    Especially Lizzie, Cynthia and Spencer!

I'm not a parent but the fact that all your kids are polite and have such loving hearts shows how well you are doing with raising them. None of them lash out or start fights just to be devious. You have amazing kids and your kids have amazing parents. Their outcome could have been so much different had you and Jared not stepped up and taken them in.

That’s also partly to do with the past of the child;.. when we feel secure, we don’t want to make people hurt like we did before we felt safe.

So My Husband and I just got our foster license. We haven’t had our first placement yet, but I would like to know as a bio mom - what things could at your children’s foster parents have done differently to help you or to make you feel like they were more on your team? You didn’t directly say they went into foster Care so sorry if I am over stepping 😊

I think that as we grow as parents, we tend to re-evaluate the things that are important to us. Following a strict set of rules becomes less important than making sure our children are happy and healthy. As parents our job is to raise adults that can think and make decisions for themselves. They can support themselves and be productive adults. You’ve done that and so much more. Good job Shelley and Jared.

I‘m not a parent. But I‘ve always felt that the micro-managing parenting style, while it seems to be all about distrusting the kids (and probably feels like it to them, too), is more about parents distrusting their own parenting abilities. So it would be logical that with more experience the confidence in one‘s own ability to raise competent children grows, and the parenting gets more relaxed. I really feel like most helicopter parents are seriously unconfident about their own abilities to raise their child and/or keep them safe and so they feel like they have to micro-manage everything. The sad thing is, that the child will probably never know that side of the story, but only feel like it‘s them the parent doesn‘t trust.

They’re a family vlogging UA-cam channel but have been controversial over the years for their harsh rules and punishments. For example they took away their sons bed for months over something small and they refused to take their daughters lunch after she forgot it at school etc. There’s probably more (I’ve never actually watched them). But lately they’ve been in the news as the mom has recently been arrested after it was found that they’d duct taped a couple of the kids, locked them in a room, not given them food for days, etc. The kids escaped to neighbours and the police were called.
I’m sure there are videos about it but that’s a summary.

Or break them into a small bowl first and then dump them into the large bowl. Easier to get the shell out or spot a questionable egg before you put it into big bowl.

I remember the getting ready part. Before I met my husband I rented a room inside the home of a family and I worked shifts. And when I had to work the morning shift throughout the week I always had to get into the bathroom quickly or else the dad would be in there. Sometimes I was up too late and one morning that meant that I didn't even get to go to the bathroom to pee before I had to leave.

Parenting is hard, every child is different, different age groups, backgrounds and past traumas all have to be considered when parenting! I was allowed to cuss but not in anger at my parents and NOT allowed to say the F 💣! I did the same with my children, they are going to stay it anyways but at least they are learning to watch what they say in front of the littles, in front of teachers and not at work!

I was meant to comment a while back when there was egg cracking going on but I was sure someone else would tell you.... not sure anyone has so - learnt this from a top chef, the best way to get egg shells out is to use the other part of the egg shell to scoop it - it sticks to the shell :) Love your vlogs, been watching for quite some time now, all the way from New Zealand :) Thanks!!

Shelley, I am with you on letting the kids curse. My oldest son (now 36) used to curse a lot on the bus etc.... one of his friends told on him, and I told my kiddo, hey I curse, so it is assumed you will too and I am good with it, but if you ever curse at me (not around me, I am good with that) I will take you down even if I have to stand on a table to do so (he is 6'4), it took the fun out of it for him and his friend told me Bryan never curses anymore. I do also let my 2 youngest (19 and 16) curse as well. They are all very respectful in the world. The times have changed and there is nowhere that kids are not going to hear cursing, to me it is just a word, there is no difference in saying dog poo or dog sh^t, it is the same thing. The F word I heard all my life as my dad was a cop in their lingo it stands for Found Using Carnal Knowledge, so it was never a forbidden word in my house. You are great parents and have amazing kiddos! PS Love how Bishop is family not just an employee. How does he like his balcony oasis :)

A great tip for no shells in your eggs, give each child that will be cracking eggs a separate small bowl. They crack the egg into the little bowl, if there is a shell, use a piece of the egg shell to remove the shell in the bowl . Then put that egg into the big bowl you will be whisking up the eggs in. Do the same thing when baking. Crack them into a small bowl before adding to batter . Much easier to remove the shells.

Egg Tip: use half of the empty shell to scoop out the broken eggshell… works every time! The egg 🥚 shell acts like a magnet to the broken piece.

Hi Crystal and Shelly, You both should do a women's getaway and a men's getaway. Plan a two day pamper day for the mem and all of the women separately but with both families.

Since I dont have kids of my own yet, AUNT is my favorite Title. So when my nieces or nephews dont use it I reinforce it.

I never allowed swearing, ever, when they were at home. Now I’m sure they do. 😂. I was always strict about the way they addressed family and close family friends. I’m eighty now and have an Aunty still alive who is 12 years older than me I would never dream of not calling her Aunty. I think it’s alackof respect.

At the cussing question all I could think about is how growing up us kids weren’t allowed to cuss around or to the adults, but they knew we did it when we were alone 😂 Now that I’m an adult ( I turn 19 in March) I still don’t cuss in front of the adults in my family bc it just feels so weird like I’ll get in trouble even tho I wont, and I never have 😂 As long as we weren’t using it in a bad or mean way we could but it still felt so wrong 🤣 And I agree with Lacey 100% that parents change with their kids over time bc my mom was pretty strict with me but now with my brother who is 15, he gets away with so much even when he needs to be in trouble😒 And even with my 4yo goddaughter my mom babies her sooo much. I try to discipline her and my mom and grandparents always say “don’t you be mean to that baby” Like brooo then you come listen to her run her mouth 😭Lots of love from Florida ❤

Tip to take egg shells out of the eggs easily: wet your fingers with some water, it will be way easier to catch them👌🏼 love from Spain ❤️🍳

I have to say I agree with you on the cussing thing I've only 2 kids both boys 19 and 8, the 19yr old is allowed to cuss and has done since he was around 15 I'd rather know about it then him doing it behind my back the 8yr old is only allowed to say fudge and sugar things like that, I do agree that as time goes on your parenting style changes aswell as parenting different children my 2 boys are so similar yet sooooo different the older boy I've only ever had to tell him something once and its done the little boy omg he can be hard work sometimes, I come from a large family too bio siblings Foster siblings step sibling none of the kids (my nieces and nephews and my own kids) call their aunts and uncles, aunt or uncle but my youngest calls my best friend aunt (she's his godmother) maybe it's a generational thing????
