Listen we do what we do because we enjoy it. It is in our blood. We are 7 generation if highwire performers. We do not do it to test life. We do not do it so you guys can make derogatory remarks. We do not do it so you ignorant people hope we fall and die. We do it because we are proud of who we are and simply enjoy it. Maybe you people should be proud of who you are and live every moment to the fullest. Stop leaving nasty comments and wishing death upon our family. Your negativity remarks is not wanted nor needed.
Andrea Wallenda Agreed thank you for giving us such joy God bless. It must be quite the thrill to walk the tightrope, however with practice and experience it must become like walking arose the street. Since I wasn't born into the circus life as an outside here it's sort of fascinating to me to see how (I don't want to say mundane, but) somewhat routine it is for you to walk the rope and do headstands and such on the rope. Your family is living proof with faith in The lord, hard work, and determination anythings possible. Of course however you're family is doing that to the to the extreme. However to be realistic, not pessimistic, the reality is that sooner or later we all will meet our Dear Lord Jesus Christ sooner or later. It could be in old age or young age, it could crossing bad ringing on the tightrope, it could be crossing the street. Hell I turn 29 next month on September, 5th, and already I've survived 3 bouts of cancer. You never know what The Dear Lord will give you in life, but it's all in his plan, and he never gives us more then what we can stand. Love you guys you rock, love form Milwaukee, Wisconsin!!!
Andrea Wallenda i meet your father or grandfather days before he past away in Puerto Rico I was very little my grandfather was the owner of circus in Puerto Rico and I to walk the tightrope I was called el puequno wally in honor of wallenda family you said it very well in your statement I honor Oscar wallenda and family I to had an accident in the tightrope thank god it was nothing mayor but I was force to step down can't perform ever again rest in peace to the brothers and sister who have met death on the tight rope god bless.
Andrea Wallenda
My respect for your family is enormous. Just heard about the Sarasota accident today, and am genuinely broken up by it. I KNOW your family must perform to the highest levels and do what only they can do. You are compelled to do the 7, which has no room for error. I am genuinely sorrowful for your tragedy today.
Yes just heard about the accident today I shall pray for all the Wellenda's and all involved. I pray all make a speedy recovery antecedents will happen form time to time.
i have been watching you since i was young in the late 60's early 70's. you all are amazing, achieving perfection more times than can be counted and i wish, hope and pray for always the best for all of you. YOU ARE THE CIRCUS, without you all it is just a cheap show.
Is it’s me, or am I the only one that thinks that watching the silhouettes from the spotlights is graceful. With all do respect to the actual performance of course.
I knew Karl, Herman, and Gunther Wallenda, a long time ago, but wonderful people.
@jdunn1974 - Actually Karl Wallenda was born in 1905 into an old circus family who had been circus performers for many generations. Karl began performing himself in 1911 and later founded the troupe the "Great Wallendas" who later became known as the "Flying Wallendas". The Wallenda family has been performing in circuses over 400 years, it would probably make a great geneology project for someone :)
You can watch the movie THE GREAT WALLENDAS if you haven't already. Lloyd Bridges plays Karl Wallenda. He did a great job, accent and all. Cathy Rigby was great as Jana. The movie was very true to life of what really happened, showing the building of the "7" from scratch, until the tragic 1962 accident--and how they went on from there.
Descanse en Paz..el mas grande equilibrista de.todos los tiempos
my best friend alex wallenda is related to these people and this is so amazing!!!!!!!!
I've seen lots of great circus acts. The Wallenda "7"..... has no equal.
Sin duda alguna los WALLENDA son leyenda!
its 50 years ago today when the accident happened.R.I.P dieter schepp and richard faughnan.
Tremendous bravo November 2022.
I don't think anyone would be less impressed if they used a net...seriously!
This is the Great Walendas. The Flying Walendas was an early trapeze act.
prayers to the family wallendas a d also who was in the accident god bless ...
¡Por favor! ¿Alguien sabe algo de lo que fue de la vida de Jana Schepp después de este accidente? Investigué mucho y no averigüé nada sobre su biografía. Hace años que me enteré de este suceso ocurrido en 1962. Agradezco cualquier dato. Muchas gracias. Saludos desde Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The story is they don't use a net because when the circus still used trains as transportation they arrived in a new city and the net was lost and the ring master made it more dramatic without a net so they didn't use one from then on; the show must go on with our without a net
EllenChristiana, nice story but it is just that, a story. Karl stated that they don't use a net because with all the equipment being used it is more dangerous to use a net if a fall happens. Not only would the performers fall into the net but so would the poles, chairs or any other equipment, causing havoc with the people in the net. This was directly from Karl Wallenda.
that's why people watch it. They hope to be the ones.
i Rember thees people i seen them last year at the ex they where amazing i would see them again
Wow! A much younger Nik! Nice walk last night by the way!
Nick es el joven que se ve nervioso y suda mucho ??? 😲
does anybody know what happened to jana schepp after she left the wallendas returning to germany. i know she retired from the wire, but being only 17 i wondered what she did from then.
THAT WOULD HURT MY FEET! 😫
I am sorry 4 D loss
Unless you've done it without a safety harness, then you have no right to comment.
O my god we leard this in class jeez and they did it agsin
My God. You can see the sweat drip off the performer at 1:42.
The performer you see dripping sweat is Nik Wallenda who walked across Niagra falls a few years back .
So did I:)
yeah nik wallenda crossed the grand canyon yesterday
Huhh! Is it the "easier" variation (without bikes)?
i came here cuz i saw a guy walk across the grand canyon.
i think they do that to make it more dramatic.... i could be wrong though
I understand you do it cuz you love it but I don't understand how you can love risking your life??
Ok
I want to actually SEE the accident. Don't you? Come on, admit it!
both wrong...they have been performing since 1780s
This is so wrong, to risk death--and die--for mere entertainment of others. Spectators of this act are no better than Romans watching a gladiatorial combat. They should be ashamed of themselves. And for the performers, I offer only this ancient Chinese saying: A death can be as ponderous as Mt. Tai, or as light as a feather...
