Great video Jeff! The problem with most short-sleeve button downs, the arm holes are too wide and the sleeves are too long. One trick I use is to cuff the sleeves a few rolls to help shorten up the length a little bit.

Jeff, agree 100%. I think the reason so many advise against short sleeved (SS) shirts (buttoned down or otherwise), is because the NASA look of SS dress shirts does not work with suit jackets. I'm not a fan of short sleeved polos with suit / sport coats either. However, a short sleeved OCBD, camp shirt, Florals, prints can be very stylish. Not for office wear but totally appropriate for creative fields and leisure time when you want to give tee shirts or polos a break.
You mentioned this before that the shoe can completely change the vibe of an outfit. The green chinos, SS button down paired w/ the coffee monk straps, dress suede or casual desert boot, loafers, drivers, boat shoe, or clean white sneakers makes this outfit 7 days different personalities. Keep up the good work.👍

Man, NICE LOOKS today in the look books. I gotta tell ya,...when the notification came through this afternoon talking about How to Wear a Short Sleeve Button Down Shirt,....I said " Nope, not goin' there....I'm gonna ignore today's video cause I'm not going outside dressed like a math teacher." lol Man, I was wrong. Those were some really good looks. I like the one in the shorts and really liked the last one, the olive and blue one, with the double monks.

All great suggestions, and I totally agree for our time (and your lavalier mic is set just perfect), but, there's a little old skool NASA vibe in me that wants to see that shirt tucked in, with a skinny tie, and tie clip, and some skinny dress pants too! The short sleeve dress shirt just reminds me of the 1960's in the tropics. It was their most casual shirt, but it's still way more formal than we are now!
Nice looks. I really liked the patterned one with the jeans. I rarely wear these because I'm thin and don't often find the extra slim fit I need that I find in my dress shirts.

I'm glad you posted this video. I was always kind of curious how to wear short sleeve button-down shirts. I like your second and third look but didn't care for the first one for some reason. With jeans or chinos, the shirt looks really sharp

hey Jeff, been learning a lot from your videos recently! Gone from one of the horrible mistake makers wearing cargo shorts, to flat front chino shorts. So, some improvement at least. Been watching Alpha, the guy from teaching men's fashion, and mostly you. My main priority right now is to upgrade my wardrobe. I've been loving the Chinos in this video, and your collection of them! Unfortunately, I am a broke college student living on a budget. Do you have any advice where to get these button down shirts for cheap, at a decent quality? Same for the Chinos!

Hey Jeff. For those of us that don't have the guns you are rocking, a single cuff of the sleeve helps to tighten up the sleeves around the arms. Loose or baggy sleeves just kills the stylish look of a short sleeve shirt. 😎

Have you ever done a video on dressing outside your comfort zone? The sixties polos you featured kind of left me scratching my head for example. I remember those shirts the first go around but they are in a way a fresh look. Same with red pants you had on in one video. I like the idea but would perhaps need to wear those around my apartment ( literally ) for a few days to feel less self-conscious. I did that with wearing bracelets I wore them around the house just to get over the idea that I had a bracelet on. Old notions of what a man can wear. I am sure I am not the only one who struggles with how to dress with a little more free spirit. So perhaps a video idea or revisit if you have already done one.

I enjoyed the video and found it useful. But, to be honest, my way of dealing with the buttoned down short sleeve shirt is to leave it in the closet. I simply prefer to roll-up the sleeves (the proper way) rather than commit to a short-sleeve look. Still I appreciate the video. If I'm ever forced to go with the button down short-sleeve (say I got it as a gift that I'm now expected to wear) I'll know how to pull off the look.

I only use short sleeve shirt in summer on the beach I prefer a long sleeve shirt and tuck the shirt but I guess is question of preference
