Some of the students there are jewish. None of them have attacked other jewish students. And even if one of them did, that does not make all the students there at the protest responsible. Both Columbia & Barnard students built the encampment. Some of the faculty there have defended the students during the walkout, saying that they are peacefully protesting & that the president’s decision to send riot police to arrest students on campus is was unjustified, unprecedented & dangerous. Also, some teachers were threatened to be arrested as well. Including NYU & Barnard faculty in the other protests. Students there protested within an area they are able to protest in & the protest was planned beforehand. On day 2, some students there were getting emails that they were suspended & evicted from dorms right (exactly 2 hours) before the riot police came so they can arrest them, with some of them not knowing they were suspended beforehand which is extremely shady. Keep in mind that their suspensions are actually not valid as their suspensions violate the colleges own policy. Even before the protest, students faced illegal surveillance from the university within the NYPD. Before the arrest, some police pushed credential press to the sideline. But allowed their uniform staff to film on the grass in the encampment. The police put all the students belongings in an alleyway & threatened to suspend anyone caught trying to pick up their own personal belongings. NYU Protest info: The faculty there has defended the NYU protest as well & were holding hands to protect students there at the protest who were praying. Students have also claimed that the police acted violently (and there’s vids as well as proof of this). NYU built a wall to prevent students from protesting, causing a mass walkout my students & some staff. Btw, in both protests there’s a few videos of people speaking to cops there with some of them claiming that they are not really sure why they are there, as the students were mostly protesting peacefully.
