- Japanese Tools Australia was honored to be invited into the forge of Ouchi-san, master of many aspects of Japanese smithing and esecially renowned for his beautiful chisels. Here he laminates blue paper steel (Aogami) cutting edges and forges the shape of his chisels in preparation for grinding and finishing.
I just bought an Ouchi off Ebay! A western style Mortise chisel but Japanese style! It's cool.
Love to watch a craftsman.
Thanks
After seeing all the hand work and skill involved the price seems like a bargain.
No.

tht great job... what song he heard 😅😅
What is the flux used in forge welding?
The flux might be borax
@@jesaiasgutierrez4652 in my experience, the steel bit would not stick so nicely in place if it were just borax. I would like to find such a sticky flux, if you have some suggestions!
@@glenmatthewwilson Might try these folks.

Hi there, thanks for watching! Our understanding is that it is plane on borax, we also haven't that sort of success in our own mucking around. Happy forging!
@@JapaneseToolsAustralia wow, that is surprising! Thanks for the answer. :)
