I LOVE this. Practical Ideas, easy to implement, of course it instantly becomes 'mine' because it's all my ideas. Great positivity for 2025, thank you Tim, guitar friend indeed.
On my 3rd watch of this video. I just finished a modest pedal board: looper + blues driver + tuner. And now I have new ideas on how to get the most out of the looper and level up. Thank you GFT! Here's to gaining the loops and looping the gains in 2025.
This is good advice. I use the bass simulation in my modeler also for loops. If a person has a modeler with a looper and a drum machine, they don't have to buy, lets say the Trio Plus, that creates a bass line for you. It's good for me to compose my own bass parts, too. Now I want a real bass. I can make concept tracks with a drum machine without organizing people and moving equipment. I can share my ideas after they are organized, and then a real drummer can get creative within the time signature. The bass player can do the same. It's easier to drive to the drummers house with a modeler, a guitar, and a cabinet, then move a van load of drums for an unorganized jam.
A looper, especially with a drum track (like the Boss RC-5) will make practice fun and help your timing. You don’t have to be very good for it to help. I used it even to practice playing quarter/8th/8th triplets/16th note strumming. Loop it, listen to it.. it’s even easier that using something like GarageBand
This is great. Once you get that timing down for a smooth loop you’re hooked. And while I agree it’s better when you make it yourself I have NEVER made a sandwich that tasted better than, say, literally anyone else making it for me.
I use my looper a lot, play percussion beats through the mic first, then rhythm for a whole song, mic again for vocals, loop again for lead, it’s a mini recording station to make a work tape.
i got a looper 6 months ago, tried it, couldn't get a good groove. i'm gonna focus on this, great video and just in time for mixing things up for 2025 goals.
I had a looper once built into an amp but I thought was kind of neat. I will make my own backing tracks on a recorder have on my phone when I'm playing I'm trying to practice leading skills and stuff like that so it's not that far from stretch to try to a looper again I guess
Had a looper for a while just trying to get it to work only managed one bad loop so far just ordered a simple one which has square of leds which show the loop so that you can see where you are on the loop and when the loop gets to the end and restarts. See how that goes great work as always,
I was terrible at looping. Both mine have an auto start which helps starting to loop and then the challenge is timing, note/chord quality and most importantly stopping it in the right spot to loop without hiccups. All it really took was some consistent daily practice. I have one with the little led square and it sure helps to give me a heads up when the loop is going to repeat. All the best in 2025…
@@kerryfromaj9032 Yes I have to put in more practice I had to find out how mine worked well as they both had drum machines as well so I have just ordered a simple one that shows where you are in a loop once you record one with Led lights. Hoping it will make things clear so I can know where I am in my chord progression. Might be the same as yours sounds it arriving this Friday. All best to you as well Happy Looping Year
@ Hi Barry My small looper has drum machine, it also came with very poor instructions. Just awful. I will post a video on my channel how to use it, in a couple days M-Vave is the brand. Clicking on my avatar should get you there. I am practicing 12 bar progression using E7 A7 and B7 chords But to learn the looper might be easier to loop maybe two bars of E7 and two of another to get the loop seamless. It can be done. But for me daily practice of an hour each day for a week did it. Once I was used to a repetitive 12 bar blues progression I started knowing where I was in the loop easier. I used a metronome as well for the timing at a slower 90bpm and played only beat 1 and 2 so I had time to play or switch chords for the next bar. I am travelling 4 months through Mexico with a headless electric guitar for carry on and a small Spark Go amp.
I had that funny feeling you were talking DIRECTLY to me Sir.. So I promice you here today Sir, that I will make your prediction come true, and make you proud. 🎵🎶
Great video! I was recently researching loopers which triggered the algorithm to send this video to my feed today. New subscriber now and just recently purchased the Digitech Trio+. I have been playing for 47 years but always looking to improve my creativity.
After jamming with chord loops for eons, I switch back to playing along with my drum machine. My rhythm had drifted and it’s time to shred until my internal clock is realigned.
Yes, I really ought to dig out my looper pedal and go for it. Have a jamming time. Yo Thanks for the video. I'll be checking back for more. Wow this is good. I like the way I how we put everything over. Wonderful! And I'll be checking back soon hopefully. Thanks again! Wow! Have fun and enjoy your looper pedal gosh!
I will loop more this year as a resolution I can keep. I switch from guitars and use drum beat buddy with a looper. I set the rhythm on progression and the drum setting with looper. Flexibility with looper and different genres stop boredom and overdone routine. Great video, I subscribed.
Agreed, the boss line of loopers is really good. You can always start with a really simple one, (Dittos are good too) and just get into the creative process with it.
So I jumped ship in Hong Kong and made my way north to Tibet where I got on as a looper…you know a pro jock! And who do they set me up with but the Dalai Lama himself! 🎉😂 lol!
Nice, bro. Just bought my amp/pedal starters - and getting a looper for exactly this reason. a DAW is such a buzzkill when you want to play around. Love the vibe. Subbed cause you are fun and good. What is a good loop station you recommend that will save/store ideas that I can trigger the way you did?
Got a Brand New "Pristine" RC-5 for Sale if anyone in NYC is Interested? (unfortunately for me) - I'm no-good at Looping. This was excellent information presented here. You motivated me.
Great video (and advice) on using a looper! What looper(s) do you use though? The ones I've always tried the playback sounds compressed or not good over the playback.
My 1 hour of practice always just turns into 2 hours of getting the damn loop right 😂. The pedal then collects dust for another month and the cycle continues.
@@guitarfriendtim The Spark is portable for travel, loud enough and has infinite amp/effects through the app, with headphones it can cause hearing loss… It buzzes rattles with the front cover on but is magnetic attached for easy removal. Lay Spark on its back in a drawer or cabinet and the volume increases the bigger sound presence. Do you have a membership other than one year up front?
Great (Video)Statement!! You´re so right with the FUN you have jamming (on your own) with a "Looper" (and some kind of metronom). I have the Trio Band Creator. I have not used it in a while, but it takes what chords you loop into it and ads bass lines and drum beats in all kinds of music genres. You can even layer on top of it, but I never got the timing down right so it never worked out for me. I may have to set it up again.
I was actually thinking about that more of hearing your sounds over and over with a looper, cassette, and FL Studio Mobile to hear how you sound. Shalom. :3
I have looprs that came built into other FX pedals or amps. I've played with them a little. I have no use for looprs. A good multi track recorder works for me. Want a good 'LOOPER", try a Tascam Model 12 or a Zoom R24..
I am doing this as a self challenge/improvement since last year's start and great things happened 😊. Enjoy your playing time to Max! Greetings from a fellow musician 🤘🎸🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
I got the Donner Circle looper and Digitech footswitch that it likes. For a mere $170.00 I have the features of a VERY expensive five button looper. I've had it since C19 got ugly and it's awesome. If you want really cheap, I have the Conner Triple looper on my bass board and it's good kit for the price. HF.
I actually find the opposite is true. Most free backing tracks sound super mediocre at best on their own and are made into real music when I put down my super gnarly mam'a jams on top of them. Also, even if the tracks are great on their own, practicing making the music better is a key part of being a good musician. You should serve the song always, just don't make it worse.
I wouldn't buy one of these cheap Chinese loopers again. They don't calculate the length to quantisize the loop, so very often there's gaps . No matter how good your timing is, without that calculating it will always be a matter of luck to get a smooth loop.
Don't know why anyone would buy a Les Paul and a Strat when they can simply buy a Strat with a split coil humbucker pickup in the bridge position. Most versatile instrument of the lot.
