My Ballet Shoes Collection

- I love trying new ballet shoes so I've acquired a small collection over the past five or so years (and a bonus old leather pair that has to be from at least nine years ago!). I had a fun time going through these and even wore a pair this week that I had completely forgotten about :) - Jana

i am a simple person, you liked so danc sd16, i bought them and wore them all semester! i love them!!
The Juliet in leather is great, also the drawstring-less Blochs are nice (synchrony, pro-elastic, etc.). Glad someone else likes trying shoes too - and I'm not the only one. Thanks for the review!
julia levy I find the Bloch proelastic look beautiful on dancers with a nice foot/arch. My feet are flat and the shoe does not suit my foot. But the Bloch prolite split sole canvas does justice to my feet!
I agree. They don't look great on me either. I have very narrow flat-ish feet and most bloch shoes gap. But I HATE drawstrings so I keep my blochs as the extra pair in my bag 'just in case.' I'm wearing the So Danca ones now and I love them!
Omg why didn't I think to try the Juliets in leather! Thank you!! Haha :) I am in the same boat as @Leah Rose about my flat feet not looking so pretty in the pro-elastic :( And yay a fellow shoe addict!
i am so excited to get my first pair of capzio ballet flats the type is the capzio hanami canvas split sole with the cross elastics and also my teacher picks the ballet flat so i have total trust in her word
@@BallerinasByNight you driving you cars in shoes so danca sd16?
Thanks to your review I bought the So Danca ballet flats and loved them! I'm excited to try the MDMs as well as I would like to get into pointe soon. :-)
I love Grishko for canvas and Juliets in leather. But the So Danca look great, will try those next. Thanks!
I love Bloch shoes!!! Thanks for the video Jana
Thank you, Rosa!
the Capezio leather Juliet shoes are great, especially since you love the canvas ones.
I have the Intrinsic and it is good for me right now because I have plantar fascitis in my right foot. The extra cushioning makes it feel better.
I wear the so danca ones and they are sooo nice I love them!
The first shoe you showed the so danca one is my favourite but I wear the leather version to work my feet more
I have the So Danca myself and I LOVE them!!!
They are awesome!
I've been really liking the Capezio leather Juliets. They're extremely soft and they are not stiff like some leather shoes are. I wear those and the Capezio Hanamis. Awesome video btw!

I wear the same shoes!
I wear canvas shoes so... can’t relate
Capezio Piruette for complete. Great video, thanks.
I'm thinking I may become a bit of a shoe buff myself. I just started so I'm still using full sole, but I'd love to try a couple of these when I'm ready for split sole.
Happy shopping when it's time :) :)
This is a nice review of ballet slippers! I also like to try different models or brands when my current pair starts to wear out. For quite a while now, my favourite canvas slipper is the SoDanca SD16 shown first in the video - it hugs my feet perfectly while offering the right amount of support. Compared to "classic" slippers like the Sansha Pro 1C wearing these feels like dancing in socks. -- When dancing on wooden floors, I usually switch to leather slippers for additional grip. I my opinion, it is quite hard to find models that are made out of genuine leather with good quality and a snug fit. I am quite satisfied with the WM406 from WearMoi made out of glove leather - unfortunately this model seems to be discontinued, but there is a successor called "Pluton" where the drawstring is replaced by an elastic binding. I think these will be my next purchase ...
I have the capezio Juliet in leather which feels and looks amazing even on my low arches. You should definitely give those a try ☺️
I think I will! Thank you!
Thank you for responding. Love you and keep bringing in your wonderful videos. Much love from adult ballet dancer from jersey ☺️🤗
I loved 😍👍❤🥰
If I could get the Sansha Pro with the So Danca SD16 ball pad size and no-string upper elastic, I'd have a perfect shoe.
That is the Bloch Prolite Hybrid! I just bought them and I LOVE them. I'm new to ballet and have tried out a few different styles of ballet flats. The Prolite ones are my favorite so far. I feel like I can still feel the floor with them and they look so nice on my feet. Really like where the elastics hit. Also, Jana, do you have any tips for dealing with tendinitis in your Achilles tendon? I have low arched feet, too and I know you've mentioned battling it before. I would love to know what you do to help keep it away!
Yay, I'm glad I got the style right on those! Sorry to hear you battle with achilles tendinitis too :( If I feel it start to come on I make sure to (gently) stretch a lot. I also will check my placement on releve to make sure I'm using my glutes/hamstrings. Those muscles tend to get lazy on me every once and awhile and that's when I start gripping in the achilles. I always keep some icyhot in my bag and iburpofen will help with the pain in a pinch. But really if it's hurting & prohibiting you it's best to give it a rest for a week or so and continue to stretch. That's about all I know to do at this point! I hope that helps at all!
Thanks so much for replying, Jana! Luckily it hasn't been too bad other than one or two times. Something that helped me was to stand on a stair with my heels hanging off and do calf raises. Icy hot has helped too, but i find that it doesnt take much for it to start getting irritated haha. I've heard strengthening your calf muscles helps a lot, but that's kinda funny to me because I have really strong calves as it is. But oh well! I''m definitely trying to stretch more after class or when i do a barre at home and i've noticed it's helping not only with flexibility but the achiiles issue too. So here's hoping it stays away!
Hey Jessie, I realise your comment was posted a while ago, but I still wanted to say that you might wanna try a "pin and stretch" technique for the fascia in your calves. I also had problems with my achilles and that helped a lot. If your fascia isn't healthy, it will hurt like crazy in the beginning (at least for me it did), but it's worth a try. Here's the video: ua-cam.com/video/OTVP-WRMuLY/v-deo.html
Thanks for the help! I've been making a point to stretch a lot and that seems to have fixed the problem. Also massaging the muscle in the back of my calve seemed to do the trick but i'll definitely keep this video in mind in case it flairs up again!
Have you tried the Capezio Hanami yet? I’m looking for opinions on them. I’m currently in the Bloch Zeniths. I love how my arch looks in them, but they feel a bit thick. My teacher wears Capezio, and I think they are the Hanami since they have no drawstring and came with the elastic pre-sewn. She said she thought they were the Juliet, but the Juliet has drawstrings. They hug her feet just like a sock, and they are thinner and flexible like socks. They look super soft and comfy.
I bet those are Capezio Hanami your teacher is wearing! I recently got a pair of those and I think they are great! I like them better than the SoDanca shoes. I got the Hanami while waiting on a backorder of the Bloch Performa, and the Performa has become my favorite shoe since! The shape and size of the metatarsal padding hugs my foot so perfectly. I also got them in a nude shade since I never wear pink tights. Love them, but the Hanami is my second fave as of right now! I did a visual comparison on our blog: ballerinasbynight.blogspot.com/2018/07/stretch-canvas-shoes.html
I'm a 6 in capezio Juliet canvas. What size would I be in Bloch? Please help
I do ballet and I love it and nearly all my shoes are leather. I have the leather Bloch shoes
The ABT (American Ballet Theater) leather shoe is very good!

u should really try theareticals !
Hey, I know this video is pretty old at this point, but I don't think anyone else has mentioned So Danca's SD60 in leather. They are amazing, I never want to switch shoes! If you haven't tried them, I think they're worth a shot.
Ooh thank you for the recommendation!
Wear Moi Pluton split sole leather shoes are amazingly soft and buttery and they fit like a glove. Mmmm...
I want to order a pair of these but I am not sure how they size. Do you go larger than street size or are they pretty much street size?
I wear a 9.5 (medium width) street shoe, and I ordered a 41 (the usual equivalent of a US 9.5) and it was a perfect fit. I hope you love them as much as I do!
That helps. Thank you!!
Hi! Did you ever try the elastosplit from Bloch?
I haven't tried those! They've looked unsupportive to me so I haven't had a desire to try. Have you?
Ballerinas By Night Yes I use them all the time! Just curiuos about others opinion on them :) I really like how snug they are and how they define my arch, but I don't have flat fleet so maybe it's different!
Hi Jana!!!! :) can you please tell me what your sodanca sd16 shoe color is? Light pink, nude, or white? Thank you! Please answer! I'm getting mine tomorrow :)))
Chapa Aviles Hi! I hope I’m not too late responding! They are light pink :)
Ballerinas By Night not at all!!! I got the same color! Lucky me! :) thank youuuu ❤
I hate the very long drawstrings on my Bloch flats they either fall out and trip me up or dig into my feet any alternative flats minus drawstrings?
I believe the Bloch Performa and the Capezio Hanami are sans drawstrings! I love both of those shoes (I think I discovered them after this video - might be time for another shoe update!)
@@BallerinasByNight yes please do another video it was very helpful travelling soon and plan to hit a ballet store need tons of stuff
Bloch arise,my favourite. Can't wear canvas, don't like the feel of them.
I have not seen those! Will have to look into them. Thanks :)
I wear canvas because I'm doing pointe this summer and that's what I was recommended
I would like to take ballet with you
my first pair of ballet shoes was the balera leather full sole shoe i HATE THEM i ordered the so danca bliss shoes but it’s coming 4 days late🙄
Oh man, full sole leather is a TOUGH shoe! I hope you enjoy your So Danca Bliss pair - I hear good things!
Any for sale

I don’t throw away any of mine away even if I don’t wear them
I love seeing you show off your feet. Don't take offense to this, but you don't have perfect arches or a flat fifth. Neither do I and it really discourages me but that's just the way my feet are made, just flat. I stretch them lots but I can only do so much!! I used to think this would stop me from going on pointe but I later learned that is not true :) this is also nice because I get to see which shoes make flatter feet look better!! I just wanna thank you for being that representation without apologizing for it.
You have talented feets
