  • Last week an awakening was ignited at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky that continues until now. Thousands of people have participated in non-stop worship as lives are being touched by the Spirit of God. In this video I talk a bit about this history of revival at Asbury, the nature of the outpouring, and a vision reported by Dutch Sheets in 2001 of a coming revival.

I love that this started in a conservative environment.
I believe that if it started in a pentecostal setting, it would be dismissed by the very people who need it most.
Revival may start conservative, but when Holy Spirit gets involved, things always start looking just a little bit pentecostal.
Let's agree with Dutch Sheets and pray for this to effect the world.

All revivals do seem to have features of a pentecostal character and even where the participants do not self-consciously identify as pentecostal. That is because of the Holy Ghost power that God pours out during these times of refreshing and how the pentecostal movement started out in the early years of the 20th century. In the U.K where I live in and Europe more generally at the time, it was the Welsh Revival of 1904-1905 that was the main impetus for it with evangelists raised up and missionaries sent to the ends of the earth.

Amen... I agree, brother... personally I am not a very "emotional" person/worshiper... my personality is rather subdued and I am neither a Charismatic nor a Cessationist. That being said, I am personally sick of people wringing their hands and biting their fingernails fretting over this "revival" potentially being too "emotional"... Jesus didn't accuse the woman who washed his feet with her tears and dried them with her hair of being too "emotional"...

It may not be your thing, but God looks at the heart. Perhaps, these people are using their gifts to worship God. Every part of rhe body of Christ, is the same, yet different and there can be great variation within that, but the simple gospel message of Christ is the same. In john 17: 20-24, Jesus prayed for unity and then he said revival would come. The more we are unified in that simple gospel message & accept one another's differences, then revival will increase. Love you, God bless 😁

Andrew Wommack has been saying he had a word of God about a huge revival for about 2 years now. Revival has always started with the youth. Sometimes only they are hungry for something real and not caught up as much with life and the world that chokes the roots. Blessings Rod! Matt

I was just a youth that was part of a revival which happened years ago at a Pentecostal church in Marysville Michigan. Still to this day, had I not been there and been a part of the church at that time during that precious revival, my life wouldn't be the way it is now for the better. I am hoping that this becomes a mich greater flame.
Also, I love Andrew Wommack ministries, and I remember hearing the same from him, as I have gigabyte's if his preaching and teaching. They're another ministry that has been used by the Holy Spirit mightily in my life and I wouldn't be in the Word of God as I am today without them helping me out

Sir, it is always a refreshing and an inspiring news about a spiritual move of God from time to time.
I agree with you that we must wait and better yet expect that this move of the Spirit at Ausbury will increase and create an impact like that of what happened in the 70s at the height of the Jesus Movement.
In the midst of all the tragic news around the world and the predominant attitude of rejection of God and His Word, it is heartening to learn that God has His powerful way of getting our attention back to Him.

As I mentioned to you previously, when I arrived in Montreat, NC in 1975 and was saved through an outpouring of the Spirit on that campus, the story of Asbury was still being discussed. In fact, until quite recently, I thought that the revival there had happened only a year or two previously, when in fact it had been five years! I love that this, once again, is being led by the Spirit of God, rather than being identified with any one ministry or person. Also, thanks for the clip from Dutch Sheets. That's exciting.

Pertinent observations Rod on what's going on at Asbury and not the first revival that's occurred there. Indeed, they have a rich legacy of God moving in a special way. Strikes me more as a renewal so far with those young believers really getting to the heart of worship and intimate communion with the Lord all characterised by a Holy Spirit spontaneity with God leading the way. May it impact the wider church for good - charismatic and not so charismatic sectors and then spill into a fervour for declaring the Gospel with many souls saved and God touching lives in a manner 'exceeding abundantly' what may we ask or think of Him.

I would think it's easier to have long worship meetings on college campuses because it's easier for young college adults to walk to their college chapel/church after walking from their on-campus school buildings, dormitories, and activities. It would be more difficult for parents who have additional responsibilities and would also have to drive there. I agree with you that we who aren't there should just stay away and let God Bless these on-campus young adults in their everyday environment and relationships. God Bless for sharing your thoughts.

We worship without purpose, without the intent of entering into the presence of God. To call this revival is news to me.

This spiritual revival is an example of spiritual maturity. Receiving God’s love and in return demonstrating God’s love to others. There are many that say continue to preach foundational things. However, in Hebrew chapter 6 we read to move on from these foundational truths and into spiritual maturity. The result of repeating foundational truths and staying there Sunday after Sunday
is a callous heart that leads to what? Please read Hebrew 6. There is an unrealized evil scheme to stay in the same message Sunday after Sunday along with the quenching of the Spirit. There is no spiritual maturity without the Holy Spirit.

Hi, I've got a question and since this is a charismatic apologetics channel, I think I can ask here. So, I've encountered Eastern Orthodox christians and they're basically saying anyone outside of their Church doesn't have the Holy Spirit and that I should listen to the Biblical interpretation of the Church Fathers and that I have no right to interpret it by myself. They're also saying I'm not interpreting it according to the Church tradition that's traced back to the apostles.
What would you answer to this? Can you give me some strong arguments from the Church Fathers or history that could help me when discussing?
Thanks and be blessed in Jesus' name :)

He is SERIOUS in these verses.
The Holy Spirit WILL guide us into all Truth if we trust, obey and are patient.
They sound like they are using manipulation! Manipulation and control are VERY prevalent in church organizations today.
And manipulation and control are demonic and the OPPOSITE of Christ-like.

He says that there are some in the Eastern Orthodox Church that don't believe you can have the Holy Spirit outside of their church, but that's a minority view based on an extremist interpretation of St. Cyprian ecclesiology. That would be like people in Oneness Pentecostalism who believe that you have to speak in tongues to be saved. That's a minority view in Pentecostalism.

Rod, I’m in agreement with you the vast majority of time, but recommending people not to go is wrong. The safety of the building, etc. is not a problem for the Holy Spirit, anywhere He is moving, ( and, it certainly seems like He is here) . Many reports of healings, deliverance and salvation are coming from those that have attended. A lot of the world needs to attend this, or one of the other revivals that have started in the past few days.

Can you imagine if somebody were to say "ignore those gas fumes ... that's no problem for the Holy Spirit anywhere He is moving"? Churches and chapels get hit by tornados and floods and fires, and weaken just like any other building. If this spreads like Dutch Sheets said it will, there'll be plenty of locations for people to attend without all flocking to one location that's not able to accommodate everybody. But I suspect that you have nothing to worry about. At least two of my viewers have already told me that they're going anyway, so I don't seem to be very persuasive in that regard.

I also believe that God uses sincere hearts no matter what the style of worship music. If this is of God, wouldn't it be more obvious? Wouldn't we be seeing a more supernatural move; healings etc? I just worry about emotionalism and sensationalism. I know how vulnerable we are to these as human beings.
Also, it's my understanding that this started with about 20 people. That night the president of the university supposedly sent out an email telling all the students to come foe God was moving. @Mr Liver - Alive in Christ true. But they decided to become the Pharisees instead of embracing Jesus. That is the difference. They profess Jesus but their hearts are far from him. V different on these campuses. Don't you think?

Already been confirmed by "gay" Christian student there that there are LGBTQ on the worship team and that it is LGBTQ affirming. No wonder they don't preach repentance in this "revival".
