I always love watching the "making of an album" type of rock-umentary documentaries, just seeing how the bands work together is interesting and so cool!
How lucky are we that someone decided to record this. Especially when one of the most amazing licks was created at 4:41. Imagine a camera when the Beatles created their hits. This documentary should have been nominated for an Oscar.
I know this is an older comment, but we don't have to imagine what it would be like to see the Beatles create some of their hits when Get Back releases tomorrow!
Yeah sold 7x million record. Hard to get a #1 album in the mid to late 80’s. Pump went to #5 and it was very popular. Me and my friends listened to it all the time.
a true insight of the brilliant, neurotic, chaotic, and totally fulfilling process of creating a recording. tyler's outlandish public persona hides a sharp musical mind.
I still have it on VHS. I bought it back when it came out in the 80s. I have since transfered it to DVD. Love this video glad someone put it online. The one I really want to get my hands on is the old Video Scrapbook their are several clips from it online.
you gents are all phenomenal musicians without a doubt in my world from the early 70's been along for the ride enjoyed more shows than most @ 50 something sure came up quick and still going.
Brad Whitford (Winchester, Massachusetts, 23 de febrero de 1952) es un guitarrista, y compositor estadounidense, conocido mundialmente por formar parte de la banda de hard rock Aerosmith.
8:28 watching Joe just go unmovingly still whenever Steven comes over and touches him/ his stuff is priceless. The man had to nurture that patience very carefully. It reminds me of grumpy older dogs who just go still when they are touched by people they don't like as a way to signal the bite is coming if you don't sod off.
Damn!! Steven is like a dream to work with as a guitarist and musician.. he's got the can do energy, will definitely get me out of a funk and keep the creativity following. He's a gift to music
❤❤❤❤❤ Thanks 😁😘💋😃👍 my life is complete now , AEROSMITH IS THE VERY BEST IN LIFE , LOVE YOU , ETERNALLY. I have much passion for you !! XOXOXO , hugs & kisses, BIG LOVE. 😘🤗😀😘😘😘😘💋😃👍
The day Aerosmith died was when they sang DON'T WANNA MISS A Thing. Steven kept chasing the popular over produced ballad and the easy $$$. Pump was the last GREAT Aerosmith record.
Hard disagree on Pump being their last good album. Get A Grip, Nine Lives, and even Honking on Bobo are good albums. I liked Just Push Play too, but it doesn’t really sound like an Aerosmith album.
Brad himself admitted recently that he’s not much of a songwriter. He just plays the parts given to him. Plays them incredibly well and in his own style though!!
I have this in full on "video tape" back when it first came out in 1989. That was then and now it will be 30 years next year (2019) that it came out. WoW! Am I really that old? This is now a "Classic" just like me!
Hey my creative process my creative processes is waiting I'm studying everything from you guys thank you for UA-cam which is the only way I can get it not happen I'm going to keep doing what I need to do one of those things is studying you guys and I can hear and see and know that you're going for along the way teaching people how it's done thank you.
"Pump" is the only Aerosmith album not recorded in the 70's which can be called a true classic. After this album, they had too many outside songwriters contributing, which seriously diluted the band's original spirit.
Angelic Storm true the last good Aerosmith album IMO was get a grip even if it wasn't cohesive like pump. Nine Lives is where they lost me as the songs never had any hooks that could have you tap your foot to. None of their 21st century material has me either. I also don't know what Steve was doing when he did that country album of his
Yeah I agree I think pump and get a grip were the last two great ones I absolutely hated just push play wasnt to fond of nine lives although falling in love was a great song if I want late 80s early 90s aerosmith usually I go.to a greatest hits which I love but for me 70s aerosmith all the way 73-79 I adored the early years
Get a Grip was ok, too many ballads, but the thing about Aerosmith is they know how to make songs that will sound good live at a concert. While i don't like their later stuff it does translate well live. so they are smart in that regard. I still like 70's Aersosmith the best.
Ohhhh !! I don't know how to thank you !! i was looking for the whole DVD for a long time. Where did you find it ? did you buy it or did you find on the internet ?
You always hear all of a Rock Star everyone liked to have a beer with: Steven Tylar ain't one of em..Perry, maybe. Tyler just get on your nerves. Fast!
What I used to wonder is how anyone can go from a song like "Back in the Saddle", to the very generic and card bored sound of "Love in an Elevator' and "Jamie's got a Gun", and countless others to follow. I now know, but didnt back then. The original producers were far superior to that of the ones to follow. The first album, with the exception of Dream On, had such a raw and edgy feel, lots of texture like Write Me, Mama Kin, and Walkin' The Dog, even though the titles are perverted, I did not know any better, but loved the songs anyway. The producers were brilliant on this one and perhaps the few albums that followed, especially considering the material they had to put up with, but after that, it was never nearly as good. My guess is that the original producers got pissed off and walked out on the project, and it is no wonder why.
WHAT AN ALBUM!!!! Still a brilliant listen in 2024. They were in the pocket with this one, right in the sweet spot. AND STEVE & JOE were gorgeous!
I always love watching the "making of an album" type of rock-umentary documentaries, just seeing how the bands work together is interesting and so cool!
Facts!!! You truly see the magic haooen
"What It Takes" is one of the greatest studio recordings that I have ever heard. The turndown at 3- 3 1/2 minutes is incredible.
Even all these years later, Pump will always be "new" Aerosmith to me. ;)
Dude you pop up everywhere! 😂 but you do make great content though.
Im 46 and couldn't agree more
@@myhometucasa5489 'Done With Mirrors' was the last, true Aerosmith album.
Ya me too. Lol
Yuo
Tom, one of my favorite bassists and severely underrated
I found that he really shined on 9 Lives
can't play this record loud enough. First Aerosmith record I ever got and still one of my all time favourite albums
I love how Steven connects Star Trek to him and Joe
One of the most under rated albums I know. I just love it!!
what the hell you talking about? Pump was 7x Platinum in Canada and the US, and Gold in Germany and the UK. Not bad ratings
Definitely not underrated, tons of people love this album, probably one of the best later Aerosmith albums.
Yeah sold 7x million record. Hard to get a #1 album in the mid to late 80’s. Pump went to #5 and it was very popular. Me and my friends listened to it all the time.
Magic is happening. Just watch and see!! The guys are the best ever!!! I love them. Huge part of my life, listen to their music. 💜☮️💋
I like these type of videos (Mötley Crüe Uncensored, A poison one, etc). And of course this one
You can tell that Steven is the main driving force, and no question he's a genius who knows what he's doing but I can see why Joe got tired of it lol
a true insight of the brilliant, neurotic, chaotic, and totally fulfilling process of creating a recording. tyler's outlandish public persona hides a sharp musical mind.

Happy aniversary Pump! Aerosmith Masterpiece

One of the first cd i listened to and it introduced me to aerosmith i was about 11 years old. Great memories.
Bought this on tape when it came out, i've still kept it even though i haven't had a VHS player for nearly 20 years !
Lol Steven acts like he's 25, love him :(
8:28 watching Joe just go unmovingly still whenever Steven comes over and touches him/ his stuff is priceless. The man had to nurture that patience very carefully. It reminds me of grumpy older dogs who just go still when they are touched by people they don't like as a way to signal the bite is coming if you don't sod off.
Steven sometimes act like a 5 year old 😂 (no offense)
its good to see them in the studio together.
Steven Tyler is a rock n roll monster.
Snap your fingers close to him and he'll come up with a song based on that.
Damn!! Steven is like a dream to work with as a guitarist and musician.. he's got the can do energy, will definitely get me out of a funk and keep the creativity following. He's a gift to music
One of my fav albums of all time

My fave album from them !
The day Aerosmith died was when they sang DON'T WANNA MISS A Thing.
Steven kept chasing the popular over produced ballad and the easy $$$.
Pump was the last GREAT Aerosmith record.
They are not dead! They still go strong today!
Hard disagree on Pump being their last good album. Get A Grip, Nine Lives, and even Honking on Bobo are good albums. I liked Just Push Play too, but it doesn’t really sound like an Aerosmith album.
Nine lives was great
My first Aerosmith album. At first I didn't really dig it. Funny how you let stuff grow on you after a time. Definitely one of their better albums.
Mike Stanislaus tone deaf
Thanks so much for uploading ! It´s a great insight on how the band works on a new album! Hope the new one follows the "pump" sound
Joey Kramer is the sweetest, he needs more airtime.
A gentle reminders from Miss Bobby's as one of the Judges from Neptune ☁️🌨️ planetary motion sensor lights impacts.
Best rock n' roll quote I've ever heard, yeah baby!
ROCKS...nuff said'
@ 5:47 is just pure epic sounds like the original riff from "What it takes".
bmxf1 so relaxing too
Joe is So Handsome and Hot!! Love Him!
Why don't they give Whitford more spotlight...?
he has never gotten the respect he deserves, i agree
+Rob Hansen - They booted Ray Tabano for him 1970. I knew Ray and Steven in Yonkers all the way back to 1964.
Maybe be doesn't want the spotlight?
He’s the better player
Brad himself admitted recently that he’s not much of a songwriter. He just plays the parts given to him. Plays them incredibly well and in his own style though!!
I actually own this on VHS 😂
How did Steven Tyler's thing about how Joe Perry is different from him translate into the Star Trek thing?? Lol
Joseph Michael "Joey" Kramer (21 de junio de 1950 en Nueva York) es el baterista de la banda de rock estadounidense Aerosmith.
Steven is a Keyboardist and Drummer he is a musical icon.
F.I.N.E is the best track on the album.
I got Pump and Milli Vanillin for my birthday that year which my folks bought from Strawberries lol.
Joe❤️
I love Steven Tyler of Aerosmith.
I love to see steven at his happy/fun self in the studio.Cracks me up everytime.
Sue, You're so cool! Thank you for uploading Aerosmith Vids!
Its funny how they often refer to Draw the Line as a bad, drug induced album. I disagree. Its a great album.
I LOVE that whole album!
Agreed! "Kings and Queens" is one of my favorite Aerosmith songs. Easily top 5.
RIAHP is arguably the black sheep of their career but I love it.
THANK YOUUUUUUU!!!! For uploading!!!!
Great album.

I know, it's magical!
Steven seems like a very intense person to be around
"Pump" is the only Aerosmith album not recorded in the 70's which can be called a true classic. After this album, they had too many outside songwriters contributing, which seriously diluted the band's original spirit.

you obviously haven’t listened to Nine Lives smfh
You haven't been listening to, Rock in a hard Place, Done with Mirrors, and Permanent Vacation. Haven't you?
Permanent Vacation=outside songwriter bullshit
Yeah I agree I think pump and get a grip were the last two great ones I absolutely hated just push play wasnt to fond of nine lives although falling in love was a great song if I want late 80s early 90s aerosmith usually I go.to a greatest hits which I love but for me 70s aerosmith all the way 73-79 I adored the early years
What's the name of the song that Joe begins to play at 12:19?
Millieex33 .... voodoo medicine man.
Round and round was on toys Joey
I love listening about everything about!! Aroesmith, and you all rock!!!
Still can't touch their '70s music.
Classic vid...I had it at one time.
Cool
Why is Kramer standing beside a ladder?
F.I.N.E. is the closest thing to old mean 70s Aerosmith on that album...
All killer no filler album.
Can't help but think of the "preserved moose" during these interviews.
2:36 "The Guru" has spoken! .-)
How to make art... friggin awesome
Pump their last truly great album........
Get A Grip was very good but Ii do agree with you.
Get a Grip was ok, too many ballads, but the thing about Aerosmith is they know how to make songs that will sound good live at a concert. While i don't like their later stuff it does translate well live. so they are smart in that regard. I still like 70's Aersosmith the best.
Too many ballads on Get A Grip? There's only three ballads out of thirteen tracks on that album.
only??
that’s just not true. what about MFAD or Nine Lives?? where have you been??😒
Too much drugs, too much egos, too many wives..
..
Theme at 5:50 please?

"You see?" xDDDDD
Today the great bands dont use a real producer, they do it themselves and theres no one to push them and tell them what is crap!
You always hear all of a Rock Star everyone liked to have a beer with: Steven Tylar ain't one of em..Perry, maybe. Tyler just get on your nerves. Fast!
Realm23 X7 lol steven gets on perrys nerves like hell 😂😂😂 so funny to watch because i cant help but love his crazy annoying ass
