Every artist in jype always say he doesn't care about looks only personality, bc look at jimin, sometimes min, jihyo, sana at the beginning and etc.

spicysushi23 I understand that but they can't neglect technique for sounding emotive. The voice is an instrument and improper technique can seriously damage it. K-pop has a lot of emotive singers in my opinion but they technical vocalists like Sohyang that showcase the complexity of singing honestly. I think proper technique and being emotive are both equally important for great vocalists.

I bet the people who sat there and hated on JYP and his group's are eating your words now. Look at this girl, I miss this Shannon. Ofc I have always loved Shannon, but she always chose songs that weren't really suited for her, and every time she sang you could hear her strain a lot. That's why I never doubted JYP once when he critiqued her, even when she cried. I knew he only did that because he cared for her and wanted to make sure she sang without losing herself in the song (in a bad way). He wanted to hear Shannon, not Ariana, and he wanted to see the sincerity. He wanted to see her emotion animating not only through her voice, but through herself; And that's what he saw here. He saw Shannon for all that she is and will become.

+OTAKU LEISHA lol not really, JYP focuses on both looks and talent like any other company, but he also focuses on personality, lots of singers, who know they can sing, have a TERRIBLE attitude and he doesn't like that. Plus just because he doesn't have a bunch of TaeYeons or Mamamoos etc. doesn't mean he can't teach.
Also he has a lot of talented singers, 15&, Jun.K, Yenny, Bernard Park, Day6, JoKwon, etc. People need to stop comparing singers to other singers. People have different styles of singing, and just because you're not powerful like Ailee, doesn't mean you can't sing.
Funny thing is, people weren't saying this kind of stuff until TWICE came out, but the reality is they can actually sing too. Maybe they're not the best singers like TaeYeon, but they actually can sing pretty well, if you don't believe me then you should check out ChaeYoung's melody project.

SM isn't part of Kpop Star anymore. Season 2 was the last season that SM was in. "Antenna Music" is the other company- they've released absolutely amazing music.

Some people are gifted singers. Shannon is clearly a very gifted singer who works hard. Since I found out about her 3y ago, she rlly shocked me. I worked with a large amount of singers before and honestly she not only has a great pitch, but also a good breathing and a wide range just like Ailee. She does have some weakness but I'm glad to see her doing emotion building! Her transition is good too👍🏻 JYP's advice changed her sometimes nasal high notes she doesn't suit a girl group because she can't show her true talent

JYP is quite biased atm since they focus way too much on KPOP groups, since Shanon William is more like a solo artist and would probably prefer to perform as one than in a group then JYP doesn't really suit her even so they are the best atm at promoting their idols, but they also have dumped a lot of trainees and etc in JYP and has more failure as for solo artists. SM, LOEN-Starship or YG should be the choice for her. But if she is in JYP, she has more opportunity at least to get more exposure or just decide on trying to debut on a girl group since there are a lot of programs for potential gg even if they are all in a different company no matter how big or small they get to audition in the program.

In my opinion, she's the best so far of all the people that auditioned. Her voice is so much softer than in her last performance. It's much nicer to listen to and has more feeling behind it. In her last performance her voice was stiff and all stuck in the back of her throat but here she has pushed it forward...
