Yes Roman there is a break-in period. Page 218 of the 2022 Ram 2500 owners manual under STARTING AND OPERATING, Towing Requirements. CAUTION! * Do not tow a trailer at all during the first
500 miles the new vehicle is driven.
The engine, axle or other parts could be
damaged. * Then, during the first 500 miles (805 km) that
a trailer is towed, do not drive over 50 mph
(80 km/h) and do not make starts at full
throttle. This helps the engine and other parts
of the vehicle wear in at the heavier loads.

Fact check Roman and you will see he is sometimes half informed then gets cocky and gives you his ideology and ridiculous analogies. After a few years of this I finally got annoyed. Actually, there is a video in which he bragged to Andre about how he is the top dog/owner. Andre kept his cool, you could tell it bugged him. No need rub those things onto people, that showed who he really is. I fast forward when he talks.

@@M5verdriver You're WAY too triggered over something so small. The TFL gang are all good people, and lighthearted and easygoing.
I haven't read the manual, but "no spark" appears to be quoting from the manual. So what, if Roman got it wrong? Is it YOUR truck that could be ruined?
And if you're legitimately worried that someone might ruin their new truck based on Roman's misinformation, there are ways to contact them and (respectfully) inform them of the error, so they can issue a correction.
There is ZERO reason to hate on them and rake them over the coals, like you did, just because they made a mistake!
Stop trolling! If you want to help, then HELP! Don't be a virtue-signaling douchbag.

The Ram 2500 w/ Cummins is a heavy duty truck, not a Prius. The truck is a workhorse that moves heavy equipment and loads. The 5th gen Ram 2500 is surprisingly comfortable with sacrificing toughness and it's intended purpose. After 20 years of driving Toyota trucks I just bought a 2022 2500 Tradesman diesel and I couldn't be happier with it's simplicity and function. For the price of a mid-grade 2022 Tundra I got a Ram 2500 with a diesel that can pull twice as much and almost get's the same mileage as the Toyota TTv6. No adaptive cruise or lane departure required. A Cummins equipped Ram it will also hold value as well as a Toyota. Welcome to the world of heavy duty trucks where the function of a "truck" has not been lost. Have FUN with yours!

I haul used cars/ new cars (hot shot) and thousands of miles a month. and I have seen more Cummins and power strokes on the side of the road than anything, Food for thought of anyone is actually considering using their diesel other than being a mall crawler or grocery getter. Stick with a duramax and Allison transmission. my neighbor was lucky to get 40k out of his 2020 Cummins transmission replaced

The trany issue went from electrical to servo plate whorpping not able to hold enough pressure or dip stick phenomena? Now, no trany issues yet considering other competition not willing to admit their trany issues the 68 rfe might be the old man on the block that actually works. The more moving parts like 8, and 10 speed the sooner the computer will maladjust.

As far as questions about going with half or heavy duty 3/4 ton... obviously half ton is limited in capability. Half ton won't handle what a 3/4 ton will, but a 3/4 ton will handle what a half ton will, so just go straight to 3/4 ton... problem solved.

      @LoveYourRV 2 роки тому

My 2018 Ram 3500 manual and dealer said the same and not to go over 50 MPH for the first 500 miles. From what I gathered, it wasn't the Cummins engine that needed a break-in period, but rather the rear differential needs time to let the new gears mesh properly. If you put too much load on it right away, you could end up with a rear-end that whines and maybe fails.

I did my wife’s 2012 Acura TL and man I was so impressed and then I did my truck on a 05 Dodge 3500 and did a outstanding job and the price is right and I think it 35 bucks and does both headlights and the shine like a brand new dime. Get them on Amazon.

I recently purchased a 2022 ram 2500 laramie at a sticker price of just under 70k...fuel economy is 20.8 at 70 mph on the hwy and 8.8 towing a 14,000 lb toy hauler bumper pull...my headlights are great , but I think the Laramie has better grade ones. My bed had no liner but has the 5th wheel package . The tow rating and cargo numbers are very low. under 2k cargo and 16,660 max towing . In my opinion, the standard cummins has way less towing power than ford or GM by far..I have had all 3. I would still rate a ram in last place among the big 3

I have a ‘19 3500 with those exact specs. 6.7L HO Aisin SRW 4 door 8’ bed Tradesman. Got it immediately before covid hit. The dealer offered to give me 10% more than I paid on a trade for a 5500 CC Limited. I said no. But man are those 5500 Limited nice. Almost 80k BEFORE upfit. 🤯 My first brand new dump a ‘15 f-550 came upfit from dealer with an aluminum body and plow for less than that.

My local dealers are offering up to 10k off new trucks, and I think we are just getting started.

Actually, you'd be surprised by how many trucks buyers, mainly fleet buyers, find many features useless, or not worth their cost, because for some, trucks are made to get dirty, be beaten up and destroyed, and they're treated like toss away items. Some companies are so hard on their trucks, they will destroy an entire bed, both inside and outside, within a few years, so what good would a bed liner do?
Now, imagine the cost. If I have no use for a spray-in bed liner, that's $500 per truck. If I have a fleet of 50 trucks, that's $25,000 with just bed liners. Now imagine lighting, wheel liners, cargo management systems, tailgate dampeners, it's all wasting money.
However, I do think packaging is an issue. The more expensive the truck gets, the more people expect, so why nickel and dime them for everything? Just roll them into packages that saves people money.

Fuel stations in my area southwest Ohio, $3.79 for 87 unleaded gas, $4.89 for diesel, I’ve noticed recently the spread in regular gasoline compared to diesel has increased from around $0.60 to $1.00 or more, not sure what’s going on?

The reason they tell you to stress it, haul heavy with it from the very beginning is that all the internal engine parts have to get broken in, the seals have to get seated, and they will do that best if you drive it like you stole it.

Led headlights on HD trucks are too blinding to oncoming traffic, especially when people lift them even higher. If the manufactures put projector lens in them they would perform much better than regular reflectors

Let's not be silly here guys. As long as metal expands and shirts, there is a break in time. Me and mybwife both got Toyota Yaris, no break in time!
Mine I did the normal break in. Heat it up let it cool down. Wife drove hers to work 60 miles away, no break in.
Inwas getting 40mpg she was getting 28 to 31. Then we got hit and my car was totaled. Or I'd still be driving it. Don't believe the no break in time bull!

Towing vs PAYLOAD!!!! Many people who buy a 3/4 ton don’t pay attention to the payload of their truck and if you move up to a large 5th wheel gooseneck trailer, a 2500 with a 2k payload is a FAIL….. Learned the hard way and going to miss my Cummins.

    • @BillUtah

I agree! My 2500 HD has a very close to 3000 pound payload with a 9500 pound GVW. I wanted a 3/4 ton with a actual useable payload.
I've seen 3/4 ton trucks with less payload than 1/2 ton pickups.

Ram has a 50 gallon tank you can order for the truck as long as you have a long bed. I’m not sure you can get it for a short bed truck. Those Firestone A/T tire are garbage. I have to swipe my card twice filling up the 36 gallon tank on my GMC. Thanks for giving an update on you Ram HD truck, looking forward to more about it.

At all cost avoid the 68RFE transmission. Aisin transmission only. RFE only lsst 65k warranty runs out at 60.. Ram knows it and it's a common problem.

I loved my 21 Laremie 2500 until I hit 22k miles, body valve in the transmission failed so it’s been at the dealer for a month because the part is in back order. Keep in mind I do tow but not more than 15,000 pounds twice a week and mine is rated for 20,000.
Bottom line is, it isn’t a good towing truck.
Previously I had an 18 F250 for 101k miles never had an issue towing the same trailer.

I think the Silverado 2500 is a better buy in the 3/4 truck market. 1,000 more pounds of payload and IFS for comfortable ride… a “custom” would have been comparable.

I'm actually intrigued by the set up that Magna has and it's so much better than what is currently coming. I'm tired of EV trucks coming with 1200 pound payloads and weird features/looks. I know batteries are heavy but damn, my wrx can almost carry that much weight. An ev set up like that with a traditional rear axle and a decent payload is awesome. Do you think that set up will make it to production and sell to regular consumers?

As a consumer it is the worst of times. I have had a bronco on order 18 months. The reason, oh we can't make enough hard tops or get thus, tow packages. Much less chips. I also have an F150 on order since early November. I Finally decided to buy a 22 Stx f250 on a dealer lot who wasn't try to shift the customer with ADM. Guess I can easily sell it if what I order ever comes in.
