"Mrs. Bixby and the Colonel's Coat" is a short story by Roald Dahl that first appeared in the 1959 issue of Nugget. The story is Dahl's variation on a popular anecdote dating back at least to 1939: a married woman receives a glamorous mink coat from a man with whom she had an affair. She hopes to sneak the coat into her home without arousing her husband's suspicions, but soon discovers her husband has his own plans.

Hey Lewis.
I listened whilst watching the Tales of The Unexpected episode.
Michael Horden.
Such a great actor.
Loved him in the M.R James drama, 'Whistle and I'll Come To You.
Still frightens me whenever I watch it.
Enjoyed this very much. Thank you. 😊
You are most welcome! 🙂🙏
Thanks for reading!
I just saw on televison this story being shown on Alfred Hitchock Presents, which was directed by the master himself, and thought that is was truly outstanding, and I thus decided to listen to the original story as it had been written by this wonderful writer.
Brilliant. I have a collection of all of the film versions. But have never gotten round to watching any of the as of yet.
@@lewiskirk8289 You are in for a very pleasant surprise my friend, as there are to my knowledge six Roald Dahl stories that were converted into episodes of AHP. The others being “Dip In The Pool”, “Lamb To The Slaughter” "Poison", "The Landlady" and “Man From The South”, the first three of which were directed by Mr. Hitchcock. My favorite of those is definitely “Dip In the Pool”, staring Keenan Wynn, but each one is a classic in its own right. I just finished listening to the story “Taste” and found it to be just as excellent as all the others were. I’m truly surprised that it too was not converted into an episode of AHP as it is a great story with a great twist at the end, and Mr. Hitchcock was well known to be a connoisseur of fine wines. I only hope that its’ unattractive title was not the reason that it was not chosen for inclusion in the series - but maybe it just got overlooked.
Ur voice suits to all stories! Amazing! Thanks for the effort !! Really enjoyed the story ! Waiting for the next video ! ❤
Thanks very much! I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed the story and like the voice. Many more audioebooks to come..
Thank you for the amazing book, did you know they are making a movie of the Ronald Dahl book of witches?
You're welcome. Yes, I know they have made it, but I haven't seen it yet. For me, the book is always best!
@@lewiskirk8289 yes epically when we have to see the witch remove her mask, and that wont be to pleasant 😬
Oh my goodness!! Tragico! The dirty dog!
Ha ha, Hi Beth,
A nice little twist at the end there eh?
Another Dahl short story by made into an episode on Alfred Hitchcock Presents!
The story kills me every time🤣
thank you bro
It’s my pleasure 😇
Please go on reading for us!
I intend to! 🙂🙏
Thank youuuu
A pleasure! 👍
So funny!!! Thanks again for the excellent reading or is the correct word acting?
I wouldn't consider myself an actor. I think reading, or maybe narration would be the correct term. I can accept I am a narrator. Glad you enjoyed the audioebook. 🙏
.
I enjoy this and i found a meme:Hey Bixby! Tell me a story.
Lewis in Germany we say “bester Mann”
Oh “slap”!! That hurt hey?
