WCW was the number 1 wrestling company for a period of time at least. I doubt AEW will ever be able to claim that especially with Tony Klown in charge. So no AEW is not comparable to WCW.
@@vcom741 Personally, I felt like DDP, Scott Steiner, Booker T, Sting, some of Goldberg, some of Nash, Vampiro, Mike Awesome, Chuck Palumbo, and Jeff Jarrett as well as the many cruiserweight were all still giving decent matches. I’ll admit the segments were lacking but a lot of that is because injuries and constant reboots. As well as some fans making a big deal out of the things that weren’t even that bad (Russo or Arquette winning the title…) Jeff Jarret’s character work was on fire from 99-01 imo and probably my favorite part about that whole era. nWo 2000 would’ve been nice to see continue but again, Bret got injured. Listen I know these were the bad years, but if 99-01 was considered a train wreck, at least there was SOME good and it was a fun train wreck. @LRM5195 the only thing I can agree on is Scott Steiner and JJ's character work. But the rest? Talented people almost always misbooked. Mike Awesome is probably the prime example of that. They removed it from the UA-cam Video and have been copyright striking people on Twitter for posting it 🤣 That is so unbelievably sad lol. Meanwhile Punk looks like a complete badass. How can you possibly kneecap yourself so hard?
Someone correct me if im wrong...what was the point in showing this? it literally just proved everything CM Punk said. He SAID he threatened Tony if he didn't do anything and wont like his solution. He SAID he attacked Perry and choked him. So whats the point in showing the video if it didn't contradict what he said? A lot of people were calling him a liar in the MMA hour, but now I personally don't see him as a liar anymore. Yes he lost his temper...etc but he didn't say otherwise. This video made him more believable now with all the other dumpsters fires that he mentioned. Jeez there was a sync video to what punk said with the video, it goes beat by beat the same lol. Also, if you get into a fight in AEW must get you fired, then the elite storming to Punk''s locker room, attacked him and injured him with his dog, and they're still not fired or considered aggressors, just bleh this whole thing is a joke PS: Tony was just sitting there doing nothing MY GOD!!!!!!
If Vince McMahon was in Tony’s shoes, he’d have put a stop to things before they spiralled out of control. Punk may not be free of guilt but Tony shoulders most of the blame. He’s supposed to be a boss. Your comment of course lays it all out but Aew revealing the footage only corroborated what Punk said. Aside from trying to make Punk look bad, I don’t know what the young bucks end goal is. And I don’t know why they’re EVPs. I left a comment under the Ariel Helwani interview video where I stated: firing punk wasn’t even Tony’s biggest mistake, his biggest mistake is one he’s still making to this day and it’s not knowing how to be a boss and run a business. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t run a business to save my life but Tony makes me look and you and probably everyone else look like proper businessmen.
This is ridiculously anti-climactic and nothing but a desperate ratings grab for a floundering AEW. I hate that this is what AEW has become after such an exciting first few years. I have a feeling that aside from Drew WWE won’t even bother acknowledging something like this. In addition, Punk didn’t lie about what happened in his recent interview. This is vindicating for Punk and makes both Perry and Khan look utterly ridiculous.
The thing is, he did insinuate that he threw the first punch because in the interview with Ariel he said this: "And it's just like what Chael said, you can't let them get close". If you know the story then you know it means that he made the first move. I don't think that's a bad thing by the way, just making an observation.
I know the story - major difference is that Wanderlei was the physical aggressor in that situation. Here, Punk is the aggressor AND the person that throws the first punch. Even after Punk shoved Perry the first time, Perry was relaxed and not looking for a physical altercation. Utter bullshit on Punks side tbh.
@bennwardhaugh3013 Punk? Sorry, there was no "Punk" in this video. Corpo Phil feels more appropriate. Anyway, nah. All that "pleb" did is have a dumb idea that got shut down, while 21st century's Hulk Hogan divad his shit out.

Punk is literally having the time of his life right now, being back with WWE. Even since he was injured during the Rumble he's literally been having the time of his life.😂😂😂
For those of you saying that Tony Schiavone was embarrassed, No he was not. He was in fear for his life because the guy behind him yelled at the camera.
Honestly I’m no longer sure AEW is a wrestling company and I don’t think their megamark fans want it to be. They’re all acting like this is the worst, most violent thing that could ever happen, but I thought this is where the best wrestlers wrestle. And when one guy is running around pretending like he’s a big bad pro wrestler when he’s not, the upper management decides to let a wrestler deal with it, wrestler things happen. I’m not that mad and I don’t think most rational people care either. Either AEW is a wrestling company or theyre an office building, they need to decide. If they want to be a wrestling company, they can’t pretend this is a big deal. If they’re an office building, yes fire punk, but why is Perry allowed to cuss out multiple coworkers and higher ups with no consequences? They need to make up their minds
Ridiculous. This helps Punk more than AEW. This is Punk doing exactly what he said he did. Not showing us would be worse because the stories people made up were way worse than this.
Incorrect Punk claimed jack got in his face. Where? Punk said he only choked out jack. He did not. He had a head lock A head lock is not a choke He also shoved jack which he left out He then claimed he let go of jack when Joe said stop He did not

Dude just trying to watch and enjoy AEW is a fucking nightmare. God forbid I praise the company in any way without getting all sorts of weirdos lighting up my inbox and comments.
Not related but I’d love to see a Steve and Larson hall of fame ceremony type speech where they thank each other and say nice things about each other and they accept awards from each other (made and commissioned by each other)
Bruv talking about stones in glass houses, when nothing is more fragile than his ego. And I guess Triple H's comments (which weren't wrong) was the stone that shattered it. This really is the circus, ran by Tony Klown. I feel bad for guys like Dustin Rhodes. Hope he goes back to a real wrestling promotion someday soon to finish his story.
Finally just gets it’s out of the way. FTR knew, buccs were hilarious, Chris Hero IS A HERO, Jack’s return is imminent and I can’t wait for Drew’s follow up(s) from this! Period!
Referee Aubrey working overtime taking those videos down, I see. Also Steve, the crowd were chanting CM Punk even during the showing on the big screen as it was happening. All caught on video from someone in the stands.
Here's a hot take apparently: am I the only one that viewed this as Punk sucker punching Perry? Don't get me wrong, AEW should have shown it 8 months ago, or not at all; but at the end of the day punk is clearly the type that will only fight when he can throw the first punch at someone who's literally just having a conversation while others are around to make sure he doesn't get his comeuppance... Guess he did learn something from his time in UFC after all 🤷🏾♂️. In my time in the Navy if we gotta beef to square up over, we take it somewhere else so all parties are on equal footing. I don't care what the reason you're upset over, you don't sucker punch someone, then choke them, and act like you did something... I lost respect for everyone involved but Jack Perry honestly lol.
Tony should have released the footage sooner but people celebrating a grown man having a temper tantrum and fighting someone 20 years younger than him is wild.
I'm sorry but I disagree. When I originally heard of the situation, I was firmly on the side of Punk being totally in the wrong full stop. Frankly ... this doesn't fit the image I'd built up in my mind. This is like your everyday locker room dust up in any sports team. Not nearly as violent or unhinged as was made out. And if the phrase "what're you gonna do about it?" was actually used ... you're literally inviting someone to make it physical. You can't complain at that point. Maybe my memory is bad, but in the aftermath I remember it being said that Punk said something like that. If it's in fact the opposite, that puts it back in Perry.
@@kyletucker3811 if you’re a veteran and you’re trying to set an example you don’t do what he did, if it was someone like Lance Archer there’s no way he tries that. He had 2 altercations in a year with 4 different wrestlers at some point it’s not everyone else, it’s him and it’s only a matter of time before he does this in WWE again against someone smaller than him.
@weirdfan88 no proof of this. Punk claimed he did. But as we saw form the video almost none of what he said happened so why would we trust the rest he said? He didn't choke jack. Jack didn't get in his face. He didn't stop when Joe asked him He didn't just talk.to khan He lied about almost evreything that day but we are to just belive the rest he said?
3:28 okay, this actually makes me feel bad for Okada. He wanted to have faith in Tony and the Bucks to treat him right and they immediately let him down.
I mean, yeah, punk was the one who made it physical and it looked like he waited until perry had his hands in his hair, but, like, was that ever going to change anyone's mind? Punks fans don't care if he acts like an ass, they could have showed him running over a box of puppies in an F-150 and people would still cheer for him.
Steve whenever I am suggesting a wrestling channel for someone to watch or take a page out of, it is going in raw. You are IMO the most unbiased and straight shooting channel there is. Love you guys
There have been some horrendous takes everywhere. It's really straight forward, They shouldn't have shown it, but staying quiet on TK's part has been the wrong move. Simply put, Brooks should not have put hands on a colleague, he shouldn't have threatened or lunged at his boss... try and do that it in your own job and see how quickly you get fired or hauled away by the police. Everything else is just tribalism noise. Support good wrestling, support good creative.
I’m not a fan of Punk in the slightest, but Steve and Larson brought up a good point when talking about this the other day. They said Phil said it was a rental car and it makes wrestlers and the company look bad when you damage a car and return it even if you have insurance on it. Punk was wrong for fighting for sure, but Perry needed to listen to Tony S. and others who’ve been in the business longer. A lot can go wrong doing those types of spots too. I remember when Brock hit a fan with a car door or Goldberg breaking that limo window. Goldberg cut an artery if I remember right. Neither were right in this.
@@DamonHardin I completely agree, Punk was right it fucks over other wrestlers trying to get cars. Doesn't mean assaulting a colleague is OK. TK needs a head of Talent relations and a head of creative... he should've handed over the reigns as soon as we came out of Brawl Out.
@@LTDPotential 👍Yeah I completely agree. It’s never ok to do that. I was just saying Perry needed to listen more. If Tony Schiavone told him no like reports say, that’s where it should’ve ended. Don’t have to listen to Punk but Schiavone should’ve been respected. I think most people want AEW to succeed. Hell, I’ve only watched the first AEW Battle Royale they ever had. It’s not for me, but I would never want WWE to be some monopoly. AEW needs to hire non wrestlers who can make all of those judgement calls to stop bs fights like this. The toxic few that want AEW to burn aren’t worth entertaining.
It was all sad and pathetic. Didn't change anything. Punk was in the wrong. He got fired. Did not need to be shown, especially this way. Now AEW looks like a clown show. AEW has so much talent and potential and this is just moving them backwards.
If what he said about Perry saying "what're you going to do about it?" is actually true-which, given the footage basically shows exactly what Punk said it did, I'm inclined to believe-then that's on Perry. You are literally challenging the man to make it physical. In the aftermath it was suggested Punk was the one suggesting they settle it physically. If it's the opposite, that completely reverses how I was seeing the situation. Which was initially that Punk was in the wrong. I'm not saying he did the right thing. I'm just saying the blame pie basically gets turned on it's head and makes his part far smaller and everyone else's exponentially bigger.
This is CM Punk job, in this moment, he is supposed to be a professional. Do you know what a professional does? He either walks off and ignores him, or he brings this up later and tries to peacefully resolve this issue, a.k.a being the bigger man. Not trying to start a fight were you throw the first punch and be a wanker. Pro wrestling won't survive as a business if everything is " solved " with an actual fight. You see, this is coming from someone who wants to see professional wrestling succeed not only for the fans but for the wrestlers as well. Not what you 2 sound like were you think the best way to handle something is your fist. This behavior from Punk isn't acceptable in any kind of workplace, and it shouldn't be acceptable in professional wrestling.
@@christianbotter3125 people in real professional sports fight all the time in practice or the locker room. We seen Draymond Superman punch jordan Poole in the face and traded JP to the wizards. This punk video was nothing compared to Draymond
@miguelortiz5286 Did no one tell you that professional wrestling is staged? The only bad blood should be going on in the ring in the storyline, not backstage.
I'm disappointed in so many wrestling fans defending Punk's behavior. This is the adult world where you can't assault your co worker and get away with it. This isn't high school where it's not about who's right or wrong but who looks tougher. Even if it was, the fight was broken apart by Samoa Joe and others so quickly that it's insane to act like Punk kicked Perry's ass. But don't let facts ruin a good anti AEW narrative.
Yeah stay in your safe space and away from actual athletes, because they would bully you into tears. This stuff happens ALL OF THE TIME IN PROFESSIONAL LOCKER ROOMS. Word of advice for the rare chance that you meet an actual athlete, don't talk shit to them if you're not ready to get punched. In the real world when you push a man too far this is usually what happens, it's worse when they're athletes. Which is why coaches and I don't know, bosses are supposed to intervene before things get out of hand.
Anyone who thinks this validates Punk has their head too far up Cornette’s ass. I’m not saying AEW should’ve shown the footage within storyline like they did-they shouldn’t have. There was a way to show their side of it. This wasn’t it. Tony could’ve easily had an interview equal to Punk’s where he could’ve shared the footage. This doesn’t help anyone in AEW. Yeah Punk again looks like the unhinged old man most intelligent people have seen him as since All Out. But the Bucks showing us what we already know makes us wonder what the Bucks hoped to gain.
@LTDPotential This is the wrestling business. When someone tells you to do something about it, you do something about it. This isn't a Cornette thing, it's a man vs. boys thing in the locker room. It's the position every major figure would support. Just listen to Bully Ray's account of Perry on Buster Open. Perry is an entitled little wimp who would have got thrown out of the WWE locker room because he didn't pay dues, and this wouldn't even be a story because the boys who have been in the business and respect the culture of the business would have all agreed he deserved it. This is nonsensical. DB clearly did Punk a favor because this shit is a Tony Khan issue, not a Punk issue.

@@LRM5195name a good match from 2000's wcw.
Or a segment that made sense.
AEW is just a slow boring swerve into a ditch that keeps me either yawning at best or cringing at worst lol
@LRM5195 the only thing I can agree on is Scott Steiner and JJ's character work.
But the rest? Talented people almost always misbooked. Mike Awesome is probably the prime example of that. The insanity of 2000s over an Eddie Kingston or Bry-d's match is something I won't understand, but you do you dood

Also, if you get into a fight in AEW must get you fired, then the elite storming to Punk''s locker room, attacked him and injured him with his dog, and they're still not fired or considered aggressors, just bleh this whole thing is a joke
PS: Tony was just sitting there doing nothing MY GOD!!!!!!

I'm not sure you can ever let Perry back in a ring again. He's crying at the end of the video. He looks so weak.
Cody Rhodes is also not safe from this either.
Pfft! Say bye to your title faster cuz you defended the clowns :P
The thing is, he did insinuate that he threw the first punch because in the interview with Ariel he said this: "And it's just like what Chael said, you can't let them get close". If you know the story then you know it means that he made the first move.
I don't think that's a bad thing by the way, just making an observation.
You don't think it's a bad thing that a psycho punched a tired co worker?
I know the story - major difference is that Wanderlei was the physical aggressor in that situation. Here, Punk is the aggressor AND the person that throws the first punch. Even after Punk shoved Perry the first time, Perry was relaxed and not looking for a physical altercation.

It doesn't make Punk look good, he's the instigator at every point. But it was a mistake to show the footage.
Agreed
This footage is like the one exploding barbed wire watch
I've lost all respect for Punk at this point. Perry had his hands in his hair before Punk pounced😂. Apparently Punk thinks he's still in high school.
You leave the same wrong take on all these vids, 😂
Poor Jack Perry. This is probably the first tiime he has ever been in a fight.
No it doesn't. Words are words. Punk walked up to jack. Punk pushed. Punk choked
Jack did nothing.
Punk did talk to him when Perry was throwing a tantrum. Obviously, that didn't work, and there is no boss to keep people in line, so Punk handled it.
@weirdfan88 no proof of this. Punk claimed he did. But as we saw form the video almost none of what he said happened so why would we trust the rest he said?

I mean, yeah, punk was the one who made it physical and it looked like he waited until perry had his hands in his hair, but, like, was that ever going to change anyone's mind? Punks fans don't care if he acts like an ass, they could have showed him running over a box of puppies in an F-150 and people would still cheer for him.
Steve whenever I am suggesting a wrestling channel for someone to watch or take a page out of, it is going in raw. You are IMO the most unbiased and straight shooting channel there is. Love you guys
There have been some horrendous takes everywhere. It's really straight forward,
They shouldn't have shown it, but staying quiet on TK's part has been the wrong move.
Simply put, Brooks should not have put hands on a colleague, he shouldn't have threatened or lunged at his boss... try and do that it in your own job and see how quickly you get fired or hauled away by the police. Everything else is just tribalism noise. Support good wrestling, support good creative.
THIS.
Thank you for being the sane person in the comments.
Thank you so much Steve! I thought I had to wait till tomorrow!
I'm going to start checking for CM Punk under my bed every night from now on

This is CM Punk job, in this moment, he is supposed to be a professional. Do you know what a professional does? He either walks off and ignores him, or he brings this up later and tries to peacefully resolve this issue, a.k.a being the bigger man. Not trying to start a fight were you throw the first punch and be a wanker.
Pro wrestling won't survive as a business if everything is " solved " with an actual fight. You see, this is coming from someone who wants to see professional wrestling succeed not only for the fans but for the wrestlers as well.
This is pro wrestling, not a nine to five. Jack Perry fucked around and found out
Yeah stay in your safe space and away from actual athletes, because they would bully you into tears.
And for the record in a professional setting Perry would've been fired before Punk ever got to him so don't leave that part out.
