I love the way you talk, and also your beautiful accent. How can you not be wonderful people with all that beautiful Nature around you? Love you , kiss from Europe.xx
can't wait to do this project with my grandson Myles. Thank you for sharing your talent. Mimi
As a concrete aficionado;) may I point out that concrete cures via chemical reaction not evaporation so too much water can cause it not to set. Also too much pigment can reduce the strength of your finished project, so glaze heavily pigmented pieces. Also with your flat poured pieces you could pour your concrete and dust pigment on top like when coloring concrete drives and floors. Dust it on like glitter, wait 'til it cures, and just dust off the top. This is also good for making impressions, because the pigment will act as a stamp release. Finally for fun try coloring your water with food coloring or a little acrylic paint. This will change the intensity of the color too.
These are great tips, thank you!
+Beadaholique one more thing I forgot. Concrete stains, because it is actually porous, especially with oil. So if your piece is going to be handled a lot then it does need to be sealed. Matte should keep the concrete look.
I have very oily skin so I would definitely seal.
good advice, I think some use Carnauba Wax for that but I haven't tried myself.
What sealer would you recommend to use?
Oonagh72 have you used a sealer over cured concrete that yielded good results?
they look awesome
Beautiful!
Love this!! Going shopping! 👏🏼👏🏼
Eager to try this!!
Can we cover it with warnish glaze to make it shiny and keeb it color???
Hi, I was wondering if you can use other powdered pigments in it like PearlEx or Perfect Pearl powders. Also, will it work with liquid colors like those used for, food, soap, or resin? Maybe substitute some of the water for the liquid color, what do you think? Have you tried this? Can you add stuff like glitter. I'm guessing you can since you added the Rox glitter. Can the Artist Concrete be sanded, drilled, or carved after curing? Any info you can give me would be great. Thanks! Dee
+DeeEll86442 Hi Dee, all great questions! This is a newer medium for us and we are still experimenting with a lot of the things you asked about. Yes you can sand it with a fine grit sand paper and yes you can add glitter to it like how I added the glitter rox. For the other questions I will need to do some more experimenting and get back to you (which I am happy to do). I know you can use the powder concrete pigments in resin but I am not sure if it works the other way around, using the resin pigments for concrete. I will play a bit and get back to you soon with my findings.
+Beadaholique 🙋🏼Hi, I just purchased some of the product from your store and I look forward to doing some experimenting of my own. I have been a professional polymer clay artist for over the past 20 years and I'm always looking for new products that I can use with or in conjunction with my polymer clay creations. Have you ever used the concrete with silicone molds? I just bought some new Gambling dry pigments that I was hoping I could use to color the concrete. I was thinking since you use water with the concrete then you should be able to use a water soluble pigment to color the concrete. I look forward to seeing any new ideas you may have for a use of the concrete. Thanks for answering, take care, Dee😊👍
+DeeEll86442 Hi, sorry I missed your follow up question, and hope you've been enjoying the concrete! I have not used silicone molds for the concrete but I am guessing that they will work fine (I just can't guarantee since i have not used it before) . The concrete has proven to be incredibly forgiving and easy to work with. I would just do a little experimenting first before doing a large batch.
I have jusg started working with the concrere myself and have had exdellent resilts with silicon molds, they work great!
This reminds me of the cut gem filled stones you can buy which can be very expensive to buy- now we can make our own version of them- thank you very much- seen all three of the videos for this concrete product and ❤️ them very much- please make some more!! I would like to know if you can add photos to the concrete as this is what I use with polymer clay- if it can be done- then would make things a lot easier for me as I've a disability which effects my hands and wrists!!
Hi, I am so glad you like the videos! I unfortunately can't think of a way to add photos to the concrete but I would be very curious to hear of one. I think the problem is that the concrete drying process is very different then that of polymer clay and also it starts out completely liquid which is an issue with photos and papers. If I do ever come across a way, I will make sure to share.
Wouldn,t it easly broken if falling?
Preciosos!
Muchas gracias !
I wish she would have done the ring too. It looks like a deeper mold and I'm wondering how she attached the concrete "bead" to the ring? Is there a rivet to put in the wet concrete? Or is it just glued on? And, couldn't you add more colorant to get the finished product darker? Or does that mess with the concrete ratio? These really do look cool.
+tall treesinc The concrete was just glued onto the ring base using E6000 glue and yes, you can definitely use more pigment to make the pieces darker. If you wanted to, you could also embed something into the concrete when it's almost dry to make adhesion a little easier. There is so much you can do with the concrete and it's really really easy to work with!
+Beadaholique Thank you!
Could you add more colorant to the concrete to get a darker color?
+Jessica Buero We experimented with adding a little more pigment then the manufacturer recommends and were able to get a darker color. The concrete is much more forgiving with its mixing ratios than resin. Give it a shot and have fun, just bear in mind that you're experimenting and it's possible your darker pieces won't dry right. You can see some of our results in this video ua-cam.com/video/k-agrAVHrtA/v-deo.htmlm48s As you can see they're darker, but still not as dark as the pigment itself.
Can you recommend a glue or what to use in a project like this one or polymer clay for attaching earring posts to the back? Is hot glue safe? Do you sell super strong glue?
I would recommend E6000 glue. It is my go-to glue for projects involving mixed materials such as the concrete being glued to a metal finding. I think you will be happy with the results and E6000 is a very affordable glue too which is nice. www.beadaholique.com/p-36938-e6000-industrial-strength-glue-adhesive-018-fl-oz.aspx
Could you use crushed up chalk instead of the pigment?
We don't recommend it . It might weaken the concrete. Thanks for watching!
Will these glitter roxs tarnish over time?
The glitter is actually glass so it won't tarnish. Thanks for watching!
would these pendants break easily or chip if they fall since its cement?
Yes, if dropped on a hard surface (Like, say, cement) these pieces could chip. It's beautiful stuff but it does have the weaknesses of cement as well as the strengths.
Beadaholique thank u for ur reply
Do you need a mold release with the concrete?
Mold release is not necessary with concrete, but it can prolong the life of your mold. Thanks for watching.
Is a mold necessary to do this technique and if not what else can you use?
You can use and old spoon as a mold. You can pour into a bezel and embed the glitter in the center the same way. You just might have to bit of sculpting to get a good recess
Thank you sounds awesome
Do you have to seal this?
These really don't need to be sealed. The flakes will stay embedded and the concrete is quite hard. If you ever do something with drawing on concrete or rubber stamping, then you would want to seal them to protect the images from wearing off, and for that I would recommend resin spray: www.beadaholique.com/p-63490-castin-craft-resin-spray-multi-purpose-clear-gloss-finish-sealer-525-ounces.aspx
Where did you get that mold and what size is it?

Considering the cost to buy everything you need to make fake druzy, you could buy several pieces of high quality real druzy.
that might be true, but I think for most people that make these it's more about the fun in making them and creating something from scratch. Also when you make it yourself everthing from color to design to shape is yours to choose and your not limited to what is offered for sale.
I really appreciate a good faux in a way that is different from a real thing, it's all about the skill and yes, the fun!
Kinda a poor design with the bails , also i would of kept the glitter In a bit more of a uniform line rather than spread all over
