By the time 1971 came around, Tyler's go to was weed, coke, and Jack Daniels. It gradually grew to heroine, LSD, quaaludes, acid, and pain killers. He had sobriety and wagon failures several times up until 2008 and has been "clean" since...

It may not be the classic Aerosmith line up but I love Rock in Hard Place. It's a great hard rock album. Steven Tyler delivers his vocals with so much swagger on that album. And he obviously had a good writing relationship with Jimmy Crespo for the short time they worked together. I think the album deserves to be recognized amongst their best work. But I'm glad Joe and Brad returned.

True But lets not act like he wasnt doing plenty of blow and that would be easily more accessible more common and way easier to find and easier to handle, but its just when he happened to have heroin he could just fence himself up in a room and snort himself to what was it i forget it was either 97lb or 88lb i forget its been a few years since i saw the lowest number quoted, but 76 pontiac silverdome you get to see how small he got and thats while wearing something that exaggerates a persons frame. i've done all of it and wore all the same stuff, heroins got teeth for some people like it did with Jagger smoking it, Jerry Garcia Smoking it, Steven snorting it, Billy Idol Snorting it, where as others like to move and not hide away, thats What Ozzy Osbourne was like, Then Lemmy was different yet again with amphetamine. i had heroin kill me used it again and was still never enthused about it, i never got what the great legend about it was like but for others it does that it absolutely gives them that blanket that says ''Don't worry it's all good, stay with me and you'll always go back to that warm cozy place'' where as all the other drugs largely are unpredictable with each usage other than acid which isnt addictive. but lets not act like the dragon cant be tamed here Bill Burroughs was doing it for 40 years straight he must of had some kind of leash on it to have a habit last that damn long, and he was what? in his 80's when he died. So sometimes yeah......but sometimes no, its the person not the drug, thats evidenced by the fact that not everyone gets addicted or chooses to do the same drugs over and over, or some dont get elated by the same experiences others do and consider it potential hell.

101 comments as of writing this. Since all that people seem to be looking at is if someone is high, drunk, etc., did anyone listen to what was being said? Steven Tyler and MTV are literally auditioning each other. This is ground zero for the cross over between rap and rock. Steven is asking MTV how big are you. MTV is saying we are big enough, can you give us something good. In July of 1986, "Walk This Way" came over the airways (I remember it well). At 1:38 (approx.) into the video (Walk This Way) Steven gave MTV what they wanted (by sticking a MIC stand through the wall) and a whole new style of music was born. Sometimes you can learn from listening to what people are saying instead of just trying to figure out there intoxication status in an interview (that's really boring people).

I guarantee you, if you were to read the transcript of this interview without video, you would discover that Steven answered every question articulately and coherently. If anything, this interview demonstrates that despite losing his best friend and having to adapt to two new guitarists, Steven was able to shoulder the burden and maintain Aerosmith's continuity until prodigal Joe returned from his experiment. Thanks to Steven and Jimmy, Aerosmith never broke up and can proudly be hailed as the world's most durable rock band.

Permanent Vacation had a few killer tracks on it. But some other songs on that record were just kinda making up the 120mins.. But Pump was a seriously great record. Australia was a part of that tour. I was a 15 y.o. in grade 10 and snuck out of home, met up with 2 mates and the 3 of us jumped a cab to the show in Brisbane, Australia and sprinted past the security at the entrance and into the pit at the front. We were 15, we didn't have 40 bucks for a concert ticket. Man it was a freaking awesome show. It was my 1st ever live gig. I was just a kid from the country in the big smoke. Just a few months before that the highlight of our weekends was chasing kangaroos and wild pigs on horseback trying to shoot one for the old man to butcher. And suddenly I was surrounded by leather miniskirted, black t-shirt wearing, vodka n coke drinking Bon Jovi hair wearing girls! I didn't even know there was that much pussy in the whole world. Some had what looked like 15 earrings in each ear and a few in the nose with a chain connecting them. It looked like they had slipped and fallen into someone's tackle box. What a night!
