I enjoy the “aura” of rdr1 more than 2. It’s kind of more cruel while 2 is more “flippant” and “foolish”. 1 seems to take a lot of inspiration and drive from Clint Eastwood good, the bad and the ugly. Everything from the music to the entire look of the game looks like it could be from that film

I still play it as like you said at the end, it strikes a perfect balance between more modern systems like GTA V and the "dropped into the world" feel of GTA IV. I would even argue this multiplayer is better than RDO just because of the less tedious grind and less tedium in general like oiling weapons, horse upkeep, etc.
I loved RDR Online for the PS3. I thought the idea of pre-lobbies and beating each other up and the shootout's at the beginning of a death-match amazed me. Riding on the buffalo's and just running that one gang hideout at the mines was sick!! Man I wish the PC version had the online!
This was really great to see. I spent 2010-2013 in that online mode, was so proud of my fifth legend character and zebra donkey. "Bolt Action Assassin" title with the golden guns. Did Pike's Basin so many times i still see it in my sleep, hahaha. Had a visceral reaction to seeing it in your video. Was disheartening when modders and hackers took over on 360, so many fake 5th legend level 50s made it almost unplayable. Been a stalwart of the modern RDO the last four years, should hit level 1000 by end of year, but somehow even after all that I still look back at the lawless chaos of Redemption 1's multiplayer more fondly. Wish I couldve captured more images & videos from back then! Cheers

When I was younger I used to get into lobbies and have whole ass wars in Mexico between the different posies. It was extremely peak… man good times… good times…
RDR2 is so sad to think about like RDO is still somewhat fun with friends, the issue though is that Rockstar was seemingly so willing to give it up for GTAO we never got to see it really shine. It's still on the same stage that GTAO was on in 2015 before they added heists.

Seems to me RDO was always going to be a cash grab. When that failed, they began moving resources away from it. Rockstar could've easily meshed the online campaign with the Story campaign, for example (that could've easily established that the reason why your character is in jail at the start is because of association with the Van der Linde gang or something), by placing the timeline at after the events of Story Mode (i.e. the span of several years) and thus giving more of the characters players liked in Story Mode. Instead, they placed it at a few months before the events of RDR2... which completely ruins your suspension of disbelief and introduces characters and plotlines players frankly couldn't care less about. They clearly didn't have a clear vision of what they wanted for it. Also, here's something not everyone is aware of: they were actually listening to player feedback and suggestions for a while. I say that because the Trader role they implemented was 1:1 to something I had suggested back when online was just starting, down to the details (as many as I could fit in the form, anyhow). Unfortunately, that didn't last long, and they reverted to their shittier selves after a while. If you look at a lot of the later items added to the game, you'll notice that the quality visibly drops, and they no longer have any pretensions of making clothes and other things actually authentic.

Never played back in the day as I pretty much skipped the PS3, XBOX360 era & went straight from PS2 to PC & PS4, but this multiplayer would have slapped on PC. Bet someone ends up releasing a mod on PC for Multiplayer, maybe some RP style mod. Very nice video btw!
This game is still alive on Xbox sadly only in regular free roaming aka auto aim free roam. You’re not enjoying this game’s multiplayer if you’re only playing with auto aim. Hardcore free roam is where it’s at. Limited radar, free aim. Game was gangland back in the day. Still play it to this very day. Undead Nightmare is so much fun in free aim online.
I would have loved to try hardcore or even friendly mode but nobody sadly was in there. Also my aim so so dog water that I’ll happily let the game do it for me lol

What you have to do is start a posse and drag people into hardcore free roam, that’s what me n my friends do when we have an itch for some blood. Sadly everyone leaves after one land grab. My older videos are nothing but hardcore free roam crew battles, free roam wars, and mini games my friends and I use to play together. Best gaming experience ever. I’m always looking for more people to play Hardcore Free Roam with but kinda hard with my busy schedule. I know so much about the multiplayers, tips, tricks, and glitches. I’d love to show you.
even the game will not have the online version in steam pc i'm glad the game came to pc is been like almost 7 year or more i didn't play this game and i had the sad moment that i never played the normal games only had the single version of undead nightmare by the time i was still playing in xbox so see the game coming to pc making me cry and hope that one day i can have the chance to have it again and play it and if somehow modder team manage to make the online mod working the character i will play will be Vincente de Santa

Glad this video popped up on my homepage. I was pretty young when RDR came out so i didnt get to play much, but ive got great memories sitting down with my uncle and playing RDR online that I'd practically forgotten. A true blast from the past
I played RDR on PS3 as soon as it came out, it was the best multiplayer game on all consoles in my opinion, I'm so disappointed that there is no multiplayer on PC.. I won't buy it because the multiplayer was the only thing i needed on this game.
I would like to add I think any Xbox version has the mulitiplayer because I have and Xbox s digital copy and I have the mulitplayer so do with that as you will

Rdr1 does a better job at being a cowboy game than rdr2 does
@ a different type of cowboy gave it guess. More gritty and harsh. 2 feels more flamboyant to me. I appreciate tge old style much more now

I hope modders make unofficial multiplayer mod for PC version. It would be similar to SAMP or MTA or FiveM.
