I normally use Autosol, takes a bit more work but makes them look like new again

On gen 1 mt10 headers were steel, gen 2 I believe titanium.

Looks like good stuff! I’ve used Harpic to get mine back to normal but I didn’t know it harmed them... may have to invest just before I get the bike winter ready 😀

Best thing to do is clean them before they get that bad. When you wash the bike clean the headers and polish with WD 40 so they don’t get all rusted and tarnished in first place because rust will pit them

I was a bit dubious about using Dr downpipes on my MT10 as the video doesn't show much of an improvement, but I bit the bullet and gave it a go,mine looked far worse than on this video and I must of used three quarters of a bottle and spent a couple of hours cleaning and whilst it doesn't look brand new it is a vast improvement on the bronze colour they were but with a few slight imperfections, maybe another couple of cleans will improve it further

Warm the exhaust a few minutes from cold makes a huge difference 👍😉

Lol DrDownpipe loving the name. Harpic is horrible harsh stuff that stinks. I used it before and it stained the chrome on my bike. Nasty stuff. Rather use a cleaner that is for motorcycles. Good video @motouk thanks for sharing I saw this drdownpipe cleaner recommended in the MCN. Going to buy some now my downpipes annoy me they are so brown.

You used far too much mate. I'll stick with Autosol. Much cheaper, lasts for ages and if applied after every ride the pipes stay like new.

Sorry but your idea of clean and mine seem to be very different. They still seem incredibly tarnished. For the price I’d expect it to work much better than that. I’d expect at that price for them to look brand new and not need to be done every wash.

This DrDownpipe stuff is a quality product I have used in on my XJ6 downpipes that were brown and it has made them like new. Harpic says on the back corrosive to metals. It leaves your pipes dull with a black tarnish in (I have tried it) there is a video on here about not using is as it affects the chromium in the stainless steel hence they get dirty a lot quicker. You will get Harpic lovers everywhere like its a £1 toilet cleaner. NOT a motorcycle product. Would you clean your car with bleach? You can clean your bike with £1 fairy liquid or 12.99 mucoff. You get what you pay for. One is for cleaning dirty dishes. One is a motorcycle-friendly cleaner. Pay ya money take your choices.

@@MOTOUK1 no i use it since years! protect other pieces. apply it with a brush and it'll stick the pipes. wait 2min and rince. good luck!
