      Quick chilli plant question! All of my plants are doing great this year, lots of flowers and peppers. However, my ghost pepper plants flowers will open and look healthy then a day or 2 later the flowers dry up and fall off. Any idea what's happening?

    • @ChilliChump
      @ChilliChump  Рік тому +1

      @Nick-cy1dj the flowers aren't pollinating and setting fruit. I would recommend missing them with water in the morning and evening to increase humidity. They should start setting fruit in no time.

    Southern UK - my cayennes, Habaneros and Jalapeños are laden with flowers and ripening fruits. Having a nightmare with my Superhots though. Ghost peppers, Reapers and Armageddon plants have produced tons of flowers but all of them are falling off and don’t have a single fruit set. Upping the P & K in my feeding regime which I hope corrects the issue

    This season has been terrible for me. It started well but when I put them in my tent they just didn't grow no matter what I did so I had to plant a lot of my gals in 12l pots when they were super small. I have done things the way I always have but this season just hates me. I usually would have already harvested at this point and had 1,5 to 2m plants but yeah nowhere close. No clue why this season has been so bad. Good that yours isn't as bac as mine.

    Interesting video Shaun, though I admit my thumb is in a little better shape than your is. Have you been rooster wrestling? Here the season has not been a gardner's dream. Surprizing smoke obscured sun decreases sunlight and brings cooler weather. May warm some over the next 10 days. I can already see I need keep an eye on your seed shop for a few different seed selections. One definite will be your jalapeno. Considering the season, your seeds have produced some very fine plants! I can suggest the same also for Mr. Primo. Am thinking I may need pick off the few ripe pods I currently have, and either make a "What's It" sauce, or freeze the pods for later. Hope your thumb heals well and isnt too much of a bother now! See you and Mrs. CC Sunday morning. Stay Spicy! -Bob...

    My habaneros here in NL (same 1 month of rain here) have no fruits at all yet, just flowers. I have noticed that most plants have started growing fruit much faster over the last week now that it's actually warm and sunny again.

      For some reason, the habaneros in my Canadian grocery store are grown in the Netherlands. I usually get my habaneros from Chinese supermarkets but these Dutch habaneros had me on the floor 😂 it was the spiciest habanero I've ever had. And the next day was absolutely miserable. My stomach was upside down the whole day. Maybe it's something you guys have over there in the water? 😂 did you end up getting a good habanero harvest last year?

      @@theangrycheeto We have a lot of huge greenhouses here in NL where those are grown, even though we are a tiny country we are the #2 exporter of agricultural good after the US, so it's not so surprising to find some Dutch habaneros all the way in Canada! My own harvest (without professional greenhouse) was not that great, but they were quite spicy.

    I'm in zone 5. I have 6 weeks tops of good growing weather left. My super hots have a fair number of pods but they are also starting to get loads of flowers again. Good chance a lot of these new flowers produce fruit and ripen in time. What are your thoughts on pinching new flowers? A lot of people say don't do it, let peppers do their thing. Seems logically speaking wouldn't pinching those flowers give all the energy to the already existing pods, just as pinching flowers in early season lets the plant focus its energy on developing roots?

      Best thing I've personally found is to put an electric toothbrush right up against the base of the flower. The vibrations cause the viable flowers to release lots of pollen, and it pollinates the flower. Other options are to shake the plant, or set up a decent strength fan to blow on the plants.
