Great harvest and informative video my sweet friend! Well done! I love the old time black and white effect in the kitchen! Music is beautiful! It's it better to stream blanch than in water blanch??
Fun to have wildlife in our gardens!
I grew three varieties, couple from my own saved pea seeds! Love eating Snow Peas right in the garden! Going to plant more this week for fall for the first time! Thanks for sharing your yummy garden peas info!

Thanks Deb!! Steaming always retains more nutrients than cooking in water. Your peas sound wonderful.

I just froze another batch of peas today, too! I can't believe mine are still growing after almost 2 months of 90 degree weather, I'm ready to plant my fall batch, and teh spring batch is still growing!?!?!!? crazy luck

Certainly count your blessings! That’s a tough one though. Maybe you have a different area or plant them close but trellis separately?

That is a great Harvest. The peas look so good. I tried to grow edimame beans and nothing happened. I will try again next year for sure.

Nice little harvest sis! Im planting my fall pea seeds tomorrow. What did you fertilize your peas with? They look great! I wish peas produced more than they do. My hub and father in law loves them. 😘🥰🙏🏻❤️

Awesome! Yes, you need a lot of plants if you want to put up a good amount. I only fertilized a couple times with my general organic garden fertilizer. Peas don’t need a whole lot. More important to get a variety that does well in your climate and resists whatever pests you deal with.

Great harvest- we haven’t done green peas. Lee won’t eat them but I would. He liked black eye peas.

I don’t care for them as much canned, but I like to have these to add to salads, stir fry or soup.

Alright Cathy I have to know. How do these compare to store frozen peas in flavor?? The only one in our house who eats frozen peas is Eli but watching your video there were lots of wows and mmms coming from him so I may have to give it a go next year. A few years back we did pea pods but it was a bit of a miss with all of us.

There is no comparison in flavor. I don’t like store frozen peas-they have a really odd taste and texture. They let them get too big first of all so they’re past their sweetness. I find steam blanching is also key. I don’t eat that many peas but when I grow them, I do enjoy them! Much better than canned, too.

That’s also so cute about Eli, haha!

My wife grows several varieties of peas. She eats them fresh because she doesn't like them frozen. One of these days maybe she freeze some that she likes frozen.

I will have to agree that fresh are the best, but it’s hard to keep those for very long 😉!

Ok, a question. Since not all peas are ready at the same time, how do you store them, and for how long is max before you can freeze or can them till you get enough to do such things?

Great question! If you're only getting a handful a day and want to wait before canning or steaming to freeze, you can put them in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the fridge. I wouldn't go any longer than that. If you only want to can them but need to wait a longer time, I would steam and freeze them until all the pea harvest is done, then thaw and can them. Kind of like freezing whole tomatoes until you are able to can them.
