  • An extract from Philip Ledger's first radio broadcast of "A Festival on Nine Lessons and Carols' on 24 December 1974. Our reel-to-reel tape of this broadcast was corrupted and the only salvageable item was Rutter's Shepherd's Pipe Carol.
If anyone has this complete broadcast, please let us know.. we would love a copy!

Question: When did directors of music give up their place in the stalls and begin directing from a podium in the aisle?

ANSWER. WHEN THEY WANTED TO START DOING SO. DEPENDS ON THE ORGANIST-CHOIR MASTER.

Ledger always conducted from the stalls, it was Cleobury that changed it. Made it a lot easier for dec to follow.
