    I love the new camera! I love the fishbowl lens and the wider ratio! More space in the frame is great.

    I found one of these at the local transfer (trash) station in Aug. or Sept. this year. The neck looked pretty straight so I took it home. Someone had gooched all three pots and it was setup like ass. Strings were a mile high the pickup foam was dead and the pickup screwed way too low like all the way down. Oh yeah it was had some serious nasty shit that need to be cleaned off.
    Total invested including pots, knobs,strings and straplocks about $100 U.S. I wired it like a jazz bass and roughed in the set up. I took it to a local shop because I didn't know what the radius was or how to set it without a guage. $50 U.S.
    What a great player. I really dig this bass.
    I was only willing to try and resurrect this bass because of the lessons learned from you Dave.Thanks man!

    Hi Dave, the controls are, from the bridge, tone , volume and volume. It looked like some idiot had disconnected the first two pots. I modded one of my OLPs ( I have 3 MM3s, like the one you worked on, and a MM32) by sending both volumes through the front pot and installing a switch, where the middle pot was, allowing me to switch from series to parallel mode. the result is no hum from turning one of the volumes down, plus you get a lovely tone boost when you switch to parallel mode. hope that helps

    I think the camera looks just fine. Maybe shorten the camera dissolve rate to 1 second instead of 10 seconds. That way your audio isn't stepping on itself up during the long dissolve. Love your videos, Dave!!!!

    Dave the new camera looks nice! The close up shots are cleaner. FYI . Cheers!

    I just ripped off my faceplate and wired the pickups and ground directly to the old RadioShack input jack I had to buy as a replacement after the Cheapie Ball one broke after a couple weeks of use.
    That was a whole hour ago, so thanks for template!

    Had a noise like that in a strat, and found the signal and ground reversed at the jack. It was my own fault but it sounded exactly like this problem. Full sceen video looked ok, sound ok, but a little low in volume.

    Interesting, but the video looked like there was a haze on the lens and muddy audio, especially from the bit where you were measuring the radius of the fingerboard on.
    I think we all agree that this camera would make a better door stop... Man, that's gotta be a pain in the neck, especially with the cost of shipping... Thanks again for the Chicken Stew vid, I plan on making some soon!!
    the pick up wired just through the volume pot is a good idea, (more a matter of personal preference, I'm sure)
    I knew a bass player in Chicago who ran his pickups straight to the output jack and used the amp to adjust his sound.

    Just watching the weather for your area, and the lady doing the forecast said it was 18C last week-end, fuck me 18C in December in Canada, if we get 18C in the UK in summer we are all dying of heat stroke, lol. That's not normal weather for this time of year in Canada is it Dave, surely not? They were saying this week-end it's completely different with Arctic air snow and -10, enjoy the snow Dave.

    Good sounding instrument...with an easy repair! The owner did not want to use the other 2 pots or what?
    Camera: too bright and sound a little on the weak side but average quality..depends on how much you shelled out for it if it's a gooch or not!
    Cheers and Merry Christmas to you and your family Dave!
    Keep us entertained with your hard work!...For which I am very thankful...

    Hello there I own the OLP 5 string and tuning I could upgrade it with the Aguilar AG 5M p/u, I went ahead and got it along with OBP3 tk Preamp. 2 issues I’m having. I wired it up according to a wiring diagram. I double check all the connections. Followed the dummy chart to a T. I connected the 9v battery but get nothing. Now I’m using a stock vol pot along with the OBP3 bass/mid/treb/mid togg switch. I’m getting nothing. I connected the wires to the output according to dummy chart. All black wires to the Ring terminal, battery negative to the ground terminal and the green wire to the tip terminal of the jack. Now my other issue is that once I dry fitted the p/u, I noticed that the Aguilar p/u magnets are so much wider than the stock OLP p/u which cause the strings to NOT sit above the magnets. I’m guessing the mags being that far away from the strings is gonna cause the bass to not work properly. I’m confused as to what bass has a string spacing that wide where the Aguilar will fit. Also, if I have the OLP which is supposed to be cheaper version of the music man why is my string spacing so narrow. Please, anything you can advise will be greatly appreciated.

    I don't like the new camera..it spins me ol eyes out Dave , particularly the fish eye lens and the fade in cross fade. The last camera was really good..it was good on the eyes, it handled light well. but I gather the auto focus was gooched.
    Have a merry xmas. cheers.

    The new camera was 50/50 at best - sometimes it looked really good - nice colors, good balance but the next shot it was over-exposed and cloudy. It appears to be a wider angle than your other camera which is handy. The audio -- yeah - that needs some work - - you should get a good wireless lav mic - - it's only money!

    Hey Dave, what was your opinion on that bass in terms of quality? I've seen them all over the internet for pretty cheap.

    • @terrylill2363
      @terrylill2363 7 років тому

      remurdereht I just swapped one of these for a jhs vintage 4string stingray clone. The OLP MM3 is a beast if you find one that seems cheap enough to chance it you'll be getting a lot of bass for your moneys. It's a five string so expect it to be heavy but along with the beef you get a very solid and well constructed bass ..the string spacing is slightly narrower than average four string bass and most five strings too. Great for pick playing but slap is abit tricky. The sound is great,a really strong output for a passive set up . A coil tap mod goes a long way toward improvement on these and if you use a stinger (preamp) and go active it'll bring the house down. Machine heads are good quality so it stays in tune . Not much else I can say , hope my mini reveiw helps. My main point is the close string spacing , if you have small hands it'll be a pleasure

      @liamwilson42 7 років тому +1

      I have a blue OLP 4 string I purchased for the princely sum of £85.The body had a few dings here and there but overall the build seemed OK. The tuning was pretty poor so I swapped the cheap tuners for a pair of Fender Mex ones.The bass held tune really well after that.I replaced the Stock p/up with a Seymour Duncan Humbucker.I installed a Retrovibe Stinger tone circuit.Replaced the nut with a brass one.Levelled and crowned the frets.This bass punches well above it's weight now.

    Do you have any advise for cleaning dot inlays. I have a fender jim root tele which is in my profile picture. Everytime I change my strings I clean the guitar with guitar polish and conditioner along with the fingerboard. I clean and condition the fretboard as well but it seems not to remove the grime from my white dot inlays. So it keeps my ebony fretboard looking dirty.
