Off the Record with Marko Hietala

NOTE: This interview was originally recorded on the Springtime of the Black Heart Tour with the intent to publish it on Tuonela Magazine. However, it slipped through the cracks and was forgotten for half a year and ended up back in my hands. Since I've had such a great time working with independent artists, that this interview spawned an idea to go back to my roots of doing off-album-release interviews, where I can chat with the artist and learn more about them and who they are and how/why they tick the way they do, without asking the same old album release questions, with a hope to go a little deeper and be a bit more candid... hence Off the Record. In this episode of Off the Record, Bear Wiseman talks to Marko Hietala about mental health, his music career and current endeavors, as well as his other experiences and collaborations, such as Ayreon Universe and The Masked Singer. Good for Marco. Im glad hes feeling better and has some diagnosis.
The Silmarillion takes dome work the first couple of times but is well worth the effort. I read it at least every 18 months now.
