He’s not really answering the question. There are specific techniques and procedures involved. You need a treatment, synopsis of your story even a budget, seed money. Get people who have signed up and committed to work with you, a director, cameraman, actors thar will help you sell your movie. Get your movie as turn key as you can.

how about being prepared, knowing all aspects of the process, able to answer questions potential investors will have (preferably answering them in your spiel before they ask them), and focusing your efforts on people with money and how to contact them? instead of basically 'ya gotta keep looking,' any practical info on investment scenarios for people without millions, but with disposable income, would be helpful, yeah?
there, i've helped y'all out more than ol' spike did, i'd venture to say....

Love SL. But his answer were not specific enough. I would like to hear something like. If you need $5 million budget to make a film. Have $200k in pre- sales, how do achieve the rest of the financing. Thanks FC

Thanks for the comment and feedback James. This setting was great for us to meet Spike but we knew it was only a 10 or 15 minute window of time and we wouldn't be able to get super specific. At the end of the day, Spike didn't duck any of our questions. He was gracious and gave us a signed poster. Probably a day we will always remember.

Conceptually insightful, but not practically informative. But again, it's for every filmmaker to find out for themselves. No one will give away their hard-earned connections, resources, etc.

No real advice here. "Try harder" is a phrase people say when they don't have any real advice to share. I don't think people are expecting a "formula" but give people resources to go to, methods, and share stories on successful financing.

You sound like the guy Mr. Lee described as "waiting for that someone who did all the hard work to just turn it over to you." I don't think you'll get very far with that process.

    • @TheRealDarth_Vader
      @TheRealDarth_Vader 2 місяці тому

@@Taskmediavideo No he is willing to do the work but he just wants more practical guidance like what were the steps he used to navigate so he can use that advice and tailor it to his situation maybe they overcame certain hurdles doing this or that it's nice to know how he did that so you can see useful practical advice and get take aways from that advice. Hard work etc he probably knows that but more specific advice can actually be useful and it's possible.
Theres a difference between a silver spoon and looking for specific information that can help make more informed decisions

@@justinhunt4767 Thats exactly why he need to talk about FUNDING, you have no clue how to get funding do you?
Other than try to get it from "a rich uncle".
As a filmmaker in the industry for over 20 years, the biggest problem with teaching anything about film is no attention givin to explain financing a film.
NEVER spend your own money. Nor family's money!
You need to find investors, and this clown skips right through that, and without funding you aint makin sht.

#Math: if there weren't any horrific EVENTS that occurred to people-of-color, #Spike wouldn't have any or ...how'd you word it? "everything" to turn.
Logically, he wished it weren't any racists in the world. But unfortunately since there are, and they seem to get away with their crimes...for centuries! "This" give Spike A L OT of context/material to analyze.
references: #HowardZinn's history book on America: 1492 to Present & #HiddenColorsDVDs...
Spike isn't just referencing 'race' to be fanciful. It was in place before he was born; and looks like...it'll be still in place after he's transcended. sigh.
We Luv you Spike Lee! You are courageous to Speak where others are Mute...or where some prefer You be Mute!
