Thank you for sharing. Every people involved in the making of this game knew what they were doing, the whole staff, from developers, to artists to musicians. Their devotion is what makes Shenmue a real masterpiece.
This is amazing. I always thought this game was way ahead of its time... Something always made it stand out from the rest. Doesn't surprise me they are taking so long to make a third one with all the time and effort that went into the first two! And there will be a third one sooner or later. Trust me there will.

Ulfhedn4r - Fakebit Music This is curious. This is mechanical motion capture and i think it's coming back and will be hailed as the next step after the optical motion capture :P There are some companies that are working on consumer-priced versions of such systems right now.

The game engine is now pre-built for you (Unity), the 3D modeling and art tooling is all in two applications (3DSMax/Photoshop), Voice acting will all now be done in Adobe's VoCo, music is done digitally (FL Studio), exploring environments for level-design is all now done through Google's Street view, historical imagery on the web and UA-cam, And documentation is all easily fetched from a Google query. A one billion-ton office building full of grumpy staff, now became just a 7 to 12 pound workstation-laptop inside a small school bag with just one developer at the task...

I love the old Saturn theme, I hope they use it for part 3, highly unlikely I know. It's so damn epic, would be fitting for the series return.
