Hello sgsgent, my wheels cassette is actually 8 speeds, and im planning to buy a new frame and im going to instal the same wheels but i want to replace the 8 with 10 speeds, is that possible ? ( im changing the whole set of gear )
top video! I stripped my rear wheel on my MTB over weekend as it made a slight noise...I was thinking of replacing the bearings but would it be easier to replace the hub and guarantee the noise gone? I assume once the dust cap etc has all come off and the bearings are visible then the hub should slide off like yours did?
I replaced mine because the cassette gears were digging notches into the aluminum hub. Also if your cassette slips when you pedal, then the ratcheting paws may be broken and you will need to replace the freewheel hub.
The BEST tutorial video on the youtube NICE JOB...
How would I know that my hub would even need to be changed?

Awesomely informative video, thanks.
Interval sprints with Flyin' Ryan? As in Ryan Coover, the guy with the crazy-nice Firefly bikes?

AWESOME VID......that's how a tutorial should be.
good work, cheers man very helpful
7 speed free hubs are too short to accept 8, 9 or 10 speed cassettes. See Sheldon Brown for more information on cassette compatibility.
yeah it worked, as i have 10 / cassette sram red :) totally different level
I believe it is possible to go to a 10 speed cassette from an 8 speed cassette. Of course the shifters must support the 10 speeds.
Thanks, I didn't know that.
cheers
Your welcome!
@sgsgent Thanks!!!!! Exc Vid!!!!!!
