My effect was crystal clear. If I'm honest this is the first time I've seen a cloudy one.
I must have just gotten a bad batch then.
I definitely don't have a problem with the shine or skintone on the original but it would look good with a matte finish.
The Player 1 Ryu is actually based on the artwork for the game, and not the game itself, which the player 2 version is accurate to the game. In SFII, Ryu never had red gloves in sprite in game - but he always had them in supporting media artwork (along with an orangish skin tone).
So, preference notwithstanding, they are both accurate in their own way.
Thought it was only costume color change, kinda cool they fixed the skin tone and smoother joints.

I picked up Fei Long last weekend and he was the first I have seen at Target. Ken was there too but the seal was broken so I passed. This new Ryu makes the old one look like Ryu Trump, wow what a difference. It’s definitely got me considering waiting on the inevitable rerelease but I think I’ll pick up the original just to support the line. Swapping the two is an interesting idea assuming this exclusive isn’t too hard to get ahold of. 🤔
Damn I'm super jealous. I'm on the hunt for ken as we speak. Hahaha he really does though 🤣

I agree one looks like a toy and the other like a collectible. Ryu is a wanderer, if they give him a tan look like Feilong or Evil Ryu that would give him the best player 1 Ryu collectible look. I much rather do the swap with the Evil Ryu and paint the eyes to non evil lol.

I haven't had a chance to see the evil Ryu in person but I feel like his skin is more reddish gray isn't it? Like he's filled with all that anger and evil so his skin turns dark and reddish lol I do agree the tan would work more for current day Ryu. And make more sense. He was always super pale in the old games haha.

I'm totally willing to give the Player 2 Ryu a try since it has smoother joints and nicer finish. The face sculpt looks a lot better too.

@@suhtangwong 100% just a repaint. No new sculpt anywhere on the figure. The matte finish is nice and does look better, but still just a repaint.
The Ryu in Grey looks a lot better because the White One get Dirty very easy i hear😢😮
I originally didn’t get Ryu as he was simply out of stock everywhere local to me. Even if it was just the better skin tone I’m going to be picking up this player 2 version but glad to hear the joints are better

It shocks me how no reviews I saw of the first didn’t speak of his colour and how bad it is
I can't speak for everyone but for me it was more of not having anything to compare to. Like he seemed extra tan but the figure was so good it distracted from how orange he is
I like this champion edition color Ryu. Im hoping we get a champion edition Ken. Even a Chun Li in champion edition red.

The first 3 I bought Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li all had problems, the ratchets are chewing the plastics making them loose everytime you articulate them. Now, my Chun-Li can barely stand because her left knee is very loose now. The hair on Ryu and Chun-Li were chipping and got unglued. Some of the paint on the soft plastics on Chun-Li's clothes are also chipping. Then my Ken's ankles are weak, it can't hold the weight of the figure and it kept toppling on my shelf everyday. So I hope they fix these issues. No matter how good the paint and sculpts are if the QC is bad, then I'd rather buy expensive Figuarts and Mafex figures for my shelf
Also, your OG Ryu in your video is shiny mine is not. Your Hadoken effect my OG one is actually like the new one and it doesn't have the foggy look like yours, so that's already another one of Jada's QC issues on production. Actually your OG Ryu looked like the fakes that are circulating around HK, it looks toylike, but mine has so many QC issues that it really doesn't matter how good mine looks. This version is really not an improvement but shows the lack of consistency on QC on Jada toys figures

The heads sculpts are the same on both figures? Unless you just meant in general, in which case I think it's more based off the artwork than in game but I'm not sure

Does anyone think there's a possibility for a Ryu 2.0? Because P2 is near perfect but the availability for it outside of US it's gonna be tricky
Unfortunately they haven't said anything. It's the toy industry. They love to reuse molds to make more money off of them. So there's always a chance.
I think your original hadouken is just defected, I've seen many of them and none of them were that cloudy.
Like the new skin tone, but I want Ryu with red handband and gloves to have such skin tone, so skipping this one unfortunately.

Yeah they did a running change. The first couple waves of production had this glossy finish. The newer ones are matte

I think anyone who’s curious about THESE figures should watch the interview with Bryan flynn of super 7. Everything he said can be looked as SO unbelievably delusional. maybe you won’t have to clearance out your line for less than half price and make cope claims that people aren’t just buying toys right now. No Brian they aren’t buying shitty overpriced toys from out of touch companies that don’t have any interest in improving their product. What company shows ANY improvement in their line within a year. This brand new company shows corrections and improvement in one wave

You were "thoroughly impressed" with Ryu 8 months ago and found the quality to be "impressive," but now you act like Jada should be ashamed for releasing that same figure? You made no mention of the gloss finish or the skin tones then, but now the skin is "jaundice," "Cheeto-dust" skin and these are suddenly your biggest issues with the figure? Come on...
Everyone was wanting this first wave and everyone was praising it less than a year ago. Juhn has said he and the designers care enough about the line to make constant improvements and here they've made improvements you didn't even ask for and you act upset?
Why are we like this as a community? This isn't Toybiz vs Hasbro Marvel Legends we're talking about here, this was eight months ago.
You are literally a toy reviewer, if you had an issue with it, then don't let hype keep you from mentioning it the first time around. If you didn't notice it the first time around, don't act like it's a deal-breaker now. How can I trust your opinion as a reviewer with this kind of flip-flop behavior?
1. I literally say in the video that i heard other people had said they had problems with the orange skin tone and that hadn't really noticed it until I had these two side by side.
2. If you want to watch someone who is closed minded and incapable of changing their opinion based on new information, then this is not the channel for you my man lol
I still stand by my original opinion of the first Ryu, but I also believe this one is leaps and bounds better. They improved on the original as any good toy company should.
Just rerelease the original one with a normal skin tone thats not so yellow

I just got my Ryu in yesterday, joining my Chun Li from a couple of weeks ago. I next want Ken and Bison. Bison always looked very Soviet to me and so I will have him join my Winter Guard aka Soviet Super Soldiers aka Putin's Stooges. He will join Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, Lesser Crimson Dynamo, Red Guardian, Darkstar, and 9 Evil Black Widows.
I forgot they announced bison! I can't wait for him either. Kens starting to hit targets so hopefully I can find him soon

He's supposed to be yellow. The other color is supposed to be lighter. Ryu was never Caucasian.... he's Japanese. Why would u want him to be lighter then his normal color is crazy. Great reviews always, but this comparison wasn't it. Color wise nah. We now they different. Just becareful what u say.

If you Google him, the game art, and game screen shots, he's not yellow or orange. He's almost always depicted as pale skinned. Occasionally he has a bit of a tan. His skin tone also doesn't really change with the different outfits (may vary game to game). And yes he definitely is Japanese. But Japanese people can also have pale white skin.
I think the issue was finding a word to describe it. I avoided saying white because that sounds like I'm saying he's a white dude lol which was definitely not what I wanted to say. Unfortunately I didn't think of the word pale at the time, so that's on me 😅
