This space is the furthest from finished. It has a lot of interesting plants. It will get much closer to being finished in the next few months. There is now a playlist for all of these videos in this series. ua-cam.com/play/PLxYqoR2FCE_1MGa8WltgyXGuswMfHYSUL.html

I love how you introduce great plants most have never seen. Texture & coloration is so much fun in the shade/part shade. It requires more thought & understanding of the plants to make the beautiful & interesting garden you've got going on. I'm loving these detailed vids!

Love these slow & detailed videos, along with your sharing of personal experience with each plant. I recently planted 2 Illicium floridanum shrubs and am so happy with them. Had to buy large size, but glad I did.

I live in Western Texas where it got -17 and stayed below zero for 10 days this winter. All 6 of my Soft Caress Mahonia looked dead and died back to the ground. Took them awhile but 5 of the 6 came back and are looking good!

Thank you for giving us the good, bad and ugly with these plants. Everyone shows their plants at the top of their game, which is understandable but I wondered why my hydrangeas had ugly brown spots on these. I just thought it was my care. I also compared my coneflowers to the others beauties and they came up short. As a new gardener I am learning everything has a season and it isn't always my fault.

That was maybe my favorite of all the July tour videos, because of all the unique shrubs and groundcovers. However, can't believe you'd talk about your mahonia like that, and to its face!

I love all the more unusual plants you showed today, especially the nandina.
I have planted and killed brunnera 4 different times (I am in the Atlanta, GA area) planted in various shade conditions , with average moisture. The leaves just turn black! Is there a secret to getting them established?

By waiting for wood prices to go down for your fence, I can look forward to the savings going into looking after current and buying new plants for your garden tours! No problem for me waiting for the fence if that is the reward!

Dont worry about showing us the mess Jim, it's called reality everyone has a spot in there garden thats a catch all, crap, trainwreck of an area. But maybe you could find some dry shade ferns to put back along the Woodline and do a video on dry shade ground covers and perennial things. I struggle with very dry shade under my maple tree and sun bc the back (which faces west) is cut flat due to powerlines

Hi Jim, great vid. I have a "Work in Progress" part of my front yard 72 x 160 city lot. I am determined to conquer it next Spring and finally be done. It has been a pain in the rear end for years. Weeds and nothing lives that I plant. Complete soil removal, a retaining wall and replanting. I really enjoy your vids alot here south of Chicago in Illinois. Pet Holly and Griffin and you have a great weekend.

Hi Jim. I have been following along with all your videos. I love everything you have done and get a lot of inspiration from you. We have similar gardening mentality-I like to start plants from seed and just plant “it” and if it doesn’t work there-move it. My whole yard is a work in progress! I do have a couple questions: 1) what kind of potting soil do you use (I use lots of pots in my landscape) and currently use miracle grow potting mix and 2) I have lots of hellebores. After blooming they remain green throughout the summer, but about this time of year they start to flop. I’ve had them for many years, but for the first time last year I cut them back to the ground and they came back beautifully. Thanks so much for the videos and all the knowledge you offer-and inspiration.

Hi Jim! Loving your garden tours! I have a request. I live in Oklahoma and have mostly alkaline soil. Wondering if when you are talking about the plants and giving details about each plant if you can specify if it is something that requires acidic soil. I get my hopes up for some of the plants that you talk about but then when I Google it I find out it can’t really tolerate our alkaline soil, bummer. Thanks😎

That Golden Oakland Holly gets 12’ - 15’ wide and 15’ to 20’ tall. Do you plan on moving the other shrubs as the holly matures? Or, will you have to severely prune it every year to keep it in check? Are there any dwarf choices?
