    I have one in carbon steel that my father bought me years ago. It’s a great knife. Camping in Norway we toss rolls of wet heather into the fire, the smoke chases the little buggers away. A nice long sleeve shirt helps too.

    Insects are called gnats (pronounced nats) or midges. The Lynx is a high value/low cost blade. The birch handle and leather sheath are nicer than the plastics of Mora/; Hultafors and it has a fantastic blade.

      I’ve been looking into Marttiini knives lately. Probably why they’re not as common is that we’re flooded with Mora knives. Same with the Hultafors as with the Marttiinis. Excellent knives, but just not as common in the US.

  • @Marcus_Shaw
    @Marcus_Shaw Рік тому

    This is my wife's favourite knife as the shaped handle is easier to grip and the blade is easy to steer.
    Tough enough for splitting logs for the fire but also great for spiking and splitting lobster or cutting fillet for the BBQ.
    Probably one of the easiest knives we have to sharpen, condition and strop.
    Usually I use a Victorinox pocket sharpener and strop on my belt which is plenty to get it stupid sharp 👍

    Marttiini doesn't seem to get a lot of love here in the US. I own several and they are some of my favorite knives. If you want to get away from the gnats come to Texas. The unbearably hot and dry summers tend to kill them off, as well as mosquitoes and even people if it gets hot enough :).

      @@Thoristesting It works for batoning for sure, I had that modell for 9 years. The handle cracked when i was chopping down a small tree (3-4cm diameter). As new it probably works fine but when tree handle gets old and dry like mine did its another story. Still I would not baton with this knife, if it breaks then youre in trouble. Using a knife with broken handle is not fun.
