Music was just brilliant from 80 to 83. Heaven 17, Human League, Depeche, Altered Images, Japan, Duran, Adam and the Ants, Ultravox, Visage and a host of one hit wonders. So new and exciting and diverse. Great time to be in your teens. Great memories..
Ultravox don't belong on that list... 'Young Savage' was great, as was most of their 77/78 period. But after Ure got involved nahhh Goodnight Vienna...

Nothing less than brilliant. I try to imagine this song sung by Phil Oakey in The Human League. Not too far a leap of imagination, taking the personnel into account.
Ian Craig Marsh & Martyn Ware were original members of Human League. Phil Oakley came on board a bit later but they never got along. ICM & MW eventually left because they fell out with Oakey and a few years later they formed Heaven 17 with Glen Gregory on vocals.

Just because new is different and the 80s had a more experimental and story driven style of music doesn’t mean modern music is bad. Both can be good.
