I found that the plug gap increases with use. Mercedes specs .031" and I measured twice that. Remove all the plugs, clean the threads and bend the ground electrode till you get .031". If you do this every 20000 miles or so, you will save the coils. Also, use electronic contact cleaner on the coil connector. I had no bad coils after doing this.
Changing mine now, as demonstrated, it is best to remove the wire loom connector BEFORE loosening the bolts because I removed the bolts first and now when trying to remove the wiring connector it is a little more challenging because the unit now moves as I tug at the connector.
zkgroup this is completely up to you, you will most probably find many options for brands that fit your car at your local auto parts store. I personally got mine from Autozone.
You’re most welcome! Spark plugs and coils don’t get power with the ignition off, so unplugging the battery is only optional and not required as long as the ignition is off.
sanjay kansara the brand of the ignition coil that i used is called AM Autoparts. The interchange part number is 2729060060, 610-58718, UF535. And the manufacturer part number is AM-450982233
