He declined the safety wiring harness but city of Niagara would not allow the walk unless he wore it. He did the Grand Canyon without it. The guy has got balls bigger than Earth.
Same here. I remember watching this and the la Kings in the Stanley cup finals. I can't comprehend it. Feels like I was just watching this. I can remember being in my old house with the AC blasting in my room lol.
I love how people are so quick to discredit this man because he had a harness.. if you followed you would have known that they made him wear it in order for him to even do this. Still an amazing feat nonetheless because he made it across without having to use it. This man = legend.
Saw this entirely live as I stood with my family on the Canadian side at Table Rock and was happy to see him kneel down and do his fist-pumping YET I never realized he was being interviewed during this actual walk...near me, a person in the crowd had a radio listening to the commentary...WATCHING THIS IN PERSON IS TRULY A HISTORICAL MOMENT FOREVER WITNESSED.
very gutsy guy!, if you lose a sec of confidence you should fall in the deep sea, you need extreme level of concentration and extreme level of confidence to make it possible :D
Having such a privilege to see such a special guy with my own specialties, it hurts to see his family look like Sylvester Stalone's son's character in Rocky V being held on the side looking like a scrub while Rocky teaches a student who never had ENOUGH hardships to learn on his own. Now, if Rocky were real, he has worse brain-injuries just because of doing street fighting due to his naive adventure into a naive student.
Glad he did it towards Canada ! If he did the other way, the CBP officers would've stopped him asking him about the purpose of his visit, and if he has drugs or weapons !!!
If you watch a show here on YT called: Daredevils - The Sky Walker, it shows an extreme climber/rope walker named Dean Potter that walks across a rope thousands of feet above the ground completely untethered!!! No safety harnesses, backup lines or parachutes!!! Also from the same show "Daredevils - The Human Bird" is about Jeb Corliss, an extreme BASE jumper. Nik Wallenda, Jeb Corliss, and Dean Potter are all crazy if you ask me! lol. They're great documentaries though, check them out! ☺
They wouldn't let him cross without the harness, Think about it if he fell into Niagara falls they wouldn't be able to save him or maybe find him for a few days, where as he cross the Grand Canyon they could see where he fell. Thankfully he crossed without fail. A little note to remember he has been walking the line since he was 2 years old. If you tried you would fall at your first few steps :)
Your wrong, Philippe Petit walked between the World Trade Towers in 1974 and he only did it once. watch the documentary Man On Wire, its amazing and inspiring.
He wore a tether because the authorities wouldn't allow him to go through with the stunt without it. He said that he felt uncomfortable with it dragging behind him. If you kept up with the news, you would have known this in advance.
If anyone here is disappointed by the safety harnesses, please, go check the video in which he walks between two buildings without any safety equipment... and then walks the other way back blindfolded
Hey Nik, I was wondering if we might be related. Could you possibly have relations on the American side. My uncle's were Roy and Harry, my father was Robert Robinson.
I watched when it happened, it was one of the most powerful things I've ever seen! My nerves were shot. I'll never forget it, we had gone to the Falls some years prior.
I almost died when I heard the reporter cut in and ask him how it’s going. Like bitch I’m kinda busy rn talk when I’m not on a tight rope 800 feet above a water fall😂
What a great evening this was. I feel truly blessed to have been able to have been there in person. It was worth getting drenched to the bone at at brink of the Horshoe Falls for this expirience. All the best to Nik and his family. He truly is a class act!
Please...people are far too self-righteous to admit that. Yeah, ok...the only reason you watch this stuff is to NOT watch him possibly slip, break the harness and fall to his death while his family screams from the river bank.
Everyone who says this isn't impressive because he has a harness has no idea that the weight of his balls of steel easily exceed the resistance of that harness.
The harness is just there for safety, it's not effecting his effort to stay balanced. I love how he carried his passport across the falls. Nik crosses international borders like a boss!
trust in the Lord with all thine heart ; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy path. proverbs 3:5-6 KJV
He was forced to wear it....officials would not allow this walk without it. The Grand Canyon was done with NO safety equipment......WOW, that was INSANE. That wind was blowing very hard....how did he NOT fall. Hats off to Nik, the dude is insanely brave.
Agreed! I was there, and let me tell you, there was excitment in the crowd, but there wasn't that gripping fear that I wanted to feel. Nik did great, and I have nothing but the highest regard for what he did. I do however think the harness took a lot out of the evening. I left very satisfied with what I saw, but if the walk were done without the harness, I think I would still be tingling with excitment.
When I heard about this, it was a man crossing NGFalls, without OUT A SAFETY HARNESS! Never heard a peep about protecting him down the wire. I don’t give AF, about pass ports!!! NOW no one is answering about safety wires, why not???? THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING , 6 years later there’s no answer I can find. If we’re strapped in, and can concentrate, invite a regular dare devil to do the same... I’m sure there’s a list somewhere, to do the same thing as him.
Holly Warehouse the city made him wear a safety harness. He didn’t want to but they wouldn’t let him do it without one. He did the Grand Canyon without one though
This would’ve been so cool if it wasn’t for that gay harness they made him wear. That turned it from “DUDE, THIS IS CRAZY” to “are you still gonna watch that niagra falls thing tonight? Oh right...yeah, I guess”
He declined the safety wiring harness but city of Niagara would not allow the walk unless he wore it. He did the Grand Canyon without it. The guy has got balls bigger than Earth.
baseballreg123 ur extremely sumb
Lol, same thing as last night’s event. Lol, he also had hair here.
He’s smart to take the harness. Why would you not? It’s too risky.
I'm Glad he has a safety harness on TBH
@@Phuong_Nguyen_ that’s cool. Still sounds scary though lol!
they literally interviewed him during the walk wtf
I think he's cool with being interviewed, it seems as though he had answered earlier on and the dude seems pretty chill with it so Idk
Exactly.. how do an interview whiiile walking on a wire 'Karl Wallenda' Fell & wasn't even being interviewed & lost focus gosh!
His talking is like watching Superman poop.
@@7550375503 YEP & The average Joe loves that fragrance.. J/K 💩
He said the bar was so wide it was like walking down a sidewalk, that aint the ROPE they use to use

Same here. I remember watching this and the la Kings in the Stanley cup finals. I can't comprehend it. Feels like I was just watching this. I can remember being in my old house with the AC blasting in my room lol.
Yup
I forgot biut this since the day I saw this and came to mind couple min ago 10 years l8r
Wow, it's been 7 years since I watched this on TV with my grandpa, dang, it feels like it was so much sooner
Right ! Me and my grandpa watched this when it aired live. Brings back memories
I love how people are so quick to discredit this man because he had a harness.. if you followed you would have known that they made him wear it in order for him to even do this. Still an amazing feat nonetheless because he made it across without having to use it. This man = legend.
I was working down in Niagara falls state park the day he walked the falls. it was so nerve wrecking watching him on the wire.
What an awesome person! Glad he made it! I watched this live as well!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely one of the greatest things I've seen live SALUTE TO HIM & HIS FAMILY
Anyone else afraid that he was going to fall, even though you knew he didn't?
He had a tether
Can't believe I witnessed all of this on my birthday almost 7 years ago😨
With the safety harness, the only danger of it is being embarrassed if he fell.
He have too man it his grandfather die doing this
Dan Roland ABC forced him to wear it
TheSicarius city of niagra actually
Our town made him wear it 🤦🏽♂️ speak facts
justin bones shut up Justin bitch
I met him after his walk, whatta tremendous character well done
You are lucky bro 😉
And I will be happy if you reply after 10 years ☺️
Watching today and remembering
Holy shit he JUST crossed the canyon! Congrats!!!!!!
Why the hell are they interviewing the guy while he is walking on the wire?
Abdolutely insane.
very gutsy guy!, if you lose a sec of confidence you should fall in the deep sea, you need extreme level of concentration and extreme level of confidence to make it possible :D
So so so so Brave...

The state of NY wouldn't let him do it unless he wore the safety wire...
Legend alert
Glad he did it towards Canada ! If he did the other way, the CBP officers would've stopped him asking him about the purpose of his visit, and if he has drugs or weapons !!!
ahh! i was there for this and it was amazing!
ABCNews didn't make Nik do anything. He obviously felt comfortable enough to broadcast with them.
I remember saw this on the Canada side

It was amazing
he didnt even need the safety line..... he didn't fall so...... he didn't fail
He had to wear a harness, it was required by the canadian goverment.
Your wrong, Philippe Petit walked between the World Trade Towers in 1974 and he only did it once. watch the documentary Man On Wire, its amazing and inspiring.
what kind of shoes would he wear, not only to grip the wire, but not slip from mist?
congratz nic
Lord Jesus I hope the safety cable doesn't break, he could come over, and clean out my gutters in the rain for sure...
thought this was epic until i saw the harness
his next stunt is the chystler building to the empire state building
Yes, he used a safety harness because they forced him to. I say "forced" because he didn't want to use one Lol
He wasn't allowed to do the Niagara Falls walk without a harness. Discovery let him do the Grand Canyon walk the way he wanted.
He wore a tether because the authorities wouldn't allow him to go through with the stunt without it. He said that he felt uncomfortable with it dragging behind him. If you kept up with the news, you would have known this in advance.
I can’t even ride my bike in a straight line
Is this guy actually talking while he is doing the walk????
Takes a TON of Balls to do this.. but he said no safety net..but isn't that a safety wire slididng behind him on the Cable?
How the heck did I get here I was looking at castle by malkamore
because you clicked on the FUCKING BUTTON YOU DUMBASS
Uhhh ABC can you not post the same video under a different name, this video is when he trucks into Canada not his first steps onto the rope
shame he has been somewhat forgotten after felix baumgartner's stunt
Good thing they did that cause during it he did fall and the safety belt saved his life
A harness? WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot! This stunt is suppose to be death-defying...not embarrassement-avoiding!
If anyone here is disappointed by the safety harnesses, please, go check the video in which he walks between two buildings without any safety equipment... and then walks the other way back blindfolded
still owes the mayor 2million dollars
if he falls hes stright
YAAAAAAAAAAY
HE MADE IT:)
Hey Nik, I was wondering if we might be related. Could you possibly have relations on the American side. My uncle's were Roy and Harry, my father was Robert Robinson.
dear abc don't make a guy talk while he's doing something that could kill him...
I know he made it across Niagara Falls it was so scary 2 watch
Let's see yall do it with the safety and see who is chicken then.
Imagine he forgot to bring his passport. Gotta walk all the way back. haa.
LOL
would he actually have to do that?
+Harambe idiot
he already forgot his brain
Lollllloolillilololollool hahahahhahahah
Why are we talking to this man, let him FOCUS!!
Fr
5 year later and I was thinking the same
10 years later! We’re at Niagara Falls today. This is impressive but pretty tame compared to Charles Blondin 160 years earlier.
She's awesome bro
Love your guys Channel btw ❤
I like how he's just walking and talking calmly.
wre they really asking him question when he was walking....
oh my god abc just go away
Who would have thought that 8 years later, he would be planning to cross a volcano in the same way in Nicaragua on 04/04/2020
He did it!
With safety tho
I watched when it happened, it was one of the most powerful things I've ever seen! My nerves were shot.
I'll never forget it, we had gone to the Falls some years prior.
Imagine if he forgot his passport and had to go back to get it😂
Hassan imagine stealing the most liked comment in this video
Hassan ROFLMAO

I watched it live, it was such a great event. Harness or not, we truly enjoyed the performance.
If I were you I would not sneeze if you do you might fall
I almost died when I heard the reporter cut in and ask him how it’s going. Like bitch I’m kinda busy rn talk when I’m not on a tight rope 800 feet above a water fall😂

"ETERNAL HISTORY FOR OUR WORLD " thank you,Good Luck
but can he do it on a cold rainy night in stoke?
Probably not
Amazing comment... amazing. Not enough UK footy fans watching this.
Well he was soaking wet and the rope was wet so...

I was right in that crowd very intense..spend a lot on souvenir.
This rascal reporters won't let him concentrate poor guy , bravo
This was 8 years ago??? Wow. This was so cool live.
What a great evening this was. I feel truly blessed to have been able to have been there in person. It was worth getting drenched to the bone at at brink of the Horshoe Falls for this expirience. All the best to Nik and his family. He truly is a class act!
literally talked about this in physics class today ... gotta love MOMENT OF INERTIA
Why can't we all be civilised human beings here and attempt to tell the truth? It would have been more fun to see him fall.
even if he did fall, he wouldn't die. He has a harness
I was hoping he would
Randy 36263 from what?
that's messed up mate :P
Please...people are far too self-righteous to admit that.
Yeah, ok...the only reason you watch this stuff is to NOT watch him possibly slip, break the harness and fall to his death while his family screams from the river bank.
I wud have dropped the moment I got on .
Everyone who says this isn't impressive because he has a harness has no idea that the weight of his balls of steel easily exceed the resistance of that harness.
he didnt want it but TV refused to air it live without a safety tether, but he did the grand canyon without one
That's what they say, he walked in New York last night and it was the same story.
I remember when I was thereee in the crowd
Imagine getting halfway across and having to take a piss
The harness is just there for safety, it's not effecting his effort to stay balanced. I love how he carried his passport across the falls. Nik crosses international borders like a boss!

😀great men wonderful expression,This guy make it look easy.👍
I was at Niagara Falls the day before he did this. There were ads everywhere. Too bad i could not see it.
they forced him to wear a safety belt for the first time in his life

It isn't. His father died from what he's doing.
Know it's his grand father that died -_-
Miguel Boisvert no*
Scary as heck. You were smart to use the harness here and last night. Love to you and your sister!
He didn’t want to he was forced to use it.
Good ole memories
@sourcheesepringles I'm from the falls they mad him wear that harness.he kept trying to fight it he really didn't want to at all.b

manifestgtr, no harness...
POV: that’s how your parents say they went to school
Right now I'm watching him walk the Grand Canyon. No harness. Strong winds. He could just go over the side at any second. Amazing
I can't believe the guy insists on talking to this guy while he's trying to keep his balance. Sheesh!
