I think with the Tenth Doctor hologram, it's like identifying the Doctor but because they got so many faces, it'll like going through all of them like how the Atraxi scanned him in "The Eleventh Hour".
It's definitely 10 instead of 14 because the face looks much younger. 14 is a much older looking version with the five o clock shadow all the time, 10 was much cleaner looking for his life.
Canadian here. Matt Smith is probably the most recognizable Doctor over here to the general public yeah, but David Tennant still seems to be the favorite whenever you talk to Whovians.
Canadian too. In my entourage, everybody has a crush on 10th and/or a crush on Amy Pond. So, yeah, I would say that from my point of view, Tennant seems to be the favorite and both Tennant and Smith are very recognizable.
That old woman is played by June Hudson who worked on Classic Who as a costume designer and who created Tom Baker's Season 18 costume. She even turned up in a cameo on Class as a woman in a shop.
Also smth I noticed the old woman being attacked is June Hudson, who was the costumer designer in the late seventies and Tom Baker’s last season, nice to see her pop up! Amazing trailer amazing visuals and so much excitement!
I agree Matt Smith’s era reached a whole new and wider audience in America. Those of us in the states who watched classic Who on PBS in the 70s and 80s were more likely to know Eccleston and Tennant, as well as a subset of younger geeky sci fi fans. But the Matt Smith era really opened Who to a wider American audience.
I think destroyed London is a pyramids of mars callback, when the doctor went forward in time to show Sarah what would happen if they didn’t stop sutekh, so the doctor is now showing ruby what will happen if they don’t stop jinx
16:36 Just to clarify, the Regency era was between the tail end of the 18th century and early 19th century (aka, very far from the 16th century, it was the time of the French Revolution)
I have a theory on Susan Twist. I think Susan Twist is Susan Triad who also made Triad Technology, who might also be Susan Foreman because 'S. Triad' rearranged is TARDIS and who made the initials for T.A.R.D.I.S.? Susan, the Doctor's Granddaughter.
15 is dressed a bit like the meddling monk in that one shot with the robes, I feel like the monks going to mess with Ruby's timelines and that's why we see all those different Ruby versions. Also, David Bowie's Changes scoring the trailer implies the monks changing some things up perhaps.
I think the 'step on a butterfly' change in Ruby is that she has changed into a butterfly, we just don't see the wongs in this short clip. From neck down it looks like the body of a butterfly.
That caught my attention too, particularly accompanied by The Doctor and Ruby seeing a devastated London while in their 60s garb. I’m wondering if Jinx somehow sets off ripples that change history so that the 1961 political crisis results in WWIII, or at minimum the destruction of London.
I think Jinx character is another celestial like the Toymaker where is universe was based on games I think Jinxs is based on music and thanks to 14 using the salt he let out more celestials from different universes.
That's a theory I have played with also. But the whole changes in time thing reminds me of the Meddling Monk. Or with the toymaker ring at the end of The Giggle, has the Master been released from the ring and is making changes to ensnare the Doctor.
I dont think RTD would ever recast Jack. He would just never write the character in again., and create a new character to fill the need based on story.
20:05 is a music magazine in the 60's we had a magazine call "beat" and the tapes on the sides say EMI which was a record company the maybe the Beatles appeared on?? I think that's right
I wonder if ruby is a being that morphs with the time period she is in. So time of the dinosaurs…she shows characteristics of that era? Or that era somehow shows what she actually is? The girl in the headband in the sixties episode looks like a younger Mrs Flood
I have a theory. Ruby is somehow special, like the “Impossible Girl”(but in a different way) and somehow can impact the wobbling continuity of Earth’s time progression, even if history is altered and London/Earth is destroyed . It’s why the goblins wanted her, perhaps sent by a higher enemy to remove her. (Or perhaps they created a bootstrap paradox in the Christmas Eve events). And she is better able than others to help the Doctor restore a threatened or destroyed Earth. The shattered glass is on a magazine referring to an actual 1961 political crisis with the USSR involving Finland. The trailer also shows a destroyed London, a tuning fork creating ripples, the butterfly reference/joke, and the Doctor in agony looking at a devastated planet (Earth?). I think Jinx created ripples that change history so that the 1961 crisis triggers nuclear destruction, of London or perhaps ultimately the globe. And that whatever paradox Ruby is somehow tied to enables her and the Doctor to restore the timeline to the history that actually occurred.
Additionally, the USSR’s threats against Finland in 1961 has parallels to Russia’s current invasion of Ukraine. (The USSR had attempted invasion of Finland in WWII). It makes sense that RTD would write a story that teaches that history and highlights its relevance to current events. (Edit to fix factual accuracy)
After Ncuti's epic performance that was a Ken in "Barbie", it HAS to be a musical episode. Plus THE BEATLES! It's a sin against entertainment nature to do anything with the Beatles and NOT have it be a musical. The Beatles songs are iconic for a reason.
Just to let you know, the greater and lesser than keys (< & >) scroll through videos frame by frame, much easier for dissecting trailers, hope it helps :)
The part with the violins in the background the thing is coming out of a timpani drum also I love doctor who embracing music. I think the master and the toymakers music numbers were great! I don't want them to over do it but i would like big villains to get a song and dance routine.
I’m calling it now the Daleks are in the season final The mini episode destination skaro was filmed during the season final and had the same director as the season final
28:41 kinda reminds me of the Fourteenth Doctor’s monologue where he wonders where the TARDIS goes when the HADS activate. Talking about a tribe of primitive beings finding the TARDIS where they try to destroy it, only to worship it, then build a civilization around it. This could be the destroying stage of the monologue.
Wisconsin USA and we love David Tennant. Most people I talk with took a long time to get used to Matt Smith. I'm 67 and been watching Doctor Who since it came to USA. Tennant is my #1. Tom Baker #2. ❤
I Just noticed, the ruined london shot is physically impossible. Tower Bridge is miles away and around turns in the Thames. Maybe they're just trying 2 make it easily recognisable 2 Americans but could this be a warped or parallel world. Idk, it just seemed odd 2 me
I mean often city geography is implausible in TV and films anyway. Like when Bourne is chased by police through Berlin, the route he took couldn't possible be taken. Such things. Or the shot of Japan as the train speeds past in The Matrix Resurrections. That's not what Tokyo looks like.
@11:00 - Miss Flood at first didn't know the doctor, but AT THE END of the episode, when the doctor goes to the TARDIS, the scnee cuts. Then after a scene change Ruby comes out and see he TARDIS and miss flood. So in between the 2 scenes Miss Flood had trhe eternity of time to travel with the doctor.... TIME TRAVEL. In a second during a cut 20 years could pass for the doctor and miss flood.
I’m American and I know David Tennant is my favorite Doctor, though Matt Smith comes a close second. I’ve watched Dr Who since Jon Pertwee in the 70’s here on public TV. The scene with Ruby’s family it’s still Xmas, because you can still see the decorations on the walls. The scene you said reminded you of the Adipose was something or someone trying to get out of a drum.( Maybe a snare drum?)
That's a drum someone's hands are seemingly coming out of at @18:35 and the woman who appears after it in the next shot does bare a passing resemblance to a young donna noble which may just be a coincidence.
Two observations: 1. The monster under the white rubber sheet is actually stretching a drum skin. So this could be from The Devil’s Chord? 2. The three word hashtag Antelope Moment Drums could be a What 3 Words that places the Doctor in South Darfur, which could link to the desert tent scene?
I love how you say the shot of ruined London could be from the Great Fire of London even though you can see the Houses of Parliament and Tower Bridge, both famously built in the 19th century
Hey, you probably won’t see this, but if you press ‘’ while paused, it goes backwards or forwards one frame, could help with finding the right frames in the video
Some of my thoughts: - Maybe the hologram is showing the 10th/14th Doctor, because the owner of the scanning device has met that incarnation of the Doctor before. - Joe: I believe you're missing one very important piece of information in this trailer, and that is the song "Changes" by David Bowie. I believe we are shown some alternative versions of Ruby, some alternative time lines, all created after Ruby stepped onto that butterfly. And by trying to fix this, the Doctor (or Ruby?) accidentally will be creating more and more branches of the time line, which will eventually lead to the destruction of the whole planet Earth. - An alternative time line has already been created, when Newton misheard the word "gravity" and came up with "mavity". Remember how irritated the Doctor was looking at her when Donna used this wrong word? It looked as if he knew that this should be, Donna should know the right word. - Mrs Flood's reaction to the leaving TARDIS puzzles me a lot. She knows what a TARDIS is, but she does not recognise the Doctor's TARDIS, because once you see that one, you will never forget it. So she must have been in contact with another TARDIS user.
The part that reminded you of the Adipose was something breaking out of a large Timpani Drum (Kettle Drum). It appears to be an instrument storage room of a band.
It's interesting that the "mavity" thing is kinda continues and consequences grow exponentially. From a simple change of a word to the change in appearance of a whole species(humans in our example). I think Season 1 will be about the consequences of time travel
Mrs flood idea: so if Mrs flood is ruby’s birth mother, she had never seen or knew of him until he traveled back to sort out the goblins, when the mother is walking away she sees the doctor and the tardis so she stops and stares. Later there is a shot of her walking from a similar place as last time so has barely moved. ?????
The Doctor at the edge of the Universe in Wild Blue Yonder accidentally opened a door for the Supernatural and the Toymaker was the third entity to come in from outside, the Goblins are the next we see. Clarkes law is that a sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, which classic Who played with often, there is an inverse of Clarkes law that sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology and the Doctors jam is interpreting new technology and hijacking it for the win.
That scene with all the stringed instruments in the background (probably from episode 2's Beatles related plot) - 18:11 my instinct says it was meant to be Abbey Road Studios. And that white blobby thing in the foreground? If you look lower down in the frame, there's a rounded metal rim similar to the protective area close to a drum head (I think that's called the Counter Hoop) and a tention rods with T-shaped tighteners. So, somebody was either trapped in or emerging from a drum head? That's already giving me chills! ^_^
There seems to be a theme of “changing time” across the trailer as well as the whole mavity situation so I wonder if this will play into the destroyed London and finale. The doctor has changed time too much and it finally catches up to him!
You really had me confused here (2 minutes in). I thought there was something wrong with my youtube because the progress bar was stuck and wouldn't disappear. It took two reboots before I realised it was your youtube progress bar and not mine.😀
Mrs Flood reacted as Police Boxes are just police boxes and were a common sight to a woman of her age, but they dont dematerialise, so reacts as she realises she just missed the Doctor. She wasnt fast enough to jump on like Capt Jack.
My Theory for that Tardis memorial isn't really a Theory as such but I think it'll be from the Moffat episode. It feels and looks very similar to how the tardis looked at the end of Hell Bent with the Clara memorial.
The thing you said looks like adipose in a sink. It’s a timpani or kettle drum, I’m a percussionist so I play these a lot. They have large diameter plastic or sometimes animal-skin heads. I’d assume this is in a recording studio so this the Beatles episode
Ruby believes her whole life purpose is to "save the world". Scriptwriting code for she WILL sacrifice her life to save it. And of course the Doctor promising to keep Ruby safe is another confirmation she is going to be a goner.
As I mentioned here earlier, I think the Tennant shot is part of sequence showing all the Doctor's faces and explaining who the character is to the new Disney+ audience.
@7:40 - this looks like HUMAN terran suit, from the Touaregs in the desert of the african sahara, or the mongolian tribes , or in india, middle east, very human inspired clothing like human inspired Star Wars and human inspired Dune attires .é (nothing sci-fi to this clothing attire)
16:35 Way off! The Regency era was between c. 1795 and 1837, so 18th and 19th century respectively. The 16th century had a vastly different clothing syle! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1550%E2%80%931600_in_European_fashion
As the Toymaker is the embodiment of play, perhaps Jinx Monsoon is the embodiment of music? Again from outside the universe, and perhaps the finale has the Doctor releasing the Toymaker to counterbalance her?
@12:20 = Isaac Newton is the MASTER. See his face change when he says "MAvity"... his voice turns evil or omnous as well. He was all joyous and gay (happy) when he spoke to the woman near his home... he was not an evil minded dude as he is when he utters MAVITY... This is the MASTER with his fobb's watch OR amnesiac after regenerating
I think with the Tenth Doctor hologram, it's like identifying the Doctor but because they got so many faces, it'll like going through all of them like how the Atraxi scanned him in "The Eleventh Hour".
It would make sense if you want to introduce the new Disney+ audience to the Doctor.

Yes! I didn’t see this before I posted. She maybe traveled in the TARDIS once in this adventure but never expected to see it again.

The thing you said looks like adipose in a sink. It’s a timpani or kettle drum, I’m a percussionist so I play these a lot. They have large diameter plastic or sometimes animal-skin heads. I’d assume this is in a recording studio so this the Beatles episode
The doctor promising to keep her safe. The only thing I can think of is "The doctor lies"
Ruby believes her whole life purpose is to "save the world". Scriptwriting code for she WILL sacrifice her life to save it. And of course the Doctor promising to keep Ruby safe is another confirmation she is going to be a goner.
I don’t think they are recasting jack if it’s a time agent it’s a new character
Hello from America!
As far as I know, David Tennant is the most recognized doctor in Doctor Who...

As the Toymaker is the embodiment of play, perhaps Jinx Monsoon is the embodiment of music? Again from outside the universe, and perhaps the finale has the Doctor releasing the Toymaker to counterbalance her?
Its funny that Matt Smith is the most famous one in America considering that they had an American TV Movie with Paul McGann.
