To me, this is the greatest musical movement ever written, the _Eingangschor_ of the greatest work ever written, written by the greatest composer. It is worthy of worship and veneration. Having first met it at about age 14, I have studied it over my life enough to reproduce it at the organ from memory. The fact that you, too, have done the same, and know it probably better than I, immediately earns you not only my vastest and most profound respect, but immediate knowledge of you, knowing that you have arrived at this point. I doff my hat and bow before you. I have not even looked at the rest of your channel.

Wundervoll. Bach ist der Größte. Und den Eingangschor der Matthäuspassion nur mit Frauenstimmen zu hören ist eine tolle Erfahrung. Sie haben eine wunderschöne Stimme, die Aufnahme ist perfekt. Alles Liebe für Sie.
Es ist erstaunlich, wie sich die Stimme auch nur einer Sängerin durch die Technik zu einem sehr guten Chorklang zusammenfügt.
Gegenüber der Aufnahme mit Herrewghe ist Thresas Klang natürlich nicht mit dem fülligen Spektrum eines großen Chores mit großem Orchster zu vergleichen.
Aber der Zuhörer hat hier einen sehr intimen Zugang zu Bach's barockem Eingangschor und hört viel mehr, als Theresa singt, wenn er dieses Stück gut kennt,
Auch wenn am Anfang und im Mittelteil der Orchesterpart fehlt, tut das dem Hörerlebnis keinen Abbruch.
(Ich hab es grad mit Herrewghe und mit den Thomanern ausprobiert. Theresas Experiment ist einfach sehr eindrucksvoll. )
Insbesondere erinnert sich mein Hörgedeächtnis an unsere Aufführung zusammen mit den Domspatzen mit deren hochgezüchteten Sopränen, die damals recht spitz klangen. Theresa Einwürfe klingen im Gensatz dazu angenehm weich.

Dankeschön, ich freue mich, dass es dir gefällt! Die Bassstimmen singe ich immer früh morgens, direkt nach dem Aufstehen, ein, weil da die Stimme noch tief ist und gut im Körper sitzt. Im Laufe des Tages nehme ich dann nach und nach die Oberstimmen auf.
Im Jahr um 1955 bin ich von Hilden mit einem alten Daimler-Diesel-Fahrer getrampt, der um 8 Uhr morgens mit ca. 80 km/h in Richtung Hannover trödelte.
Als ich ihn vorsichtig fragte, ob sein Motor noch zu kalt sei, erklärte er mir:
" Um 8 Uhr starte ich mit 80, um 9 gehe ich auf 90 und um 10 suf Hundert."
Wegen seiner sonstigen Fahrfehler habe ich ihn gebeten, mich in Dortmund aussteigen zu lassen, da war es noch vor 14 Uhr.
So wird man über 80.

Beautiful! But why so fast? Almost every modern recording of this mighty work is played way way way too fast. If you are able to find older recordings, take a listen. You will be amazed at how much you miss with these speedy racing performances. I recommend the 1954 Furtwangler recording with the Weiner Philharmoniker under the EMI label. It is a revelation!
I listened. I prefer this speed. Herreweghe is my fave recording.

SUBLIME creative project, bravo! What a joy to see young people so enthusiastic about Bach! As a musicologist and Bach lover I started a project about implied polyphony. I'd love to do a similar project called 'Bring out the Counterpoint' where the more 'hidden' alto and tenor parts in Bach fugues are amplified (played or sung relatively louder) to bring them back to live.
