with merging when finished on one side
