Do you have any live streams coming up soon?
as soon as I get all of this working 😁
i've been using couple session every saturday night on my Instagram profile! feel free to check it out! zevanyagraciella
Yes!! Can we also hook up two interfaces ? One for drums and one for guitar, bass and vocals
Can u suggest me the right cable for Yamaha AG06 thank you so much ❤
Yess I do but I have a question can use XLR cables for smart phone to connect to the mic jack mixer ?
Loved the section explaining WHY this needs to be done. Couldn't find this anywhere else on the internet. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! I need the WHY for it to make sense as well haha
Cody does a top shelf job of explaining how to connect a mixer board to a smartphone. Simple language, concise, and easy to follow. Great teacher qualities Cody! I'm going to buy the cables and try it out. Looking forward :)
Thank you so much Bill! Im glad you found it so helpful, let me know how it all goes. Cheers :)
Stereo DOES matter if you use fx... Sounds far better. Hopefully future phones will allow this.
Yeah, that’s the video i was looking for. You surely gonna hit much more subs soon and thanks for making us understand the difference among TS, TRS and TRRS. God bless you buddy!
Thanks so much! I’m always happy to help out a share what I can :) best of luck with your live stream
Can I do it without a mixer? If I have only that splitter cable?
AFTER 7 HOURS OF LOOKING FOR MIXERS THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO THANK YOU
You’re very welcome! Glad you find it helpful 😁
What do you think of this setup for a dj live-streaming on Facebook with a Yamaha m6
For live-streaming on Facebook I’d recommend running OBS. It’s live-streaming software that integrates easily with Facebook. I plan to do a video on it at some point. But, this set up should work for that as well!
Cody McManus thank you Cody I will let you know how it works!
Sounds good! Best of luck 🙌🏻
Great! Thanks for sharing. A sound engineer once told me I'd need a sound card to be able to send sound from a mixer into my device for livestreaming (with mixlr specifically). Your explanation makes it easy and possible with just a cable. I hope this works perfectly for me.
Great! I was struggling with the reason why my PC is picking up my guitar line-in audio, but not my phone! Had been testing around but it still can't work!
Now I finally realized that my 3.5mm adaptor is the TRS instead of the TRRS, that could just be the reason why my phone is not picking up!
Awesome explanation, definitely smash the like, subscribe, & share to my friends!
Thank you for your work in helping us these noob beginners!
No worries Bernard!! Glad the video was able to help you out :) appreciate you supporting my channel like that, really means a lot my man!!
@@CodyMcManus No prob! A big hand for us.
Ordered a cable from your link - hope that gives you a boost!
Ami Kozak Official appreciate it :)
Hello, good video but you are not talking about the decay between image and sound, is it not a problem for you? I haven't tested yet but I tought they shouldn't be syncronized naturally ...
THANK YOU for your wonderful service
You’re very welcome 😁
gonna try this out asap! thank you so much :D 🌟
Let me know how it goes 😁
Hey Cody. Thanks for the insight again. I had to revisit this video for more assistance. I am currently using Focusrite to a preamp with a Voicemeeter software on my computer. How would I be able to live stream through that software?
How do i live stream video or record a video using only sound from my mixer? Thanks for the help.
Cody. I'm using a DAW Pro-tools 1st for my mixer. I want to record a video on my iPhone 11 pro, while using the audio of the mix off of pro-tools including the compression, EQ verb delay. There has to be a way without having to sync the audio to the video and then deleting the audio from the iPhone and replace it with the audio from the ProTools mix. I think you're right about the future of video concerts. The quality of the sound will be a major factor. I want to use my pro caliber mics. a Mojave ma200 and an AKG 414 both into a Focusrite ISA 428. Out of the 428 into a Focusrite 2i2 interface.
I found one for a c type. Gonna test it soon. I hope it works
Great tips, we were planning to do some livestream, they are really helpful to get closer to your audience
I am a huge fan of livestreams. As an artist, I find them so much fun to connect with so many people from all over the world all at once! And as a fan I feel like I get to see another side to all these musicians that I love who are just being themselves and in their own home
Thank you so much for this video sir....have been looking for this for days...
Aren't you also supposed to use an attenuator when sending a line-level signal to a smartphone? This is something I'm trying to understand myself and perhaps this was why you were having issues with the level. I think you need one for this scenario but I don't know if you need -20db, -25db, or -30db, etc.
I used a headphone output so I had volume control to my phone. But you might be right, especially if you are just using a direct output from the interface. I'll have to look into this a little more, but as long as you have some sort of output volume control it should be passable!
Hey Cody - just a heads up - your amazon link for the splitter took me to the wrong type...just a standard stereo splitter and not a TRRS...
Oh no! I will fix that right away. Thanks for letting me know :)
Cody McManus 👍🏼
Thanks for the support with this! 🙏🏼
Hi great video! By the way I have a question and need your input and suggestion.
I have a QSC touchmix 8 and I want to use it for live stream with my friends (about 4 to 6 persons) we want to do some online mini concert as a group with some interaction with our viewers, what items should I use? The challenge is I can only use one earphone for monitoring not unless you have another solution if I'll be using an external monitor speaker that won't create a loop or feedback? I noticed in the last part of your video (intagram clip) you and your duet partner doesn't have an in ear monitor, do you use an external speaker monitor?
I also have the same question that needs your input and suggestion for my upcoming behringer flow 8 mixer/interface.
I only intend to use either a smartphone and/or tablet for live streaming as the location may vary and eventhough the mixers I've opted is already portable I think having a laptop will be bulky.
Thank you mate!
Did there a way come up meanwhile where it’s possible to send stereo to the phone?
i have question, how to send audio from mixer to smartphone via wireless(not wired) to recording/live streaming
audio interface to IG Live through my daw ? is it possible
Yes, as long as you are able to send the audio back out through an output on your interface. This worked really well for me! What interface do you have?
@@CodyMcManus focusrite clarett 2pre
Focusrite clarett 2 pre
You bet! Just use one of the line outputs and run it to your phone. You will need a 1/4 to 1/8 cable plus the TRRS splitter from the video (or one similar).
Then just make sure you route the output in your DAW to the output you are using on your interface. Let me know how this goes for you :)
Hi Cody, Is this method strictly for live streaming? All I want to do is record a video of myself, on my iPad, singing to music from my Dynacord CMS 600 mixer. Then I will review it, trim it and post it on my FB page if I'm happy with it. If it's good enough, then I may have the confidence to go live...
Also, does the iPad need the on-board mic disabled for this to work?
same with me
@@frankierestituto3290 same here.
Also same here.
can we avoid having the splitter cable and achieve the same outcome by some wireless device, Please advice.
Great video! Will definitely hit you up with questions !
Thanks! Keep me in the loop with how it all goes and if you have any questions at all 😊
Hey Cody, this is a great video.. but how about using an RCA to 1/8th inch adapter- left/ right separated RCA cable that merges the signal to an 1/8th in. plug.. then use an SC4 1/8th in. to TRRS adapter to connect to the phone? Just a thought.. While I haven't done this connection yet, I'm personally experimenting with different cable connections in my makeshift studio and looking to be able to replicate on the road.
Super late to the party, but I have a Samsung Galaxy s21 Ultra and a Yamaha MG10XU mixer. Any recommendations?
I tried already using a SC4 cable direct into iPad 6th Gen from the usb audio interface and all I get is a screech!
I have a 6th gen too and it doesn’t even work
A TRS cable will not work when you start recording. Your built-in microphone is picking up the sound.
Can you do a video on using a usb-c type phone
The process is the exact same, you will just need the usb-c audio adapter for your phone
I have a question for you.
I have a keyboard workstation with stereo outs. R and L/mono.
I want to record directly to my Android phone. I can use my headphone jack from my keyboard for monitoring.
What adapters and cable do I need to do this?
Thank you!
William
Thanx it's time to up my game
Great videos! Glad i came across your channel!
PK Strange always happy to be helping :)
What attachments would I need to connect a maono c2 to my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I am running my shure sm7b through the mixer but I can seem to get it to connect to my iPhone.
I tried xlr out from mixer to iphone lightning port with and without attenuator, i cant get much volume either way. i thought it should overdrive without headset buddy. maybe try 1/4 inch out of mixer (headphone jack) to xlr to phone (with adapters of course.) xlr because of long run of cable from mixer to phone.
I bought 1/8 studio TRS Cable connect to phone but the sound is not good enough. Do I needed to set up from mixer? Can you post another video how to set up the mixer if you can I’ll be appropriate
Is the quality not very good or is it the balance of instruments/vocals? Plug in some headphones to the mixer and adjust the volume faders to get a nice mix of everything.
Cody McManus the balance of sound. It’s pretty bad when I combine vocal and acoustic guitar
I could see about doing a video like that. You’ll have to take some time playing with the levels of each instrument until they sound good. Just takes a bit of playing and practice to get it sounding alright
Cody McManus thank you Cody
Heyya Cody! Would you recommend this set up for recording audio from wedding receptions?
Ok so I have a flow 8 mixer can you do a video on that? And also, I’m trying to connect my laptop to send audio to a main mixer so basically I’m using my flow 8 as a sub mixer.
i have a follow-up question: is it possible to do that wirelessly?
Tnx for sharing and I have a quick question I'm using yamaha MG10XUF MIXER and I did all the steps but I couldn't get the sound from the mixer it recorded from outside i need help tnx
Hey Michael, sorry to hear it didn't work first try. Did you have audio playing when you hooked everything up? I know Instagram wont use the audio source unless there is audio playing.
Also, try it out with a different app. If you are using Instagram, test to see if it works on another platform first.
How are you able to pan everything in the middle? I'm assuming it has to do with the sound, but where exactly I can make sure of that so I can have both the right and left audio? thank you, you answered pretty much everything I had a question about, really easy to follow.
My audio is choppy when i try to do this :( I have the right cables and I've checked them, they're working. any tips? :(
I use an audio interface :(
There is a 3 IN 1 Lightning to 3.5mm audio Adapter may can help,it's with 3.5mm audio IN and Out interface and lightning charge interface.check it here www.coolsell.com.cn/live-broadcast-audio-adapter.html, or search MIXER AUDIO ADAPTER FOR IPHONE.
I have the same problem here, what i do is to reduce de volume level until i get a clear signal, i keep testing while recording videos. The volume input is quite low, but it kind of works.
Use the Monitor out port,it’s with Volume control as usual
@@droidon i have the same problem, i need to reduce my volume to like 10 percent, it works when i watch the replay but i cant here it live clearly since its 10 percent volume, any ttip?
Just wondering, what do you think is the cause of the distortion for the input audio? Do you think it's the cords itself, or maybe the mix/gain levels? Have you been able to try the new cables yet, and was there a difference with sound quality?
I found that I only get distortion if my mixer is turned up too loud. Other than that it sounds great!! :)
Thanks for the resources. I'll plan in the near future try making audio this way. However, nothing beats in person concerts as well as having live streams..............
I agree, i am a huge fan of concerts :)
I love the sound you have! Is this exactly how you set your gear up? Where did you plug your mic.
Thank you! I actually run my audio through my audio interface (Behringer X32) then into Ableton Live for effects and some mixing. Then out of my audio interface into my phone. Sadly, instagram in continuously disabling ways to get external audio to the platform so I have moved my livestreams to Facebook
wow this video was the most helpful of all. Could you please do a video on livestreaming on karaoke..with Soundcraft Notepad 8fx
Helpful video. Thanks! I have a question.. Are you able to send one audio mix to multiple phones for multiple live streams?
Hi
My fone doesn't have input jack its only a type c . What connection should I've looked for in order to receive an external microfone into my Android fone?
Thanks
Hi cody excellent video however how do I get the volume right for my phone I'm using open camera and its just distorting I have a samsung many regards colin also I have a behringer 1622 usb mixer
Thanks Colin! You just need to turn down your audio output on your mixer. It will take a bit of trail and error until you get it right. Hope this helps :)
Hi Cody, great advice thank you. I have a bomge 4 channel mixer. I am using Bluetooth for music from my tablet and now I need to try to stream to tiktok via my android phone.

Awesome. I’ll be running an Allen and heath 16fx into my iPhone 13 lightning input. Any suggestions?
Amazingly explained
What about my pixel phone that has a USB-c connector? Or my iPhone that has a lightning connector? Also, I have on our mixer Audio out to Speakers for the band. Can I send out to one of the Monitor outs? Is that even possible and what cord would I need?
Hi Cody, I have a Allen and Health QU-16 Mixer, however in my setting the mixer is about 25 to 30 meters from the iPhone
Very good info thank you...stay safe...

I think i just found the right solution for my music. But I wonder if you could show me how do I connect the XLR And Phone mic / headphone splitter ? 😅😅 Thanks cody , im ready to buy the both of them but i need a solution to be able to connect them togther to get the music out to my phone . Thank you 🙏
Can we make a cable with Ts and TRRS and use for recording from mixer on the phone...!??
You can make one. That’s what I did, but it is tedious work and will require soldering and some small electrical skills. I would recommend spending the $15 on the cable instead of the 2-4 hours hoping your hike make on works.
However, if that is something you want to do for fun, let me know and I can give you the schematic for the build! ☺️
@@CodyMcManus Will you tell me how to make that cable?
Wow, great video mate! I appreciate the effort you went to, to explain this! 🏆
HI there, good explanation and you are sure about phones not getting stereo signals; however, there are videos out there with excellent sound quality and to me, it sounds stereo. Thinking of recording music in mono now days, is like thinking about which adaptors can I use to be able to send e-mails using typewriters. My daughter and I used a Canon 6i to upload a video, the sound was good in the camera, in the phone wasn't too bad, but hearing it with earphones was very amateur. I thought the sound from the phone speaker will be mono and stereo from the earphones because the trrs connector has left and right. Where am I wrong? Should we accommodate to a 2020 sound technology offering just mono sound recording? Hope not for very long. Thanks for reading.
Hey, thanks for taking the time to comment! Some phones do alright at producing a stereo sound but I believe the biggest issue is with the apps themselves. From my understanding, apps like instagram will only use mono audio for live streams to help reduce lag and latency. So even if you were able to send high-quality stereo audio it is likely to get compressed down to a mono signal. Certainly time for them to get up to date with the tech!
The alternative is to use a program like OBS. It works great for live streaming through your computer to Facebook, Twitch, or UA-cam, but it does not offer a mobile version. If you want to check it out, I just did a video on it!

Glad I could help! :)
Would a trs cable work to input a keyboards audio into an android? I have a trs splitter and cable and dont know how to get the phone to recognize that the port is being used as an input rather than output.
Thanks bro.. i'm just wonder if it's okay to insert my base guitar also to the mixer?
Yes you can!
I have a Behringer xenyx q802 usb mixer, what cables do I need to do phone interviews?
You will need these two cables to get the audio from your mixer to your phone. This will not send it back to your mixer though. you will need to use your headphones to hear the other person. I haven't tried it with any calling features or apps myself.

I need your suggestion as to recording from yamaha MG06x mixer to android mobile. At present I am recording with Xlr female to trs cable connected through iRig to mobile using only one channel L or R.
So can i take both channels using 2xlr female to Trs cable? Is that cable available, pls give me link. Then how to connect my Yamaha i500 keyboard to mixer. Pls give me suggestion
You are on the right track. Recording using either L or R channel is fine. Are u getting poor quality sound?

I have a PA system > Xlr out > 1/8 inch end> Ugreen splitter microphone side > dongle > iPhone
But the audio is still only coming from the phone ?:?:? 😩
Newer iPhones do NOT have ⅛” input/output jacks. They have Lightning jacks only. You need a Lightning to FEMALE TRRS adapter.
Correct, you will need to be able to receive audio via 1/8” jack
Hi Cody, is it also applicable for zoom R16 audio interface?🤞 if so, what type of cable should i need? Thank you in advance! 😊🤘
I believe so. You could use either the master output on it, or the headphone output. You will need the cable i recommended in the video, plus a 1/4 to 1/8 cable to get from the Zoom R16 to the adapter. Hope this helps :)
Great info! It helps that i am using the same mixer/ so i feel more comfy! Side note- have you ever noticed a low grumbly sound through the mixer? It happens sometimes then sometimes it doesn’t and its fine- just wondering if its common or just maybe a bad cable?
It is possible it is a cable. Is it just a specific channel? Try muting them all one at a time as see if it goes away. Could just be a ground issue. If you have a ground lift on the mixer or DI try giving that a switch and see it it helps.
How come there are stereo mics that can transfer a stereosignal to the iphone if the iphone can’t recieve stereo? Like the Shure MV88 for instance...
That stereo mic connect digitally via USB. If you were to use the analog connection it would be mono since you phone can only receive analog audio in mono.

Hey Cody, I recird my own music. But when I transfer it to my phone, it sounds like a warped record. I have all pans set to center but still sounds awful. Using a zoom r24. Maybe you have an idea...Thank you
Pretty good but a lot of fast talking. Great breakdown of the TRS and TRRS. Many people don't do this. Consider updating this video and having the mixer, cables and phone on a table and explain each hookup as you're hooking them up otherwise you don't really connect (no pun intended) your presentation with practicality. Also, explain how to prevent the person on the other end of the call from looping back on themselves. It took me FOREVER to find someone who explained this and how to turn the FX send down. The Yamaha MG10XU is a great platform to base an updated video on and possibly integrating the iRig2 into it and also not having it would be good to i.e. a TRRS straight from the phone. Thanks man.
Hi Cody.
Does this also work with phone calls if I want to call someone in a radio broadcas
I've been tearing my hair out over this. With a USB c input on my phone I can't seem to get adapters to work with the open camera app. Everything you say is correct just still having issues with my setup.
What type of cable can i connect from the microphone connection to my phone?
That is a tricky one, it depends on your microphone, but typically you will need a phone specific microphone in order to do this without a mixer
