One of the many reasons I love your videos: you talk about the teams that get no love from the national talking heads. When all you hear is talk of the juggernauts, its a nice change of pace to give props to the guys working their asses off in the corners of college football that never make the highlights
Yea and u can't even blame the brutal travel times in the middle of the schedule cuz they did alrite. They just turned out to be a pretty bad team that weakened down the stretch
This is the first video of yours I've seen. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and am thoroughly impressed. You can generally count on one hand the number of college football "fans" who are even aware of non-power teams in non-power conferences. Most of what you get (even from national media) are folks who only know QBs and Head Coaches. I think "Flashes of Promise" is a group that changes every year, in more or less of a random way. This group is usually features Power Four (Five) programs that went 3-5, but could have just as easily gone 5-3 in conference. In the Big Ten, it's a team that that' still upset at going 3-6 instead of 5-4. Most of these teams would be favored in a Bowl game against any Group of Five squad ...
It’s nice to have discussion and perspectives on other teams. Way too much emphasis and media pre-occupation of power teams and teams from SEC and Big-10. Thanks for this post
same as a beaver fan starting 4-1 then injury started and losing 28-0 to airforce then beating wsu out of thin air just to get my hopes up then come crashing down a week later against the feet of jentry and the broncos
Quite a few falloff teams on this list, FSU, Kentucky, Wisconsin, OK State, Utah, and Houston were all really good a few years ago Also: Favorite quirk of this year is that all four teams with an owl as the mascot fired their coach during the season (Temple, Kennesaw State, Rice, and FAU)
Love this! I think this is pretty accurate! Only thing, Cincy got blown out by KSU at the end of the year. But they were promising throughout the year for sure 👍🏼
Honestly would move Nevada up, had SMU on the ropes in week 0, took Boise to the wire on the road, and had 4 more losses by 7 or fewer points (total of 6), and had a solid win vs Oregon State.
Surprised to see EMU on a lower tier than ULM; they had very similar feelings for me. EMU started 5-2, had a couple of close losses including one where they scored with no time remaining to pull to within one but opted to go for two and the win instead of playing for overtime and they got stopped.
Again, budge is for the people. You can make an entire tier list of bad teams thanks to the glorious nature of college football. Keeping making the videos us true sickos want!
Purdue was bad this year but not as bad as the record and scores show. They had the 5th toughest strength of schedule. They played 5 playoff teams and last years national champion. 2 games they lost in OT, one to a ranked opponent.
Very dissapointing season as a wisconsin fan but hopefully we can get some better qb play next year either with the return of van dyke or the freshman mabrey mattauer and bounce back
UK football under Mark Stoops is such an anamoly. Beating #6 Mizzou, then losing 31-6 to USC, and bouncing back by almost beating Georgia absurd. It's like UK and Vandy's football programs have evolved from the SEC's tomato cans to the SEC's little brothers that sometimes beat their older brother when he gets too cocky.
As an Arizona fan, our team does not fit any of these tiers. Our roster was stacked with talent this year and do to an over glorified high school football coaching staff running our team, it was driven into the ground and wasted. I do not have any hope for the future of Arizona football under Brent Brennan. I'm a Junior hear and I was just so excited to have a good football program building. I went to almost every game last year. I'm extremely disappointed to know that I will probably only get 1 good year of college football as a student.
I would move UNR out of bad to Flashes of Promise. Their record does not show how close they came to winning games against winning teams. 5 of their games came with less than ten points. Lost to SMU by 5, lost to Georgia Southern by 3 and lost to Boise State by 7. They were good in some games and bad in others.
As a La Tech fan, it is funny we were one of the better c usa teams while the entite fan base wants us to fire our coach. Unfortunately the university cannot afford to buy him out so he's around for 2025
Nevada had 6 games they lost by a touchdown or less including up against SMU and Boise. Put them in Atleast Flukey, despite their Flashes of Promise with how they played Boise State and SMU
@@ishouldntvlog5061 don’t matter they deserved to be in as a UNDEFEATED POWER 5 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER. If you don’t get in by doing that then there are no rules and the committee can just throw in whoever they want
UVA looked like they fell apart down the stretch, but to be fair we also had one of the hardest (if not THE hardest) end of season schedules out there. Look below because it was a CRAZY stretch. We beat Boston College 1 week after they moved from ranked to unranked, barely lost to Louisville (ranked the week prior, and ranked 26 at the time I believe), then traveled to ranked Clemson, played a hot Carolina team (bowl team), beat Pitt at Heinz before they collapsed, then Notre Dame in south bend, played CFP SMU, and then went to VTech who always plays (and beats) us hard. If you count those two teams at the start as ranked teams, then we played 6!!!! of our final 8 games versus ranked opponents, and the other two against bowl eligible teams!!! That's effing crazy. BC ranked 26-30 (W) Louisville 26 Clemson 17 Carolina (bowl) Pitt 18 (W) Notre Dame 4 SMU 8 Tech (rival and bowl) We didn't have any easy games this year aside from Richmond to start, and maybe Wake. Everyone else was tough and was supposed to beat us. I think we're not exactly a good team, but we deserve far more credit than we're given based on our crazy lopsided schedule. There was not really a falloff during the year, we just hit the part of the schedule where the schedulemakers screwed us. Wahoowa (please have pity on me, I just want a good team for once)

Thanks brother!
seeing LA tech in 'flukey' after them magically making a bowl game will never not be funny to me.
love from east lansing
UMass honestly probably deserves to be in a tier higher. They had some decent performances
They played an SEC junior schedule , how tf did they get to HOST Mizzou ?!? Props to whoever put that together
they didn’t beat any FBS team 😂
They were 0-10 against FBS teams. Their only wins were against FCS teams
Sad Maryland fan here. Hoping next we see a turnaround next season.
Hopefully man :/
CMU's only bright spot was the win over San Diego State. Really showed potential with that win but threw it away immediately after.

Sorry, as a Wisconsin fan, we are fluky. How do we get blown out by Iowa and Nebraska but lead Penn State and Oregon at halftime?
I don’t think that’s what the fluky tier means. All 5 of Wisconsins wins were multi score wins and didn’t get lucky and win games
