I feel like the 2020 series is way overhyped. Paul Gallen claimed it was the worst side ever, I don’t know anyone else that was saying that leading into the series. Qlds side actually had a higher premiership tally than NSW, Queenslands spine had a higher premiership tally by a long shot. I’m not sure why everyone thought NSW would dominate just because we had Nathan Cleary, who was 23 at the time and it was his first time leading the side as he previously had Maloney steering the ship. Cleary was up against Cherry-Evan’s (9 years older) and Munster (who had just won his second grand final), when Cleary hadn’t even won a premiership at that point. Plus no one talks about how NSW lost Tedesco and Cody Walker due to concussion in game 3, and they still only lost by 6. To be fair, the QLD side the following year was the worst QLD side of all time.
