Tbh the first half sounds like a sad Singaporean story. Wanting to pursue his interest/dream but was stopped by NS which isn't flexible at all. After being enlisted the general "mindset" of "normal" Singaporeans changed his path. Individualism is really lacking in this country, there is a weird obsession with the "correct" life path in Singapore. Just my 2 cents and with no intention to bring politics into the comments. Cheers
omg you guys should interview Tasha too! because she was an actual K-pop idol and though the experience would be similar i think we’d be able to know more about the kpop scene through her debut experience 🙂
K-Pop training is tough; it depends on the agency they are signed under (if they are with the Big 3 - SM Ent/JYP/YG Ent; they are well supported and have less worries) and there is tier of agencies (of course some the smaller agency have debuted and maintain OG groups like KARA/TARA)
@@jackjackyphantom8854 it only works for smaller agency (bigger agency is call accumulated debt - take Twice for example - they don't pay a single cent of their own money and they are paid monthly salary as they are JYP money maker and their contract renewal is up as most idol contract is 7 years the first time) it also depends on which agency *the big 3 now 4 - JYP/SM/YG/Hybe is runned differently*
she used to be from idol school tho ( a survival show similar to produce series ) if she won she would have been in fromis_9 and be in hybe entertainment 😟😟
Can’t believe Alfred left out the bit about how good he is at art and graphic design. During 少年之名, he designed hand drawn birthday cards for his good pal Boyu and for one of his teammates Oscar, and he also illustrated the poster for celebration night (it’s on his ig stories) ^_^ Bottom line is that he’s mad talented and deserves to be seen by many more people!! Can’t wait for your upcoming pieces of work, 加油 🦭fred!!
Wow I didn’t expect Zula to cover on this topic! I actually watched We Are Young back in 2020 when I heard that there was a singaporean joining just because I felt it was cool and Alfred became my one-pick throughout the show, not only because he’s Singaporean but bc he is super talented, interesting, real and gives off amazing energy (and a great artist too). Alfred if you’re reading this I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do in the future! ✨
Oooh, I didn't watch we are young but Alfred seems like such a nice person, I love his vibe and the clip of his song at the end looked great, I will definitely check it out! Also I love your guys' accents
Wow, such a good interview! I didn't know anything about Alfred before, but it is very interesting to hear about his journey. He seems to have a very positive mindset!
There are actually 2 Singaporeans on we are young :) if y'all haven't watched it, y'all should watch it! The performances were really good, mentors as well!
thank you zula for this video so so much!! rlly interesting to know the behind the scenes of survival shows esp from a singaporean hahah alfred has come a long way!! wishing him atbbbb also idk y but i kept having goosebumps throughout this vid ahahha
Olympic champion is someone who wins something at the Olympics. Olympian is someone who participated in the olympics He was a youth Olympian and as far as I know was selected to be an Olympian as well. So more accurately he was a youth Olympian that was potentially an Olympian as well
Omg i remember loooong ago I used to watch Alfred and Minhua on UA-cam doing covers??? then mah dudes disappeared im guessing thats when he went over to become a trainee etc :') I'm so happy with how much theyve grown~ Wishing the best for his future(: Vampire was dope thooooo
Ahh been waiting for this EP of Ask Zula to drop!! Watching Alfred’s journey on 少年之名 and then hearing him talk about his experience almost 2 years on hits different but in a good way bc you can truly see his growth from the show! Would 💯 recommend everyone to check out his new single《Vampire (重生)》; the MV is super high quality, the choreo is amazing and whole song is such a bop you can just tell a lot of effort was put into it ☺️✨
Ending up watching we are young afterwards, it made me regret not watching it sooner. Format wise, was definitely better than QCYN too, in the sense of giving more stages & chances
Such an inspiring journey, I really enjoyed watching this interview! On a side note, luckily Alfred didn't join youth with you 3, God has a better plan
wow i followed this guy from the jyp-alpha audition together with some of his friends... in fact i think i'm facebook friends with him lol! didn't know he moved to the china scene!
I had never heard of him and stuff before this, and I was thinking that his age was at most 23-24, then he mentioned he was "turning 31 this year"..like BRUH

Jackson Wang is potentially a Junior Olympian participant; he ultimately choose an IDOL life
Olympic champion is someone who wins something at the Olympics.
Olympian is someone who participated in the olympics
He was a youth Olympian and as far as I know was selected to be an Olympian as well.
So more accurately he was a youth Olympian that was potentially an Olympian as well
his experience is quite interesting, good to hear
He really reminds me of Joanna from NOC. Anyone agrees??
