KUHN EL 282 Power Tiller || On Peat Soil Sod .. Seed Prep

This was a last minute decision to prep 11 acres to seed into grass.
This field hasn't seen tillage in years.
Yes we could have used a disc, but resorted to this tiller.
Don from Vale Farms was hired to till this up for us.
Couldn't plow this because it was peat soil, would just plug up the plow.
This is the rental field across the rd from main farm. We have a 5 year term on it.

Just a tip, we used to do this sort of tillage to re-seed years ago with 100 inch Howard rotavator, works great but you are travelling a bit too fast, I appreciate you have the power in front of the machine but going that little bit slower mulches the ground up a bit better and makes it less cloddy. Enjoyed the video brought back memories.

What type ot tools are using for that kind of heavy sod?

Why not spray to first kill the grass and then till? I sprayed wild fescue to kill it in my fields that I later drilled with Orchard grass. Once the fescue was dead, it tilled and incorporated nicely as organic matter.

Was doing the perimeter to set up tracking for gps

@@seansexton729 yes was rolled prior to seeding Rolling Soft Peat Soil Prior to Seeding
Seeding was done with a combo seeding unit you can seed on one of my other video also done by same contractor
