  • A new Thomson Glenalmond caravan on its first holiday trip to Hunstanton, Norfolk. Great footage of the Pier, boating lake, and all the fun of a seaside holiday from over 60 years ago.
A well-shot amateur home movie from 1960 complete with homemade titles.

I was desperately hoping for some footage of the station and maybe a train coming in but lovely film all the same. Thanks.

That was a very well produced amateur film. I remember the train just off the prom near the boating lake. It was the first thing we went on when we arrived to stay with granny in Avenue Road. I think I can just remember the train on the pier, but someone said it was removed in 1958, so thought I imagined it as that's the year I was born. Seems I didn't imagine it, though perhaps it didn't last much longer after that film was made in 1960.

So much has changed and so much is still the same. Have a photo of myself on the boat ride on the pier, was amazing to see it here. Lovely film

This an exstroniody and astonishing piece off cine film I'm stunned and over whelmed by the quality of the picture and to see the pier in full bright clear colour and the boating lake is sheer breath taking... Also this cine film also makes me upset to see what hunstanton has lost.. It lost more than it has gained over the years.... But this piece of cine film shows what hunstanton used to be a lovely sea side resort with train station pier and stone free beaches... I'm so glad you uploaded this... This film has made my day

This was a film I really enjoyed editing as it was so well shot in the first place and yes such great colours as well. I'm glad you liked it.

@@DaveEldergillCineFilm I think it highlights what a thriving place Hunstanton was then. I never went there until much later than this but it's great to see summer holidays of the type I certainly remember.

I lived in Hun’ston from ‘58 and until now I never know there was a train that ran down the pier! My mate and i would be given 2/- by his mum and se’d spend hours and hours down the funfair on that!

My word! They were big on wearing school caps on holiday back then. Why? Great little movie though.

Never knew there was a pier there, I've seen the part of it whats left of it though brilliant. 8mm cine film was very expensive in those days, I was about seventeen when I had one. Loved every minute watching yours though.

Watching home movies on cine film does give a particular slant on social history as it was only those with enough income who could afford to record thier lives in this way. Now everyone seems to own a mobile phone complete with high quality video camera
