I was going to comment the exact same thing. When the host asked to see the frags the way he scurried over and started talking all fast. I could feel the passion from here.
Haha you came from Germany to film his tank, reefbuilders lives in America and they wouldn’t even show us mikes tank! I’ve been wanting to see this for so so long!! Good stuff 👏🏻👏🏻
Such an awesome video and great guy! Amazing tanks he has! He is also so right about to many things with the US coral market especially with everything being name driven.
And Never allowing those tiny frags to grow into large full robust colonies.very strange obsession with always fragging corals and not letting them grow.
I often get questions on the videos I post about the sunroom I have my reef tank in and how the sunlight affects it. It's all glass so there is large amounts of sunlight that gets into the tank. I think Mike mentioned it once in one of his earlier articles years ago. I wonder if he remembers it. Mostly I get asked about algae growth, but to be truthful, I didn't see much difference from the tanks I had elsewhere in that regard. When the sun hits the tank, you can see how puny our lighting is in comparison to the sun. Great video and Mike always has useful information to give us.
My first marine aquarium book? "The New Marine Aquarium" by... Michael S. Paletta! It was a time when UA-cam/online sources were all over the place and I wanted something step-by-step in clear almost jargon-free explanation. The book is a great reference for newbies though the info is now a bit outdated (but still usable).
It was the first marine aquarium book I ever read, too! I used to head over to my local library and flip through all the pages, poring over every detail. I still remember the Montipora tank, the tank with the purple and green clove polyps, of course the 20,000 gallon tank, the earlier iterations of David Saxby's famous reef--and so many others. As soon as I saw his name in the video title, I suddenly remembered all of that.
Have fun I absolutely fully agree 100% I’m trying to see how big my colonies will get not to sell them but to convince my wife to get a bigger tank again great and informative and very inspiring 👍🍻🇺🇸
Yeah thats the problem with reefers, gotta have every single coral like a pokemon. Thats how people get dino, bacterial issues, algae and other problems spread if keep adding new things all the time. My longest time was 5 years without adding a new single coral or fish or anything to my tank and never had brown jelly disease and other problems. Grew a 6 head torch to 150 head plus. Like Mike said, be content. Have a vision on what your reef tank will look like/ theme and get your corals at a reputable source in a timely manner once the tank is ready. Now im on my 1 year mark on my new build. I have proof in my channel.
This is the best video Seafriendlyreef has done on his channel. It was extremely interesting and insightful. Unfortunately I stopped watching this channel. They would travel all over Europe, show you some of the most beautiful reef tanks in the world, the video production is top class but the videos were too short to give the tanks the time they deserved. A video lasting 5 to 8 minutes is not enough time, you would learn nothing and left feeling that it was an opportunity missed. Great video this time though. Thank you.
Use to seeing Mike on American reef. This was a very refreshing video showing the broll and your interview style. A fantastic video! Well done. I enjoyed sit very much. ❤
It's companys like World wide corals and Top Shelf that have injected a large amount of greed into this hobby. The prices they charge for there corals is disgusting. Now companys like Hanna instruments are doing the same thing they keep increasing the prices on their products especially the reagents. They know people need them to test the aquarium with their checkers so they keep jacking up the prices. It's really sad
I gnaw the snow in the background! 😂 likeable grandpa who loves his hobby! great, not quite like in europe but great to see how it looks overseas. keep it up...would like to see more from the aqua-dudes around the world! 👍👍👍😀
I have been watching your videos for years and I got one question. How come your tangs aren't big?? in a year my tangs grew 3 to 4. inches depending on the tang......but they all grow,
I love him! The passion and interest and joy oozes from his eyes and voice and smile
I was going to comment the exact same thing. When the host asked to see the frags the way he scurried over and started talking all fast. I could feel the passion from here.
Mike has been an instrumental figure in the Reefing works for many years now. Nice tour of his tank. Thanks Tobias

Hi, So nice an interview!!
I have a Q. What is the size of the living room tank?
The Master

Does mike quarantine his fish?
👍
interesting also that the corals, nitrate and phosphate, can better absorb pure sunlight! the snails and the doctor do the rest.
Only bad things, happen fast...True for 100% (marine tanks).
Master in the sky.

Mike is a National Treasure
Mike's sunlit tank is a dream of mine
