It must be one of the coolest things in the world to be a video game player and be able to play a game as yourself as one of the main characters of that game. I absolutely love tlou1 and 2.

wow, I was also hit in the face by a golf club as a child, when I was 11, a virtually identical story to yours - it was the same type of club, a driver, which belonged to a friend's dad. A group of us took it out to a field to play with it. My friend swung it to take a shot, I was standing in the wrong place and the club swung around and hit me right in my cheek, knocked me out, broke my cheek bone, blood everywhere. I was lucky not to lose my left eye. The wound had to be stitched and I still have a scar from the experience to this day. It was a pretty traumatic incident, tbh - not just for me but for the boy who hit me, too - it was a complete accident. You're the first person I've ever heard talk of having a similar experience, so we are childhood injury buddies!

Poor Jocelyn at Joel’s death
I feel like in the scene after Joel’s death, Tommy’s sort of relieving comforting his family again. Like he must’ve when Joel lost Sarah, his brother losing his daughter (tom’s niece). And NOW seeing his niece (Ellie in a way) grieving over his brother all over again :(. Also Jocelyn, YOU ARE THE SWEETEST AND COOLEST PERSON! And I’m sorry about everyone coming after you about Abby, it’s really immature and you don’t need to go through that. Thank you for showing us your second play through and your emotions for this series because you are amazing ❤️

I know we all feel for Ellie about Joels passing but damn, Tommy really carries a heavy heart and its clear in his scenes. Such a strong set of characters ND imagined for us. It never feels like this is just a game. It’s so tragic and heartbreaking.

I think the pain in Jocelyn's face is the shit that this scene make to her life for all the hate that came after that. She is bravely confronting it on live. I dont have anything to say but bravo.

Yeah, it broked all of us, but also manage to do 2 things:
1. Transformed Joel in to a martyr and also one of the most loved character in this industry
2. Through Joel death and the journey that followed, Ellie was rebirth, found peace and closure to a painful chapter in her life.

@@sassyqueeniesweetiebaby1133 wouldn't say he had it coming. He shot her dad sure.... right before he was about to cut out a child's brain for experiments that they had zero success with thus far on other subjects.
On top of that Joel is the only reason she is alive. He literally pulls her from the clutches of death and he and his brother fight side by side with her when they could have left her to die with less risk to their own lives. So clearly, they're decent people and she should be questioning her drive for vengeance on these "monsters." On top of that, fighting side by side against a common foe naturally builds a level of trust in humans. Which is of course how she manages to get him to drop his guard, betray that, and kill him.
She would be a much more sympathetic character had she spent more time with him and come to realize on some level she forgives him. Then one of her friends killing him thinking she was being held against her will or something later. Instead she gets to be a POS because her POS father got killed trying to kill a child. Ellie going nuclear on her friends and letting her go would be a decent punishment had she been more sympathetic. Instead the game leaves the feeling that SHE had it coming, and Ellie fails to do what Joel would have done for her.
Jocelyn, I'm really impressed by the quality of your likeness in this game. And I feel that, by the end, Abby as a character was done justice and was written beautifully! Thanks for portraying the likeness of such a great character ☺️
Very poignant moment when Ellie smells Joel's jacket, it's exactly the kind of thing you do when you lose someone you love.
Abby is a wonderful and complex character, I loved her. Her journey for redemption goes through a lot of pain. And I just imagine what would be like if your father would get killed in the process of making a cure for mankind. Nice work of Jocelyn and Laura Bailey. I really appreciated your performances.

I love Abby, too. I'm not sure if that is a rhetorical question, but I think she did it out of harboring years of resentment and contempt towards the person that took her dad and other fireflies from the world. One of my favorite things about this franchise is the demonstration of how compassionate people can get needlessly caught in a chain of violence until a victim can rise above the pain and break the cycle with forgiveness.
@@TanWam I still agree with him, i think most of us atleast me knew he never was the Hero, and thats what i loved about him still love his character. He is the John Constantine of the Injustice, he isnt a Hero here to save the World, Joel always was and always will be a Father, thats what he was at the start and thats what he was til the end. In a World like this, there is no right and wrong side, just different perspectives, and pretty sure even though he didnt said it, but Abbys father would have probably did the same as Joel if it where Abby or maybe not, but i believe that the fact he didnt said something made me think he couldnt *kill his own daughter* just like most parents.

i watch critical role (laura bailey and ashley johnson’s d&d show) and they get the expressions and mannerisms of those actors down so well it’s insane. Like abby is a perfect mix of how Jocelyn and Laura express it’s crazy

I really think that Abby is a good character. Sure, she has done some bad stuff, but didn’t (almost) all characters?? That is the point of this whole game. How this aituation has changed humanity, and what trauma and getting revenge can lead people to. Like I always say, Ellie and Abby are just different sided of the same coin. They have both lived unimaginable trauma. They both got their revenge. They are both very well written characters with incredibly painful trauma… I am not saying you have to like Abby, but she really is VERY similar to Ellie, and I like to say that if the things that happened wouldnt have happened, they could have easily be friends, in an alternative dimension maybe. So yeah, sure, you dont have to like her, but it is kinda weird, since theyre so similar. And something you CANT do, is show hate towards Jocelyn, or blame her for something that a fictional character does. Please show her respect and love. Thanks :)

I went into this game completely blind, was able to avoid the spoilers. I happened to get to this part on father's day. Fucking father's day ☹️ Joel is the dad that I never had, and this broke me. I hated Abby when this happened.
HOWEVER, after playing the game fully and digesting everything, I can say that I love Abby's character. Abby wanted the same thing as Ellie, you can't love one without loving the other. They are virtually the same, and I love that the game shows that revenge and hate is a brutal cycle. This game was an absolute masterpiece.
You're also taking the hate very well. I couldn't imagine being in your shoes, receiving literal death threats over something that you didn't do, didn't write, and didn't even voice. You're holding up well, and seem like such a kind soul 💛

I never hated Abby’s character as I understood her pain watching someone you die. No I didn’t see my grandfather ran over in cold blood not only that killer got away without any arrest. Anyways I know the rage, pain, revenge you want to inflict on the other person for taking something so dearly loved from you. I don’t have a father figure in my life too but my grandfather was one almost like Joel in a way caring, fun to be around, cherish moments with you, hangs out with you and plays with you like a child. So I understood the feelings Abby had and I never blamed her especially in a post apocalyptic setting. If this wasn’t in such a setting let’s say this game was just a modern civilization with no apocalypse Abby would of gotten justice by having Joel arrested. Then her rage and revenge would of gone away.

The scene at Joel's house is so relatable. The way this games portraits being at your paternal/maternal figure's house after his/her death is so well done... The feeling that something's missing and the fact you'll never get it back again is present in every moment while being at Joel's house.
I had that feeling twice in my life: returning home after my mom's death and then playing this scene. It was rough.

Abby and Lev are my favorite characters! Of course at the beginning I was upset with Abby but, then I got to know her side of the story and really ended up liking her! Same with Ellie, I still love her too

I watched part 2 before I watched the first game so I didn't have any of the biases that the die hard fans had going into it and I thought it was an amazing story! The Abby character doesn't do you justice! You're way prettier in person!

I think those who hated the Abby character really needs to sit through the whole game and stop listening to the haters. I'll admit I didn't like her at first, but once you get to her part of the game, you definitely change your opinion of her.

And I can't imagine how you felt when you were reading all these comments about killing you or something terrible about your family. I knew Joel's death had to come in some point because of what happened in the first game but god, it hurts, I have trouble watching the cutscene. I'm not mad on how Joel got killed because he didn't deserved a heroic death(IN MY OPINION), but OMG it hurts watching it😭

probably brings up bad memories considering how awful people were to her. Laura Bailey got death threats and harassment but so did Jocelyn and a lot of people would attack the character of Abby and call her ugly without caring about the person that was her face.
If I were her I'd be sad too remembering how people were sending me death threats over something a video game character did
When the actress who plays Abby understands the pain of many fans at the horrible death of Joel, you just have to see the face of suffering at the scene. In the same way, Joel is an antihero who stole the hope of humanity for the love of a girl who reminded him of his daughter. Joel had his reasons for acting that way in the first installment. Abby got revenge from her for taking away the opportunity for humanity to live in a better world and also for the death of her father, who only wanted to save them all.
Joel, he was wrong, but he did it out of love.
Abby is a good person and she had necessary reasons to do what she did.
We love Joel and we love Abby.
They should make a prequel game where you play as Joel when he is a hunter and as Ellie’s mom in the fireflies.

If it were Dina who were captured and killed, I personally wouldn't care.
They had to go with Joel because in order to go on a vengeful murder spree, you gotta take away what's dear to us.
In this case, Abby tortures Joel to death, driving the players to the objective.
It doesn't matter wherever we would care or not. Nobody loved Ellie or other characters when TLOU released in it's first plays. She was just a rando being taken somewhere. The player doesn't have to care to go through with something.
@@bggsz4 That works for the first game as its a different type of story. The journey doesn't require emotional investment to start and it grows as they travel together up to the twist in the finale. We are getting to know the characters as they get to know each other so our emotional state kind of matches theirs. Here though, to really feel how Ellie feels about losing someone she loved, we have to also lose someone we loved and that would be Ellie or Joel. One thing I thought both games did really well and one of the reasons I love them both so much is they really put you in a characters shoes, making you feel what they feel.
