DUDE! The ry5hm was spot on! I detected NO errors what so ever in the rythm playing. Solo was not executed so well. Please continue playing, I enjoyed it.
Sounds great man, I enjoyed your sound. Also enjoyed your choice of song to cover. This song was one of my fav's growing up in the 80's but never got the airplay it should have.
Thanks for your interest, unfortunately the files I had for this are corrupt and unusable. However, I'd be willing to re-record some tracks when I get some free time.
Thanks for posting, I've been wanting to learn this one. I watched all the covers and could not figure it out until I saw yours, not sure what it was but just seemed a lot easier watching you do it, and a fine job you did!!! Kudo's :)
Thanks man, yes those were harmonics, however I don't take any credit for that. I added those in because I saw a live video of this song, and Bill Leverty played it like that live, which I thought was cool as hell, so I decided to add that in. I'm not certain, but I don't think the studio version has the harmonics.
i really wanna know what distortion sound is that? me too keep coming back here coz i can't find other cover as good as this one. Great Job! Just came back to listen again on Date 2/21/2017
From a previous post.... Thanks, tuning is Eb, Here is breakdown of the set up I used for this; The guitar is an 80's model Ovation hardbody electric fitted with and EMG 81 in the bridge with DR strings (.010). Recording setup: Guitar>ErnieBall Volume>Ibanez TS9(for boost)>Marshall Jmp1 preamp>Alesis Quadraveb for delays>Lexicon MPX1 for a touch of verb>Digitech MEQ14 equilizer>MesaBoogie Strategy 500 Power amp>Marshall 1960B cabinet>SM57 and Bluebird Mics>FMR RNP mic preamp>Tracktion recording software.
That’s the only other Ovation I’ve ever seen that’s identical to mine in every way, except mine is in a beautiful Crimson pearl met. I’ve seen one that says “Celebrity Ovation” which if I’m not wrong is was in production from about 1986-1987/88’ and those models have extra split switches 1-4 of them, and All have diff pickup configuration than ours. Subsequently they dropped the Celebrity name and became Ovation guitars if I’m remembering right. This would put our models around the 1985 or before frame. I’d love to here any info, stories or knowledge you may have on yours. I know I found mine almost a year ago, a guy found it in a yard sale ,showed up to our city wide yard sale day,and traded it for my Ibanez acoustic electric he really wanted the previous year. The guitar was in a hard shell for years and didn’t have a scratch or ding on it or the case. The only thing showing it’s age are the pearl shark inlays, they’re almost all worn down to being just the silver base layer and have some minor cracks in the plastic at their sharpest points. Please get back to me I’d really appreciate it! Thanks for the great videos! KrS
My parents bought this guitar for me brand new around 1986 for about 350 bucks or so, it was my first electric guitar. I've had several guitars over the years and I've always really liked the feel and tone of this particular guitar, and the fact that it's heavier in weight than most. I swapped out the original humbucker with an EMG81, and I removed the center pick up because it always seemed to get in the way of my picking. Other than that, it's all stock. The guitar is a tank. Back in the 80's-90's when I played in bands, this was my main work horse. It always held up well. The finish that was used on the body is super durable compared to alot of guitar finishes I've seen over the years. In the 30+ years I've owned this, I've seen only two other people with this guitar. A Red one and a White one. I see them on ebay every once in awhile, and I've contemplated picking up another one just to have around. This guitar has one volume, one tone knob, 5 way selector and toggle switch for the humbucker.
